Cassie confirmed Nathan's words instead of denying his joy and this surprised Nathan. Cassie always seems like a cold girl, like her, but things have changed for both of them.
"Just Cam was always there for me and now he's with Kris ... "
"He will be your friend."
"Can I ask you something?" Nathan nodded and he continued, "Why do you care if I do a spell to change my appearance?"
Nate was surprised "Who told you that? Maia..."
Cassie was so distrustful... What Maia said turned out to be true...
The girl's expression suddenly changed "I think she's kidding ... " Then Cassie lay on her side and her shirt fell backwards, revealing her shoulder.
"I don't understand why the woman is so happy to make fun of people. That's a small thing!"
Nathan could have told Cassie that he didn't really want Cassie to hide his eyes because it was nice to see Cassie as she was, to see how the contrast of her eyes with her black hair made her even more beautiful, but he swore to suppress what he wanted to say. He was happy for the girl, whatever it was. Nathan just threw his face away and smiled.
"Maia is a good person. He just likes to be crazy sometimes!"
The girl smiled but said nothing. He slipped under the blanket and turned off the lights.
"Are you going to stay here all night or go back to your bed?"
Nathan doesn't know why, but Cassie's way of saying the phrase leads him to believe that it is a real provocation, he said, but maybe it was only his confused mind that made him see and understand things that were not really there.
Nathan slowly got up and stood up for a few seconds, then he went to his bed and lay down, putting his hands behind his head.
Nathan smiled at himself and decided that, deep down he was not entirely indifferent. He sighed and turned towards Cassie. Cassie also turned towards him but her eyes were closed and her breathing was in order. Nathan looks at her again, hoping Cassie won't open her eyes. Keeping up with what he had felt since he met her turned out to be more difficult than he had expected.

It has only been two weeks since her mother's death and everything seems to be fine, though grief flares up from time to time.
Cassie slowly begins to settle in Robert's house and also begins to get used to Nathan's constant presence. They find themselves spending most of the day together and little by little Nathan can also open up to him. They're not good friends, but they get along well. With Cameron, on the other hand, they rarely meet. The only time they passed each other or exchanged words was during practice, but even then they were only together for a few minutes as he dashed to the Crystal immediately after.
Cassie knew that she was not jealous at all, in fact, she did not associate her friend's alienation with her. She realizes that she has actually misinterpreted her feelings for Cameron. Sometimes it happens when you spend a lot of time with one person, you are bound so strongly that knowing that that person is bound to another person is scary. He felt like a fool for acting like it was the time of the day, but now it was the past.
They had long since finished training, but Cassie felt so happy in training that she almost regretted coming home. He smelled Nathan's perfume and pulled away. Nathan was rearranging the mat, cleaning the training ground, but turned around a moment later. Cassie looked away, but saw Nathan smiling from the corner of her eye. Every time their eyes met, he felt a strange feeling in his stomach.
Cassie has a vague idea of what could happen, but she doesn't want to end up like Cameron's, just once is enough. So whenever he felt that feeling, he would turn his head and tell himself that feeling would pass, sooner or later. And then he had other things on his mind. Maia's words reappeared from time to time and shared about their dreams as well. It's not happening again. Not only did they enter each other's dreams, but none of them had nightmares. At least not him.
As Cassie walked towards the exit, she saw the sword on the ground and picked it up. It was beautiful, one of his favorites.
Cassie was on her way to save it when she felt a strange presence hovering behind her. With the sword still in hand, he turned around suddenly and with a lightning move he aimed at his neck.
"What are you doing here?"
The void Cassie had always seen in her eyes was now gone. It was still Morgan but his eyes were no longer without light. They are alive and afraid. Morgan raised his hand in surrender.
"I've come to apologize and talk to you ..."
Cassie felt anger boiling inside her. He wanted to change himself, tear Morgan's throat with his fangs and let him die dying in a pool of blood, just as Morgan left his mother to die.
"You shouldn't have come here."
"I'm not that!" The boy shouted.
Cassie keeps feeling Morgan's fear. Morgan was sweating profusely, he was pale, and his heart was pounding. At first Cassie thought she was wasting her chance, that if she really wanted revenge, now was the perfect time. He looked at Morgan's eyes for the last time, then lowered his sword. Morgan continued to look at him in fear, as if he expected Cassie to point the sword at his neck again.
"Are you going to speak or ...?"
"Put the sword down."
"Because I have to? You're armed." Morgan flinched at first, but then he removed his gun belt and dropped it to the ground with a thud.
"Put down your sword now."
Cassie's eyes narrowed in anger. How dare he tell her? But then his rational side came in, and Cassie put down her sword, but didn't put it back in the sheath. At worst, it will be ready to use. He crossed his arms and waited for the boy to speak.
"As I said before, it's not me ..."
"Are you still with this story? Whatchu mean? How could it not be you? I saw you Morgan! I'm never wrong..." Cassie wanted to give more details, but she remembered the fact that, that night, she had almost changed, and Morgan's expression had changed as she looked into her eyes. It's not time to be found.
"They conquered me to kill your mother! My grandfather..."
"What is it?" Cassie's heart is racing. What if George knows everything? Did he send his brother to kill him? After all, even Maia had said that she should have died that night.
"He did it because I had smeared the name of the Wistledes Family. You saw how slick he was! He wanted Wistledes to be on par with the Leightons but it would never be possible, now there was no point in continuing this war..."
"the war? What war?" that Leightons name hit him like a bucket of cold water. Maia called Nathan like that that that day. He looked up, He only remembered that moment before Morgan arrived, Nathan was in the room too, but now he wasn't there. Could he not notice anything? Could it be that she had left him even though she knew that her brother was a source of danger? Cassie stepped forward and stood in front of Morgan.
"So? If you still waste my time, I'll go .."
The boy smiled at him "The Leighton family is the noblest and most powerful family of our time and they have always competed with the Wistledes family. Suddenly one day the daughter of the Head of the Leightons family dies and she ends up falling ill and then dies from the pain of losing her daughter. No other heirs, so the Leightons are extinct."
"There's no heir? Are you sure?"
"That's what they say, but that's not what I want to talk to you about! I said before that my grandfather had no mercy to anyone and now that the competition has gone, he still wants our name to stand out among other families."
"Okay, but what should I do with it?"
"You humiliated me Cassandra... You dropped me! I'm one of the best hunters..."
"Talk politely..."
The boy looked at him :He is not angry, he is not really humiliated, on the contrary! This is the second time I've fought you, but this time you're more fierce and knock me down.."
"But your grandfather congratulated me!"
"It's just acting! My grandfather was a monster... He tortured my father for years and then locked him in prison to rot just because..."
Cassie doesn't need him to continue. He knows why his grandfather did it and he doesn't want to hear it from Morgan "How did he conquer you? What now..."
Morgan smiled bitterly "Do you think there are no vampires or wolves in the Family palace? They don't usually conquer the hunter or at least not the ancestor's heir! I, like other prominent hunters, wore a pendant that protected me from coercion, but it was stolen from me and I never found it. I tried to find him in his office but the monster must have dumped him somewhere or hidden him in his room..."
"So you didn't want to kill my mother..."
"Absolutely not! I have a bad temper, I get angry easily, but I don't kill people! I don't even remember seeing you that night. The compulsion was so strong that it gave me a hallucination ..."
"Halusination?"
