Mandalas

Mandalas
First Offensive

The night has covered Trikad since 4 hours ago. A full full full moon rose to illuminate the night, rivaling the light of the lamp. The city began to quiet. No summer concerts this week. The last tram had already left the center of the city and was heading towards its stop. Office buildings were empty, restaurants and

nightclubs turn on lights visible from the outside. The sound from inside the club was completely blocked by the sonic silencer, so the city became completely silent.

The soldiers on the eastern wall border changed their turn. Four people in each observation post, 2 people under the entrance of the post. The eastern wall of Trikad has a higher thickness than the other side because of its border with the sea. Electromagnetic shielding has a higher magnetic current on this side.

The sea seemed to rumble, it seemed like it was going to tide. According to the manometer on the post screen, the wind blows at a speed of 80km/h. There's a storm tonight. Radar does not catch anything, nor do birds and other animals.

A black shadow emerged from the rest of the waves that hit the shoreline and formed a ball. The black sphere enlarged and turned into a creature-like, four-legged, animal,

long-tailed and head muzzled with his tongue outstretched. The animal grew up to approximately 2 meters wide by half a meter. One of the soldiers ran into the observation post and lit a siren that echoed throughout the city. The animal shook its head and began

moving forward, walking briskly was like wanting to break through the towering metal wall in front of him.

Lasers were shot but the sand and coral were scattered by a laser that penetrated the animal, like a shadow. Inside the post, there were now more soldiers in brown uniforms and large radiator guns. All lined up and aimed at the animal that kept moving like it was unaffected by anything.

“Commander, electric current has been flowed into this side wall. Ready to release surprise.”

Commander Ri, a fat old man wearing a green uniform and a pointed triangular hat with many stars, stands in the middle of the post. He took a short breath and replied, “Surprise.”

All the soldiers wore rubber gloves and held on postal support posts that were also covered in thick rubber. Commander Ri was wearing his own gloves. Soldiers reporting electric current prepare to press the “Kajut” button in the post panel.

The animal is getting closer. Just a little more, it will stick to the metal wall. “Now!” exclaim Commander Ri. There were sparks of electric current flowing from various Trikad walls through the laser wire in front of them. Like a thunderbolt, the metal electrocuted animals that had been attached to their metal walls.

The electric current slowly decreases. All eyes were on the monitor at the observation post.

The animal kept on crawling up.

There was a panicked sound from most of the soldiers in the post. Whatever they do, the animal does not stop. He crept higher and higher, soon the animal will pass through the observer post and into the electromagnetic field that has not recovered due to the surprise attack.

Commander Ri struck a star pin on his chest, a hologram in the shape of a white-haired woman with a tiara appearing before them.

              “Unsuccessful, Neena.”

The hologram woman frowned. He looked displeased, his wise face became stern and said, “Call Mandala. Now!”

Right after the woman spoke, the large animal passed the observation post and jumped through the city wall without being stopped by anything. The animal landed on a tall tree, took to a dirt road, got into a path and started crawling at high speed towards a small alley on 56th street.

A white van drove through the main street of the city center. The van was carrying a large silver spear strapped to the roof of the car. Five men in white sleeveless suits, with no underwear and white denim covered the assortment of silvery weapons available in the van. Their white suits had crescent moon emblems on the upper left side that were now brightly lit. A big bald man, touching his coat of arms. A grey-haired male hologram appeared before them.

“I hope you can. If our guess is correct, this is a very serious threat to Trikad.”

The man nodded in understanding. “We will try. This mace should be able to kill the creature.”

“Hust be able. We count on you.”

Then the hologram of the woman disappeared. Four others looked at. “You sure about this Gada? I don't know how big the creature is right now, but it seems bigger than we've ever faced, right?” one of the curly brunettes asked nervously.

The bald man just grunted softly. All the Mandalas in that van know this isn't the usual Lentipede. No one was sure whether this mission could succeed or not. Even the man did not know if he would still be able to live in the morning.

“No idea, Yu. No one knows. But, as a human protector, we should convince the protected to keep hoping, right?” Another smaller man replied.

“Lying again for good,” another bald-headed woman's lips. Van's approaching 56th. There was no sound other than the roar of the van engine, but the lights on the road seemed dimmer than the other roads.

“I'm not lying. I told you this Gada should be able to kill that thing. Yes, it should be,” said the bald man.

The van stops in front of 56th street and turns perfectly so that the back door of the van opens right in front of the road. “But, this Gada has just been tested in the lab, there has been no field test stating its effectiveness rate.” The other man who had sacrificed finally opened his voice.

The five of them jumped out of the van and prepared arrows, spears, rifles, machetes and a large mace held by the bald man.

               “He's right, Friend.”

The bald man stretched his neck and body, preparing to advance. All four of his friends did the same.

“But, they don't need to know it.”

Simultaneously, they touched the white boots to the surface of the road.  Silvery blue smoke emerged from under the boot and carried them flying, darting into 56th street.

Silver cloth slid from inside the white coat, following the shape of the body to cover their arms and bodies. “Light on the floodlight,” Bald Man's voice is heard from behind each earphone. Five floodlights emerged from the protective mask, featuring a narrower street than the main street and closed shops. Most shops sell trinkets that glow when the floodlight shines on the store.

They landed slowly and spread out making a pyramid formation with the bald man at the very front peak. Floodlight down the streets and shops to the small alley. There's nothing there. The curly haired woman took off her mask, “Where did the creature go?”.

“Yu! Put your mask back on! We don't know how strong it is..”.

The turban man's words were interrupted due to Yu's scream. They all gasped as they saw a huge black creature nearly 2 meters tall slithering slowly closer to the bald man. The creature does not disappear like a shadow if exposed to floodlights, but is semi-transparent so that the streets and shops behind it can be faintly seen.

The bald woman took her bow, positioned herself, and prepared to release a silver arrow towards the creature. The man aimed at the creature's head with a long shotgun, preparing to shoot. The skinny man and Yu brandished the spear simultaneously. They were waiting for the cue from the bald man.

Slowly the bald man lifted the Gada over his big shoulder. The cudgel shone a silvery blue as the bald man touched its base. The creature seemed to be attracted by the light from the Gada and shook its head. His long tongue stuck in and out like he wanted to eat food.

And suddenly the creature crept very fast, ready to pounce on the bald man. “Maha!” scream the bald woman. “Formation ready!” The bald man raised his free hand. Yu and the skinny man stomped the boot and floated, their spear positions ready to draw the creature in the air.

The creature is creeping closer. Ten more meters. All hands were fixed on the giant creature. They are in an attacking position.

              Two more meters.

              “Now!”

The weapons were launched towards the creature's head. Two spears pierced through the creature's neck from both sides, arrows pierced into the esophagus, and the victim's rifle bullet became a barrage of attacks to the top of his head. Raising his Gadanya higher to hit the creature that is already in front of his eyes, “Death, you!”

In one blow, the mace hit the creature's head and a silvery blue light entered the creature's head and then flowed throughout its body. Maha held the Gada still hit the head of the creature while screeching loudly.

The creature's head was removed from its body. His body was still writhing and did not stop moving.

“Not dead?!” screams the skinny guy panicking.

The bald woman pulled the big machete from under her cloak. He ran to the left side of Lentipede while slashing

the creature's body. The man took the fallen spear and did the same on the right side of the creature. Then together Maha raised his hammer back and hit the rest of the creature's body in a row. Moments later, the Lentipede became increasingly light and transparent. The moment the creature disappeared, they all stopped swinging their respective weapons.

The black scarf was left behind the tip of the spear and arrow that had stuck in the body of the creature. But the big mace was intact without a trace. The cudgel still shimmered silvery blue. Grasping

the base of the Gada, shook it slightly, and the light was slowly extinguished. The skinny man took out a spray bottle. A white mist gushed out from within the bottle as he pressed the tip. The entire Mandala sank into the fog for a few seconds, which then disappeared again.

“The street light is not on yet. It looks like the creature damaged the connecting current of this road,” said the skinny man.

“You okay?” yu asked while helping Maha stand up. The Surban also helped Maha. “Ya, thank you.”

“and it seems so Bon. This time Lentipede has really evolved,” replied Maha.

“But, that's impossible! Lentipede only attacks organic creatures. Our electrical circuit is just copper wires, there is no life in the electrical connection,” said the bald woman.

“Then, why is the electricity on this road dead? Shorted due to the wall attack?” ask the Surban. Bon and the bald woman suddenly flinched. “Or lest the creature really attack the organic creature.”

They both activated the boot and flew in search of the circuit connection of that road. Bon stopped at the end of the road and pulled the bald woman. “Maha, Joke, Ayu you guys better get here,” call Bon through their earphones. Then, the three flew over to Bon and the bald woman.

“Oh, no!” jerrit Ayu's. In front of them lay a figure of a woman in her 20s with her gray T-shirt and knee-length denim pants. His eyes widened, his body not moving. His left hand was stuck in an open electrical connection box. Some of the cables are scorched.

“Have died,” Bon said as he closed the woman's eyes. “What is he doing here? I mean it's almost midnight,” asked Ayu, his arm clasped the body's hand, hoping the woman would just fall asleep. “Want to fight that creature?” joke replied hesitatingly.

“I'm not sure,” says Bon. “See, his hand is stuck inside the circuit box.” Their floodlights shone on the box. There was a shadow of some old utensils left in it.

“She was doing something with the circuit, then died, and the creature came,” guess the bald woman. “or.”

“Lentipede killed him first, then his hooked hand shut off the power connection,” Maha said.

“That means this area must be cleaned,” Bon turns on his shoes and flies back. “Or will appear new Lentipede from his body.”

“We must hurry to call headquarters,” exclaims Joke. All the Mandalas moved away from the place, except Yu. The woman looked hit. Bon came down to take Yu away.

“Honey, get your hands off the body,” whispered slowly.

              “Or we all die.”
