Chapter 49: Partner in Crime

Janu assures that Cheryl's psychiatric condition has stabilized. This day he only accompanied his wife who continued to grieve over Michan's death.

"Are you ready to listen to this?" ask Janu.

Cheryl nodded. He wanted to know what happened to Michan until there was such shocking news.

"Michan died of murder in the basement of his parking lot" Janu said.

"Who killed him?"

"Nobody knows, including the police. All the CCTVs leading to the CTF were deliberately tampered with. But, none of Michan's stuff they stole, except for her lost phone. If they really intend to rob, should take a car or cash that is quite a lot in Michan's wallet. They just brought their cell phones. Do you know anything?" Janu spoke in a soft tone to extract information from Cheryl.

Cheryl tries to recall her conversation with Michan. "She said someone had followed her the last few days. I can't believe they ended up doing that to Michan." she cupped her hands to her face. Seraya took a long breath.

Janu recalls that Thor also said he had told people to keep an eye on Michan. However, they are so misled that they do not know who the killer is.

"Did he have a problem with someone?" telisik Janu's.

Cheryl shakes. "He's a friendly type of person, easy to like anywhere. He also prefers to give up. So, it seems like he has no problem with close people."

"There must be something right, on his cell phone to make Michan have to be killed?"

Cheryl seemed to remember something. "He said he found the phone of a man whose photos were terrible! He said it was likely the owner was the killer!"

Cheryl's sure that guy must be the culprit.

"Did he know the face of the culprit?" asked Janu curiously.

Cheryl nodded. "Michan took pictures of them."

"Is the picture on the stolen phone?"

"No. I asked for a photo of the culprit but he said it was on the other phone. He's got two cell phones."

Janu concludes that Michan is targeted because he has learned a big secret.

"Michan said it was likely they killed both my parents" Cheryl said. She is saddened to learn that Michan once promised to help her catch the killer of her parents.

"Ah, yes. Michan said she found a strange document about Pat Atmajaya Sentosa in the office. He's been hiding it somewhere. He should have shown it to me today."

Janu was stunned to hear that. It turned out that the obnoxious woman who looked like a spoiled child before him knew more than him. Michan is targeted because there is a big secret that he knows.

"Follow me!" janu Pinta.

He took Cheryl's hand to go with him to the study. He pressed a button that was closed so that a secret room was open.

Cheryl was stunned to see the room. When he ransacked Janu's workspace, he didn't know there was another room there.

"Finn, show the CCTV footage of the office the last two days!" Janu's orders.

He pulled Cheryl to sit on his lap. Cheryl turned her eyes round, the man had no qualms about acting like that in front of Finn. He was about to sit down by himself, but Janu held him back to stay still in his lap.

CCTV footage is showing. The day went on as usual. Michan looked healthy and cheerful as always. There are no strange signs. Finn sped up the recording trying to find out the odd stuff.

"Sir, the footage on the CCTV camera over here seems to be broken."

Finn found several cameras in several corners of the office damaged. The activities Michan was doing at the time could not be seen.

"Ah, that's Michan's dress that looks different!" exciting Cheryl.

They look back at the footage Cheryl was referring to and compare it to the footage before Michan entered the warehouse.

"It looks like it happened in the warehouse" Janu said.

"Yes, do it well, Finn."

Janu turned his gaze to Cheryl.

"Why?" cheryl asked because Janu looked at her strangely.

"Can you ask for your help, honey?"

"What help?"

"You must know Michan's apartment access code, right?" ask Janu to make sure.

"Yes, of course." Cheryl still can't guess what's on Janu's mind.

"Tonight, we go in there."

Cheryl stunned. Janu was persuading him to commit an unlawful act. "I don't dare. We can get arrested by the police" Cheryl said.

"That's if caught, so don't get caught," said Janu.

"We have to ask permission from Michan's family" Cheryl said innocently.

"There's no thief asking the homeowner for permission, honey. We have to do it secretly."

Cheryl did not dare to do so. Despite knowing the access code of Michan's apartment, he never dared to casually enter the apartment of his good friend.

"You don't worry, Thor is there to help secure the CCTV and the surroundings. I just need your help to open the door. Even if you don't want to, I can break the door myself. But, maybe I'll be a police fugitive for ruining people's facilities."

Cheryl still shook her head.

"Don't you want to catch the man who killed Michan? The phone and the documents may be there. We need to move quickly before the police develop a case."

After thinking for a while, Cheryl agreed. Later that night, he and Janu leave for Michan's apartment. Finn and Thor perform their respective duties.

Thor gives the code when they meet in the parking area. Codes are given safe condition markers and CCTV will be disabled immediately for 30 minutes after they arrive. Do not forget they wear gloves and masks so that no one recognizes them.

Janu clasped Cheryl's hand. "Don't be afraid, yeah!" her door.

Cheryl just nodded.

Upon arrival in front of Michan's apartment, they see the surrounding conditions before Cheryl presses the number button to enter the apartment. With ease.

Lights on. The condition of Michan's apartment is still neatly arranged as usual.

"We split up to find him. We only have 30 minutes. If you can, look for it in a place Michan used to store it in" Janu said.

Cheryl agreed. They scatter around the apartment to find anything that can be used as a clue.

Cheryl goes into Michan's room. On the table there is a frame that displays their photos since the time of college. It's so moved. In his heart he was determined to find the man who had killed his best friend. They have to account for it.

He combed through the piles of books, who knows can find the file Janu meant. However, it seems that it was not found.

"Darling, is this Michan's cell phone?" asked Janu who approached Cheryl in the room.

Janu showed me the phone. "Ah, yes, right," Cheryl said.

"But, his phone's using a password." Janu can't open it.

Cheryl took the phone and entered the code number. Successfully open. It turns out that Michan used the same code as the apartment door code.

He opened Michan's photo gallery. A video was found that clearly recorded who did it.
