I entered the Hakata station yard while putting my jacket together. Winter has arrived. So from now on, if I want to travel, I have to wear a jacket and a thick scarf. I looked around and saw a couple of lovers standing not far from me. The girl wearing the purple jacket pointed to the sky.
“See! First snow!” yells. It was true, snowflakes began to fall from the sky. The girl's partner just smiled and rubbed her hair, putting away the falling snowflakes. I hurried to take my eyes off them. I changed to look at the end of the red scarf that I knit myself.
The winter wind touched my cheek gently. I exhaled and thin air vapors came out of my mouth. It's getting dusk while I don't want to go home yet. I was still busy observing the trees and streets that began to be lit by twinkling lights. What am I waiting for?
I held the end of my scarf. Actually, this scarf I knitted to give to someone. More precisely to the person I like, Yamada Tadashi. But I can't give it because I don't dare. Tadashi already has a girlfriend. Graduation was soon, and all the students were busy preparing for the university entrance examination. So I thought, other than not wanting to disturb Tadashi and Kurumi's relationship, I didn't have enough time to give this scarf to Tadashi. If this scarf can only be a memory of how I feel about her, I don't mind.
Anyway, this feeling I can't say. Let this feeling stay. Never mind, I won't think about it. I held my hand up, a snow fell and melted instantly when it touched my hand.
I glanced at my watch. Soon the train will come and I'll start to get cold. The snow grains the longer the more that fell, began to cover some parts of the tree. I turned around and walked to enter the station when I suddenly saw Tadashi. His skin looks pale. I think he's cold. I decided to walk towards him.
“Yamada-san?” call me. Tadashi. A thin air vapor blew from his mouth.
“Eh, Taneda-chan. Just want to go home?” tadashi said with a smile, making me a little misbehaved.
“Iya.”
Silent moment.
“Iya, the plan is we want a date first before returning home”, he replied cheerfully. There was an invisible needle that pierced my heart. Tadashi averted his gaze and looked at the trees that were starting to whiten. While I was just staring at him flatly, then thinking of something.
“H-Hey, Yamada-san”, I said again. I removed the scarf that was coiled around my neck. My hands were trembling slightly and my chest was rumbling. Please, Lord, just for once please give me strength!
Tadashi. He looked at me without saying anything.
“I-It. Wear this scarf so you don't get cold”, I said with trembling lips. I can feel my cheeks heating up too. I don't need any more words or answers because I feel relieved.
blink his eyes—bingung. Then, his hand stretched out and took this red scarf from my hand.
“Arigatou”, he said with a smile. My red scarf coiled comfortably around her neck. Tadashi glanced at his watch.
“I have to go”, I said later.
“Ah.. yes, be careful on jalan”, replied Tadashi. I immediately turned around and walked into the station just as the train's arrival bell rang.
I sat on the train bench. Daydreaming, thinking about my meeting with Tadashi. I am grateful to be able to meet and realize to give her my scarf. Next year, in the same season, how will I feel, huh?
