Suddenly, a hard object landed on Shaurya's shoulder with a thud.
And he stopped breathing!
He did not dare to move a muscle, even to peek at the girl sleeping on his shoulder. He did not want to do anything that would cause him to wake up.
He could feel his gentle breath on his neck and it made all the cells in his body come alive.
But after a while, Shaurya could not control it anymore and twisted his neck to the side to see the sleeping beauty next to him.
As usual, her hair was braided back and she was happy tonight. It gave him a clear view of his face as he slept with his head thrown over his shoulder.
Thankfully it was dark and the boatmen around them could not see the intensity on his face as he sank into his face.
Her long eyelashes are straight and touch the chewy cheeks that curve into her slightly open mouth. He frowned at something in his dream and a line appeared between his thick eyebrows.
Even before he recorded his actions or tried to stop him, his long finger had found its way between his eyebrows, smoothing the gap there.
******* came out of Mriga's mouth and she sank deeper in the curve of her neck, protecting her face from her eyes.
Adam's apple oscillates around Shaurya's neck as he tries to ignore his pressing tenderness and his unique scent that has invaded his senses.
Her lips teased close to the skin on her neck, now. He could feel his body becoming tense.
It was a 'great torture'.
"Lord, how long is it to the river bank?" thought to himself.
...****************...
Prithvi walks into his empty house and starts preparing a small bag. His colleague had left a message saying that his troops were offered a show in a nearby town and he would be away for the next few days.
Prithvi knows that his subordinates are surprised by his decision to go undercover for a seemingly minor matter. But his intuition urged him to investigate this incident closely.
By the time he received the information about the businessman, he had not paid any closer attention to his source but now he was wondering about his tip.
In the past two decades, he had never ignored the warnings his mind emitted, even if later proved wrong. He learned his lesson the hard way. Better safe than sorry!
Standing in front of his hidden closet, he observed the various costumes hanging there and finally decided to dress up as a fashionable upper-class man. She changed the make-up style she used to do, turning her into a completely different person.
After half an hour, her thick kohl-coated eyes were rubbed clean and her long, open hair braided and tucked under a short-haired wig.
He was wearing a kurta that fit a long pantalon, not his overflowing robe that touched the ground. He took off the bracelet from his wrist as well.
Finally, a tall and skinny man stood in the room. Satisfied with her performance, she picked up some sheet music and slipped out of the house after it became dark.
His first stop was outside the merchant's house where informant Shaurya was standing waiting for him. There was a quick but short exchange of tightly rolled reels between them. Prithvi continued walking while the young man stood there a little longer before re-entering.
Next, Prithvi went and stood in a queue outside a restaurant. Someone passed by him, stuffing a piece of paper into his kurta pocket. Prithvi remained in line until his turn had not yet arrived.
Stepping inside the place, he directed his gaze across the room before finding a table that had one person sitting on it.
"Can I sit here?" he asked politely, which made the man shrug his shoulders indifferently.
Prithvi ordered for himself and continued to stare at the surrounding crowd. The man finished eating and pushed his plate. Emitting a loud and satisfying burp, he got up from the table.
But when he reached the cashier table, the man suddenly fainted. Before anyone could reach him, Prithvi was there and leaned over to help lift the unconscious man.
"I'm afraid my friend drank too much alcohol today before arriving here. I apologize for the inconvenience. Let me pay off the bill on his behalf," he politely told the cashier.
Seeing that everything was fine, the people continued eating them and Prithvi left from there, dragging the man.
...****************...
An hour later the man woke up confused and blinked his eyes.
Peering at the person sitting in front of him, he looked surprised and said,
"Shalabh?"
Prithvi did not say anything and waited for the man to speak more.
Looking closer, he said,
"No, you're not him. Whoareyou? Where am I?"
The man did not sound frightened and instead raised his voice, with an authoritative attitude.
"What is the real purpose behind the new drug?" Prithvi's soft voice was barely heard in the dark place where they were at the moment.
The man was confused by the question. Of all things, he did not expect this question.
He looked at Prithvi carefully, "I don't know what you're talking about. How dare you bring me here? I'll report you to the authorities."
The man tried to get up from the chair he was sitting in, only to find that he could not move. She's confused.
...****************...
"Ah, are you wondering that even though I didn't tie you up, why can't you move? Yeah, you have your medicine, and I have my medicine. This one is actually a new invention. It paralyzes the person's limbs, neck, and lower parts. Makes my job a lot easier. You can't run away or fight, no matter what I do for you," Prithvi said in an almost carefree tone.
The first trace of fear was seen in the man's eyes as he tried to move his legs.
"Now that you know about your predicament, do you want me to torture you a little or are you good enough to help and answer my questions, without much ado?" tanyanya, as if offering tea or coffee.
"I have absolutely no idea what you want. Bringing me here is just a waste of your time and you will soon realize it" the man snapped.
Prithvi sighed, as if disappointed by the man's answer.
"I hope it won't happen like this. You see, I didn't have time for dinner and my blood sugar was a little low. I'm not trying to use any physical force on you right now but you leave me with no choice" he sighed and pulled pliers out of his pocket and started plucking the man's fingernails one by one.
"Tell me when you want me to stop," he raised his voice above the man's cry for his voice to be heard.
“Quite.. stop,” shouted the man in a hoarse voice after his hands bled.
Prithvi had pulled the man's nails one after another, not even allowing him a single moment to breathe before the next attack of pain hit him.
"Are you sure you're ready to talk? Because toenails won't take too long. Maybe we can talk right after everything's done, hmm?" he asked gently.
"No, I. I'm ready to talk now," the man pleaded.
He was shivering due to the side effects of the acute pain he had just experienced. Born and raised in an upper-class household, he was the son of a wealthy merchant. Nothing is lacking in his life. It would be perfect except when she grew up, she found her fetish to engage in violent sexual activity.
His favorite fantasy is to squeeze the neck of a woman in the middle of making out with him, otherwise the experience is not enough to satisfy him.
Unfortunately, due to Chandragarh's strict laws, no brothels allow such activities to be carried out outside the safe limits. After nearly killing his shy wife several times, he had been warned by the family hard enough that he would not.
Traveling to work in a neighboring country, she has found the law loose from brothels there and has been hooked ever since. But in the months that followed, her needs increased and resulted in the death of a prostitute.
"So, it's been going on for months now, isn't it? I want a detailed list of all the tasks they have assigned you to do on their behalf," Prithvi said grimly.
Half an hour later, the man collapsed, possibly from exhaustion or blood loss. Prithvi doesn't care. It seems that the drugs are just the tip of the iceberg that Prithvi and the team have discovered.
He got up to get out of there. Someone must be called in to clean up the mess. He also needs to arrange for the man to be handed over to the authorities. He wanted the forces behind these traitors to realize that they had been found.
Waita minute.
He spun sharply and went to fetch a jug of water. Due to the splash of hard and cold water, the tormented man opened his eyes.
"Ap... what? I've told you everything I know, I swear," she begged.
Interpreting the unpleasant expression on Prithvi's face properly, he fouled his pajamas.
"sorry. I forgot to ask you two questions. Once you answer honestly, it will be over. Aki promised," said Prithvi in a deceptive soft voice.
The man became cold from fear at that tone. How does the interrogator sound more dangerous when speaking softly?
...****************...
Five minutes later
A group of city scavengers reached the place and nodded subtly towards Prithvi as he walked out of the place. They know what to do.
Upon reaching the house, Prithvi closed the door and leaned on her.
"I'm not competent enough. How am I supposed to miss this complicated web of scams?" he scolded himself hard.
She removed the make-up and changed back to her usual clothes. After packing another bag carefully, he walked towards Gurukul.
It's time to act, self-loathing can wait.
Saraswati and Ramanujam stood with grim faces while receiving instructions.
"I had requested a meeting with the Queen before I set out for the mission" he told them.
"But when will you be back? How do we contact you in case of an emergency?" Saraswati asked with a trembling voice.
Being part of the Suraksha Chakra team for so long, he has learned how to maintain his composure, no matter what the circumstances. But tonight, it was a difficult request for him to behave like a responsible member.
"The two of you are quite capable of handling all emergencies. I expect perfection from one of you," with an expressionless face, Prithvi came out.
Prithvi didn't even have a minute to waste. There are too many things to do and time is of the critical essence. He has asked the scavengers to notify the police at any given time and there are some tasks that need to be done before then.
The stone-faced Ramanujam stood in the room, still staggering under revelation. Who would have thought the meeting with the traitor spy at the annual Chandragarh fair was the starting point of this series of events. Shaurya's identity has been compromised that night, because of him.

Northern Zilla
Mriga was awakened by the loud screams of the boatmen communicating with each other about approaching the riverbank. With guilt she moved away from Shaurya's shoulder.
So much to take care of him!
Instead of taking care of his well-being, he fell asleep on it instead. Thankfully, he was also asleep and was unaware of the accident. He would be ashamed to face her otherwise. Shaurya could feel his uneasiness and continued to close his eyes until the boat did not hit the riverbank.
"Let me help the kids get off all the boats. I'll come back for you. Until then, there were no heroic acts," she whispered to him and waited until she gave a small nod.
It was still morning and the sky was pink, waiting for the sun to appear.
Bela had decided to come and pick up her daughter this time before leaving for her shift. Raghu was at home, cooking happily and waiting for his favorite person to come.
"It would be more efficient if I went to pick her up and you completed her chores. This way we'll both have enough time with her" she told her husband.
...****************...
Mriga, on the other hand, wonders how to explain to her mother and father about Shaurya. He was relieved to see only one old man at this time and had already prepared his reason but his mother did not ask anything. In fact, he walked into the boat and helped Shaurya down.
With a straight face, he said, "It would be easier and faster if we both supported him from each side while walking home. But before proceeding, let's stop at the nearest well to remove the makeup."
Mriga and Shaurya looked at Bela with identical shocked expressions.
He shrugged and said, "Someone wrote to me explaining the situation. I've identified a place for you to live. Until you don't recover, stay there. After you got better, come and apply for an internship with my husband to work in the field."
Both young people struggled to receive instructions. It seemed that Bela knew more than the two of them and had already made provisions for the near future.
"Thank you! I'm very grateful for his help and I'm sorry for inconveniencing you in the future" Shaurya said humbly.
Mriga's eyes turned into a large round pot. This was the first time she had heard him use such a tone with someone. Even when talking to Guruji, he was never this polite.
Bela gave him a warm smile in response.
The trip to Mriga's house was completed almost in silence. As soon as their footsteps touched the courtyard, the door opened and Raghu stepped out with a wide grin.
"How's my favorite... uh, any guests?" his brows furrowed in surprise and bewilderment.
"This is my friend Veer's son from the capital. My friend heard about your successful breakthrough in agriculture and was very impressed. Veer is very interested in becoming a farmer and wants to study under you for a few days. He asked me for the same thing and I accept on your behalf, knowing the generous nature of your heart. Unfortunately, before coming here, Veer was attacked by a boar. So, I told my friend to send her here with Mriga to help her recuperate and then learn from her. You, later. Sorry, I forgot to tell you about it. Due to the increased work at the station, it really crossed my mind, "Bela spoke in a persuasive tone.
It was a day full of surprises. First Shaurya and now his mother???
During his fifteen years of existence, Mriga had never heard his mother use such a coquettish tone with her father. It seems that Raghu is equally confused by it.
Using his confusion as his agreement, Bela came forward and said,
"Thank you, baby. I know you're gonna be okay about this."
DARLING!
Did he really call her a darling? Mriga silently bit her finger to check if she was trapped in a strange dream.
Shaurya grinned as he watched the father-daughter duo put on a confused expression.
Using the element of surprise to conquer an enemy is a good tactic but not many manage to execute it.
Mriga's mother was amazing. Maybe he will really learn something during his stay here!
Raghu looked at his wife worriedly. He put her in an awkward position.
First, he brought a strange boy into the house without consulting him and then he behaved like a teaser in front of the children, keeping him quiet.
Now, how could he say no?
Raghu's father once ran a dispensary that was eventually given to other medical practitioners after his death because Raghu had no interest in studying medicine. But the premise is still his.
Behind the clinic, there was a small room where Raghu's father used to live during his last days. The room was empty except for sleeping cots and benches. That's where Bela wants Shaurya to stay for the coming weeks.
