"I'm home..."
Airi's hand opened the door of her unlocked home. The living room was dark and a little light. The sunlight could not penetrate this room. lights too bright was the only lighting that his father installed so he was not afraid of the dark. Living day or night without knowing the time.
You can smell the smell of mouse glue when Airi stepped her foot through the place to the kitchen to find the father stirring something he was on the stove.
Now, Airi's sense of smell is washed because of the smell of onions, celery, and chicken broth hit-and-bump around it.
"Chicken soup? Oh, my God, it smells so good."
Airi approached by sniffing towards the furnace. Just like a puppy at the end of the alley of the family home. Royo laughed at his son's behavior.
"You're home in time. It's ripe." Airi's father hinted her to prepare a small table as well as their tableware.
The girl rushed to do her job after putting the bag with the origin on the floor.
"Isn't dad late? Who's cooking soup at 10 p.m?" Airi laughed a little. Actually, he knew the reason his father cooked this late.
Because this is the moment where Airi is done with all the busy activities and exhausting all day. The two of them will eat together while watching movies to the remnants of the news because that is all that aired on television.
Her father is not much at home, so, as long as he can, Airi does not protest even though dinner is this slow. His father's cooking is worth waiting for.
It's been almost 10 years since Airi's mother died. Royo chose to concern himself with time-consuming work and exertion with a few days off to bury the grief. For a long time, the middle-aged man looked accustomed to the work he was doing.
In fact, there was never again a discussion about the figure of their favorite woman in this house.
To be honest, Airi missed her mother inside out. The accident that befell this family ten years ago claimed the only person who would hug him every night. But, seeing that her father never seemed to want to talk about it, Airi held back. Save all desires to meet him on lonely nights.
"Airi, it looks like you should come back sooner."
Airi who had just scooped one chicken thigh turned to Royo. "He? Isn't this just a few days?"
Usually his father would take at least three weeks off after more than six months of sailing.
"Say the sea is high?" Airi again asked the question, now on the porch peeling the chicken skin with a kosing plant on top of the bowl.
"Dad went to take care of something at the dock."
"Hm, for the next cruise?"
"Yes." Yeah."
"It's a pity that Akane said she'd come here."
Royo who was changing the television channel with a remote controller stopped.
"Akane?"
"Hm." Airi nodded. He feeds a spoonful of soup with meat that has been made into small parts. Ah, it's delicious. How can anyone spend his day on a ship of this moment be so good?
Airi swallowed the food in her mouth then continued, "My friend. The one I introduced to Dad."
"Dad hasn't forgotten, has he? That was just a few hours ago."
His father smiled awkwardly. "O-oh, he. He seems like a good boy."
Royo again sort the impressions, nothing interesting to accompany them to spend the stomach filler.
"He's very good. It'll also be the first time I've had a friend come to my house." Airi smiled widely. She had wanted to tell Akane about her father for a long time. Royo must be happy he can be friends with normal.
"really? I'm happy..." Airi nodded in satisfaction at the father's reply. Exactly as imagined.
"You've known him for a long time?"
"Akane? Nor is it two years. I knew him at the academy. He just came back from abroad." Airi's eyes showed admiration. He remembered what it looked like when a girl greeted him in a foreign language on one of his tough days as a first-rate student.
From then on, they became close friends as they are now, although most of it was spent in school.
"Really?" His father still smiled a little even though he did not look at Airi. The girl did not take a headache and continued eating while telling me some things about Akane or her father.
"Oh, yes. But dad, why aren't you mad at me about what happened?" The soup was almost barren as Airi asked. Finally, Royo turned to his daughter.
"angry? Wouldn't it be more appropriate for me to be sad?"
"Why is dad sad?" Airi started to clean her cutlery. The girl got up leaving their little table on the floor and walked towards the sink.
"You went that far because I couldn't protect you. You should blame me."
Airi turned her head, looking at the old back of her father who was still strapping. Look, Royo didn't even change his mind in the slightest.
"It's not like dad has time. I can take care of myself." Airi whispered to herself. His small voice was submerged with the swiftness of the dishwasher faucet.
"Oh, yes. Airi, who is Jizo?" Airi's hand that was rubbing the fork came to a halt. His head turned back quickly only to find that his father was still in his original position.
"Where did you hear about Jizo?" ask Airi.
"From the school board, of course. Your friend? You guys quarreling?"
"Huh?" Airi gawking. What kind of conclusion is that? In fact, what was his father talking about with the school board until they made such a conclusion?
"No."
"You don't fight."
"No, I mean I'm not his friend." Finally, the answer succeeded in making Royo move his body. He looked at Airi confused.
"You're not friends?"
"Yes." Yeah." Airi answered flatly. He finished the last thing that had to be rinsed.
"He's the boy who said hello to me, right?"
Very good Jizo, leaving a trace on his father. Of all people, why should this father-son talk about the curse's incarnation at rest? Airi crept while drying her hands with a clean cloth hanging in the closet.
"Yes," Airi replied, again in a flat voice.
"He looks smart."
"No, he's stupid, stupid, and annoying."
"..."
Airi who was just about to reach for her backpack lying on the floor suddenly regained consciousness. Jesus, did he just blaspheme Jizo in front of his father?
"You don't like him?"
Airi really wanted to end this conversation. He no longer wanted to let go of Jizo. It's been a mess all day. Don't go to sleep and still have to hear his name.
"But I think it's okay to be friends with him."
Indeed, Airi's father would never have said that if he had seen half of Jizo's behavior in Airi's life. In fact, today he was in trouble because of it. Her father does not understand Airi and Jizo's situation.
"Dad, can you please stop discussing him? I'm tired." Airi walked towards her own room.
Royo turned his head, looking at Airi's movements that were clearly uncomfortable.
"You guys got into a fight?"
"Dad! I asked about that!" Airi scowled not like. For God's sake, the girl was already eager to get a quiet life without Jizo's concern.
"Dad just asked..."
"No. We're not even friends, dad." Airi took a breath. It will not end. He better finish up here and go take a shower and go to bed.
"Airi, can I give you one more input?" Inevitably, out of respect and courtesy, Airi turned her head once again.
"Dad just thought you seemed to have to find another friend besides Akane." His father's voice was firm. Airi was surprised not to play.
"Well?!" That was the only thing that escaped the girl's mouth.
"Dad, what the fuck? Dad, I finally have a friend! Buddy! And it's Akane! Then now you want me to stop when you just saw her once? You want me to be alone for the rest of my life?"
Airi exploded. The rest of her energy she uses to talk, not calm herself down. He was already bothered by Jizo's remarks this afternoon about this, and his father was like dousing gasoline over a fire.
Akane who accompanied him through the academy days is tiring and now the most important person in his life wants him to stay away from his own best friend? No kidding.
Akane spends more time with him than Royo.
Airi now completely walked into her room after hanging the door. No more patience. He put himself on the bed.
Forgot to clean up, as well as his apology letter. All Akane thought about was a random mix of black and white about the most exhausting day of her life.
