The trip in the afternoon was very warm. A smile he did not spit out anything from his lips for a moment.
Sitting on a bench beside the steering wheel, Seruni stared at the road outside the car.
Recalling the time of her separation before joining her husband, Raka, there was a sense of sadness but happiness that she felt.
Sad because he had to part with the family, happy because finally, he will not get daily nagging rations from mother.
Seruni daydreams stopped when the car driven by Raka entered the courtyard of a house that is quite luxurious. The look did not like to welcome Seruni first time from the father-in-law. Unlike the mother-in-law who looks flat.
There is no warm welcome and happiness that they spend to welcome the arrival of Seruni. This moment was not like the in-laws who greeted the arrival of her daughter-in-law with great joy.
"Welcome, son." Said Raka's mother.
Seruni nodded and kissed her parents-in-law's hands. Although he was not welcomed warmly, but Seruni did not want to be indifferent to his in-laws, right?
This is his first time coming to this house.
"Raka, take your wife to your room, son." The soft voice of Raka's mother, makes Seruni happy.
"Yes Ma'am." answered Raka.
Seruni hurriedly followed Raka's steps towards her room, leaving behind her mother and father who were only silent a thousand languages.
After arranging his clothes into the closet, Seruni out of the room intends to help the mother who cook for dinner.
Mom's smile, I don't know. Impressed more and more forced every time Seruni attended. And what makes Seruni more uncomfortable is the dislike of the father-in-law's gaze towards him.
Apparently, the challenge of Seruni this time is, taking the heart of Raka and her father. Oh my god, what a heavy task this time.
"Mom, make hot coffee with a little sugar, yeah." Raka's father's voice sounded calm but full of authority.
Serunj tried to replace the mother to make coffee for the father.
"Let's just have it, Mom." Seruni said later.
"Yes, don't be too sweet, you don't like sweet drinks." said the mother. Seruni just nodded and took over the glass that was in the grasp of the mother, he brewed coffee and immediately he presented it to the father-in-law.
"This, sir, coffee." Seruni Saying.
"Hmm." His father Raka, short.
I just glanced at it.
Secretly, Seruni was worried because he was afraid that he would not like his coffee.
Seruni returned to the kitchen, intending to continue her activities to help the mother cut vegetables.
Until Seruni's ears heard the loud voice of his father cursing the coffee that Seruni made.
"Huh!! What kind of coffee is this?" Ask in a voice full of anger.
Seruni immediately came out with a pounding heart. His heart is not broken.
"You make coffee does it make you a collectible, anyway? You want me to get diabetic with a sweet drink?" Hardik Raka's father later.
Seruni instantly paled. At the same time, Raka appeared and there was absolutely no intention to defend Seruni, or just cool the mood of the father.
Oh God.
Not a day Seruni became a daughter-in-law in this house, her father-in-law has shown clearly dislike for seruni
"Pardon Runi, father. Bi-biar Runi made a ba, new one". Seruni's voice choked in his throat, as if there was a chunk of stone that made his chest feel tight.
The seruni must be strong, he must be strong!
That's how Seruni whispered power to himself. Hopefully, this is just the wind then that will soon dissipate as time goes on.
"No need!" The voice of the father-in-law, sounded softer but still made Seruni sick. Mom just breathed heavily.
"I'm sorry Seruni, ma'am." Seruni said, looking at mother.
"It's okay. Next time don't repeat." Answer the Seruni mother-in-law.
That's the only sentence that I said before leaving Seruni
He saw Raka just standing up and looked at Seruni with a look that he could hardly understand.
"Mas." Call Seruni to Raka, but Raka turns around. The heart of seruni certainly hurt because of it.
Supposedly, Raka approached Seruni and gave him encouragement and support for his wife to be calmer. In fact, Raka left Seruni and made Seruni mentally fall instantly.
~~
This is the second morning of Raka's marriage with Seruni. After the incident last night, Seruni did not invite Raka to talk or just mince words. Likewise with Raka who does not want to bother with trivial things like that.
Was Raka too much to let his wife get cornered last night? Raka doesn't know.
Raka got up from the floor, folding the prayer rugs that he had used to perform worship. He saw that Seruni had finished praying and left the room. Then, where is he now?
Ah, let it go.
Raka steps her legs out of the house to do a morning exercise routine, even if it is just jogging. When he reached the living room, he heard a noise in the kitchen. Did you cook this early?
Soon Raka decided to check it out. And sure enough, my mother was already there.
Then, where is Seruni?
"Raka, where are you going?" Ask mother.
"You run first thing in the morning, ma'am. Seruni, did Seruni not go to the kitchen from earlier?" Tanya Raka approached her mother, peeping her cheeks at a glance.
Raka saw mom looking up and smiling.
"Oh, he said he wanted to go to the market and asked for a record of groceries that would be bought with mom. He left not long ago. He said he, you give me the shopping money".
Raka was a little surprised by mother's statement. Didn't Raka tell him it was Seruni's pocket money? Not for the kitchen shopping needs of the mother.
Raka knitted her brows as a perplexed omen.
"Is he alone?" Ask Raka.
"Who is Raka, who do you think she's going to go with?" Mother asked back.
"Oh yaudah ma'am, Raka said goodbye." Timpal Raka later.
"Hmmmm careful." said the mother.
The man just nodded and left.
Leaving the mother struggling with her kitchen utensils.
~~
"Mas, are you home? It's tea for you." Seruni Saying.
Wiraka arrived home when the sun had risen a little timggi. He saw Seruni appear with her fresh face.
"Yes." Yeah." Sipping the warm tea that seruni made for Raka, It feels right on the tongue of Raka. "Seruni, let's sit here. I'd like to talk."
Without rebutting, this petite girl complied and sat down before Raka. Right now, they are on the terrace of the house.
"What's up, mas?" ask Seruni curiously.
"You, yesterday did I give you pocket money, not for kitchen shopping, why do you use it for kitchen shopping?" Ask Raka.
"It's okay, ma'am." Answer Seruni.
"Yes, later after college, you come with me to my distro. I haven't been there for a week. Go to college you use an online motorcycle, do not need to bring a motorbike. Later on, wait for me at the stop near the campus. You, it's okay to wait at the stop?" Raka said without feeling.
Raka looked at the petite woman with a smile, and there was no look of offense on her face.
"Yes, it's okay. Oh so mas Raka also has a distro, besides being a lecturer?
Runi just found out." he said.
"Yes, I've had a shower and breakfast. Afraid of being late for school." Said Raka later.
Seruni simply nodded and tailed behind Raka. Until the voice of the father's cry stopped Seruni and Raka's steps.
"Your wife is why not cook and do the kitchen work, Raka?
Does he want to make you die of high blood? Why is the food so salty?"
The voice of the father shrieked, along with the throbbing pain in the heart of Seruni.
Seruni's suffering, it has begun.
