Chapter 28: The heavy decision

The footsteps echoed in the hospital hallway. Two men's wide steps lead to a room that reads VIP 05.

Nic was about to push the door, but a stampede on his shirt collar caused him to immediately stop his intention, "remember don't make him angry, otherwise you'll know the consequences." David warned!" Nic just kept quiet not wanting to argue, he brusquely brushed David off, then walked in. While David himself did not come in, he was standing at the door.

Looked at that girl, Cherry. He drooped limp on the bed with his eyes closed, Nic staring at him blankly. Slowly there was movement in Cherry's fingers, it seemed that the girl was starting to regain her consciousness.

"Nic," he murmured softly, squinting his gaze.

"What are you here for?" Cherry said in an angry tone.

Nic fell silent, the words he made lost after he confronted his lover, "why are you doing this? You want to die?" Nic puts emphasis on his words.

"What am I living for? If the last reason to stay alive even wants to leave me!" Cherry rubbed her smooth cheeks that looked wet.

"Cherry I'm sorry, I don't want to cancel our engagement, I just want to put it off for a while." Nic tried to explain carefully.

"The reason?!"

"There's a reason I can't tell you."

Cherry laughed mockingly, "let's just say, that you like Khanza too right? He's the reason you stopped our engagement."

Nic just fell silent, confused as to what to say. On the other hand what Cherry said is true, but she can't possibly admit it for now, seeing the mental condition of Cherry like this, most likely she will not hesitate to do more extreme things.

Nic approaches and cupped Cherry's cheeks with both hands "it's not right, I just love you, it's just you." Nic closed his eyes as he said the most difficult words of his life.

"You're a liar!" Cherry lashed out softly at Nic's chest venting her frustration.

"I'm not lying. I'm sorry, don't cry." Nic wiped Cherry's cheeks gently, not forgetting to pin a faint smile on her lips.

"If you're not lying, prove it to me."

"What do you want me to do?"

"Married me!"

Degs... Something seemed to grab Nic's chest, for a moment his heart stopped beating, "Married?!" Nic repeated the word marriage as if it wasn't clear enough.

"Hem, don't you want to?" challenge Cherry.

"Cherry, I think for the wedding... You know our relationship has only been going on for a few months. Marriage is too soon for our relationship" Nic refuses subtly.

"So you don't want to marry me?! So what is our relationship for? For your satisfaction? Or to hurt me?" Cherry again sobbed this time her voice filled the entire room.

"Not so-,"

"Enough! Nic, enough! I don't want to hear any excuses from you." Cherry covered her ears with her palm. Making Nic instantly speechless, Cherry's behavior like this makes Nic confused about what to do.

"Cherry!" David yells at Cherry's cry.

"What did you tell him?" Urged David full of emphasis, his eyes seemed as if they were about to jump out.

"You...!" David again ignited emotions he was about to throw his fist at Nic's face, but Cherry's screams stopped him.

"Enough! I don't want to live anymore, my reputation and my career ruined, there's no point in me living!" Nic and David immediately looked in the right direction, seeing Cherry the girl was standing near the balcony guardrail.

"Cherry, what are you doing?!" Shouts David hysterically.

"Cherry, don't act stupid, please stay away from there." Nic pleaded with a panicked face.

Hmph, Cherry shook her head, "Nicholas, persuade him, if he gets to the point you're responsible!" david shouted like a madman.

Nic's brain is spinning hard looking for a way to persuade Cherry, "Cherry, let's get engaged okay, after that we just got married. Don't do this stupid thing, what about me? You said we'd have twins, boys and girls, who look like me and girls look like you. After that we'll go around the world together, with our children, don't you want to make that dream come true?" Nic slowly approaches as Cherry is glued to Nic's words.

"You're gonna lie again!" Sobs, Cherry powder.

"No, this time I promise you our engagement will happen." Nic smiles reassuringly, Cherry looks into his eyes with a faint look, and Bruk, in the next second Cherry falls in Nic's arms unconscious.

Prok...Prok...Proks

The sound of applause accompanied by loud laughter echoed in a room with minimal lighting. His laughter seemed very satisfied with what he saw.

"Good, your acting cannot be doubted. That's why I chose you, baby!" It can be guessed from his voice, if the man was drunk heavily.

"Come here tomorrow, I miss you so much" he said in a sensual tone.

[Lord seems like tomorrow, I-I can't.] The answer was from a phone call.

"Don't test my patience, I know all your secrets. If he knew what you really were, do you think the Nelson family would accept you? Don't try to be so smart, or you'll know the consequences." His threat was full of emphasis.

The man disconnected his phone, accompanied by a smirk smile.

Cherry's body shook after she picked up the phone, "Cherry what's wrong?" Cherry almost jumped so surprised, she did not expect Nic would quickly return.

"It's okay, Nic, I was told that for a while I was laid off from the company, they said I could work after this news had subsided."

"Let's calm down, once our engagement is over, everything's gonna be fine." Nic rubbed Cherry's head slowly.

"Eat, I've bought you the food you want, so you can recover quickly." Nic sat down and was about to feed Cherry.

"Nic-," Cherry's words came to a halt, she seemed hesitant to say.

"Say?"

"Regarding Khanza?" Nic sighs heavily, responding to Cherry who still thinks that Khanza is a threat to her relationship with Nic.

"Cherry, me and Khanza are just, guys," Nic confirmed the friend at the end of his sentence, "i've been with him a long time, if I like him, I've been with him for a long time, even the one who gave me the idea to approach you was him. Cherry, stop thinking bad about her, she's a good girl, she's like a sister to me." Strictly Nic, reassuring.

'Slowly realizing it was a painful thing, had I realized how I felt in the first place, it would not have been like this.' Nic smiled weakly at Cherry, she was unable to do anything else even though her heart wanted to, but one's life was more important.
