Other Accidents

The delightful atmosphere of the cafe is incompatible with the chaotic mood of Mahen. He feels fooled. Or is he a stupid man? I don't know.

Mahen was sitting in a cafe near his home. The accompaniment of acoustic music and the melodious sound of the singer makes the visitors carried away. Mahen's heart rumbled in wait for the King's presence. The stepbrother she thought had died in an accident five years ago.

The man sat facing the entrance, so as to know immediately that the King was coming. After waiting ten minutes, the King finally came. Mahen raised his arm so that the King would instantly know of his whereabouts.

The king stepped wide towards Mahen's table. He pulled a wooden chair and sat on it. Mahen's gaze from earlier felt like it was drawing out his heart.

"Drink what, sir?" ask a waiter.

"Iced Aren Latte" said the King.

After taking note of the King's order, the servant passed. Tensions are now re-created between Mahen and the King.

The king cleared his throat trying to ease his nervousness. He felt a little guilty for taking part in Vika's scenario.

"Sister, how are you?" ask the King.

Instead of answering, Mahen was now leaning on a chair while staring intently at the King.

"Sorry," said the King.

"I don't need your apologies!" exclaim Mahen.

"What does Mahen want to know?" ask King.

"Everything" Mahen replied briefly.

"So .. actually ... "

FLASH BACK ON

Vika's heart is afraid to find the attitude of Mahen who does not care about him and Vincent. The woman finally came out of Mahen's house in a state of disordered heart. As if knowing his mother's heart, Vincent whines.

"Vik" call Miss Lasmi.

Vika turned, then smiled as much as possible. However, a mother's instinct must be very strong. Ms. Lasmi hugged her only daughter that was full of love. Vika took a deep breath enjoying her mother's soothing scent.

"We just go back to Bandung, I don't want you to continue to be hurt if you are here" said Ms. Lasmi.

"How about New York tickets? Abort it! Let me talk to the King" exclaimed Miss Winda.

"Yes" said Vika briefly.

After walking to the front of the complex, the King's car that was about to enter the housing stopped. The man then opened the door for Vika. Seeing the figure of the King, Vincent raised his hand asking to be carried.

In the car the atmosphere was so quiet. Vika daydreamed while watching the busy streets of the capital as usual.

"King, can I ask you to cancel a flight to New York?" pinta Bu Lasmi's.

"Why, Mom?" ask King.

"Just go back to Bandung, let Vika heal his wounds there rather than going to a foreign place. I'm afraid that later the burden of his mind will increase if he has to adjust again there," explained Miss Lasmi as she glanced at Vika from the front rearview mirror.

"Alright, I will contact the airline to cancel our ticket" said the King.

The sky had turned dark when they reached Bandung. Vika went straight into the house, as if her soul was empty somewhere. Vincent ignored him. The almost one-year-old toddler kept whining about wanting to be hugged, but Vika ignored him.

"Vik, do you want to continue like this?" ask Miss Lasmi.

Vika's ears seemed deaf, she did not respond at all to the words of her mother. Out of annoyance, Miss Lasmi slapped her daughter's smooth cheek. After that, Vika realized. The woman rubbed her cheek to relieve the pain of her mother's slap.

Vika looked at her mother, tears began to roll down her cheeks.

"Huhuhu, sick, Mom," said Vika.

"You're not a kid anymore! Look Vincent! He needs you so much!" firmly Ms. Lasmi while crossing her arms in front of her chest.

For a moment Vika forgot that she had a very cute son as an entertainer of her heart. He stepped foot onto the bed where Vincent was fast asleep. The woman gently stroked her son's face. His peaceful face while sleeping made Vika's heart melt.

"I'm sorry Vincent's mother, for not being a good mother to you yet."

"Are you ready, Mom?" ask Vika.

"Already," said Ms. Lasmi while holding her favorite granddaughter.

After making sure all the doors and windows are locked, Vika and Miss Lasmi immediately leave the house. The king was already waiting on the porch while looking at his cell phone.

"Yuk, sister," asked Vika.

"Alright, come! Chen want to go with uncle to drive?" ask King.

The one-year-old boy nodded quickly. From Bu Lasmi's sling, now his tiny body has moved into the King's arms.

On the way to the orphanage, Vincent was very happy chattering like a toddler. He often said the word 'what' every time he saw something that caught his attention. The king explained it patiently and wisely.

When Vincent sees a balloon dealer in a park, the boy starts whining.

"Yyon! Oyoon! (balloon! balloon!)," cried Vincent.

"Chen want a balloon?" ask Vika.

"He'eh! (Yes)" said Vincent, nodding.

Vika finally decided to get out of the car. His footsteps slowly crossed the paved road that was getting hot from the sun. Vika uses her hands to shade her eyes so as not to glare.

Once in the balloon cart, Vika mutuakan to choose the balloon shaped favorite character Vincent. The balloon had a star shape, dominated with a pink color, and the lower part of its body was covered by flower-patterned color pants. Vincent loves the character of Patrick.

"How, Mang?" ask Vika.

"Fifteen thousand, Neng."

Vika reached into the wallet that was in her bag. From that rectangular-shaped object, he took out a piece of twenty thousand dollars. The seller receives the money, then ruffles his waist bag to retrieve the change.

While waiting for the change, Vika and the seller were surprised by the sound of the car brakes. Sontak Vika looked back. Slowly his feet stepped closer to the scene.

Once you know who got hit by the car, Vika seemed to lose her footing. His legs were limp, his heart stopped beating, and the world seemed to be spinning. She saw her mother covered in blood on a paved road.

Bu Lasmi's eyes are closed. From his head he shed a lot of blood. His face looks pale. People began to shroud the body of his mother who had been limp. That day Miss Lasmi left him for good.

FLASH BACK OFF

Hearing the King's story, Mahen's heart trembled. He was back wallowing in guilt.

"Had that day chosen to defend Vika, surely all would never have happened" Mahen said.

Seeing his half-brother pensive, the King called out to him repeatedly.

"Sir Mahen, are you okay?"

Mahen stared softly at the King's face, his head shaking softly. The man's eyes began to turn red withstanding the crying.

"Will Vika still want to see me?"
