13. Let Them

07:08 AM. Penthouses.

Morning's approaching.

Laurine felt uncomfortable when Xavier continued to hold her tightly with the position of the body that was both lying on this bed.

After the incident last night, Xavier did not drive her straight home on the grounds of Laurine's safety.

Then Xavier took Laurine to the man's house to stay the night. The problem was not just staying overnight, Laurine was also surprised when Xavier also slept one bed with her.

From last night Xavier kept hugging Laurine and never for a second let go of the hug. It felt like Laurine was clumsy to be in this kind of intimate position with Xavier after all this time.

In the past, if one of them hugged or hugged each other was common. But not with now. Because things have changed too.

Laurine could clearly see the calm face of Xavier sleeping from a close distance. So calm his heart and again make the woman's face redden inexplicably.

Xavier hugged Laurine tightly and stayed asleep. So tight that Laurine can feel the comfort of Xavier's chest to be a backrest.

Of course both Laurine and Xavier know very well what they did last night. The ego of both is still high and frankly bad events will not be easily forgotten.

But, the feeling can always defeat logic. Until finally they kissed each other to vent the longing that had been long held for 7 years.

Ah, remembering that back makes Laurine embarrassed!

"Take me off" said Laurine quietly in a raucous voice.

"Be quiet" Xavier scolded when he felt Laurine trying to escape from her arms.

"I haven't slept this late in years. So don't go and lend me your body. Just a little while"

Laurine grinned why Xavier made her body as a sleeping pill.

"Why? Why can't you sleep well for that long?" laury asked whispering.

"Because you. I'm like this because of you"

"Then forget me. You can't keep living like that. That's not good"

"I'm not the one who can forget the past so easily. I have a sense of guilt. Even though it wasn't really me"

The rough breathing from Laurine sounded. Xavier's words offended him and seemed to say that the woman had no guilt.

Xavier doesn't know that Laurine is tormented by things that happened in the past. Because Laurine isn't as bad as Xavier thought.

"But I have to go home and work. I haven't been in the office for 2 days. My work must have been very piled up and must be completed immediately. So, let me go!" laurine said a little sniffy with a bad mood.

"Saturday you don't go to the office. Usually you'll see your twin sister. Then in exchange, you're going into the office on Sundays when your employees are on vacation"

Laurine grinned as she kept her body away from Xavier's body. "You know what?"

Then Xavier nodded with his eyes still closed. "Even I know all the details of your daily activities. Right at 7 am you wake up from your sleep, next at 8 am eating breakfast, usually you go to the office at half 9 am and will leave early if something is important or leave late if nothing is too important , then your lunch is at 1pm, about 7pm and then you go home, you clean up and eat from 8pm to 9pm, last time you slept was at 10 p.m. Oh yes, for three times a week, you will also take the time to visit Lucien in the hospital. Two days in between when you want to return home from the office, then one more day on the weekend and you did deliberately not work on that day to be able to visit Lucien with a longer time" he said at length, but so smoothly and lightly.

Laurine was flabbergasted in disbelief. "Are you following me?!" his snatch doesn't like.

"No. More precisely I pay people to follow you and report your daily life to me. One waiter at home, two employees at the office, one nurse at the hospital, and two when you're outside"

"You're outrageous! It's a breach of the privacy of his name!"

"I don't care about the breach or anything. Because the most important thing to me is your safety" Xavier said and pulled Laurine back into his arms to be held tight.

Then Laurine was stunned. Xavier's words warmed his heart. I think back to the series of events yesterday.

"Xavier.." call Laurine slowly.

"Hm?" Xavier muttered in response and was still comfortable at his sleep that remained blindfolded.

"About your last words yesterday..What does that mean?" laurine's great-grandson was full of doubt.

Not long after that Xavier opened his eyes and looked at Laurine. "About what I said if there's not going to be a last meeting for us?"

Then Laurine nodded. Waiting for Xavier's answer, who seemed to be silent, to think.

"I just thought if staying away from you for the last 7 years only hurt me. I used to think that not seeing you again would make me forget you, but it turned out to be wrong. My wounds will remain and my soul will suffer more and more. I don't want to be away from you. Although maybe our meeting is only in the content of the confrontation is also okay. As long as I can see you without feeling long again"

Seeing the change in Laurine's expression that looked glum made Xavier grin. "Why? Don't you want to? Do you want me to stay away from you again like the last few years? Did my departure make you happy?"

Laurine shook her head quickly. "Shouldn't I ask that question? Do you want to see me again? Even though I hurt you? Didn't you just say 3 days ago that you hate me so much?"

"I just said I hate you and not stop loving you. Because no matter how much I hate, my love will be much greater. Since our first meeting after all this time three days ago, I have been very happy. It's a big lie if I haven't missed you for a second in the last 7 years. You are the most important person in my life besides my father. You're my friend, my lover and the mother of my son. You are very precious to me. Miss you. Very" said Xavier then for the umpteenth time to tighten his embrace on Laurine with affection.

"I miss you too" said Laurine, closing her eyes, feeling the comfort Xavier was giving her.

08:12 AM. The Black Clan Mansion.

"What?!" pekik Hans suddenly stored a glass containing coffee that he was drinking on the table with rough to cause a distinctive sound of glass objects touching each other.

The middle-aged man sitting next to him and accompanying him to relax drinking coffee in the morning turned to him and nodded.

Then Noah laughed. "Somewhat happened there. However, Marcus told me while crying as he pleased. She said she was moved by Xavier and Laurine's love story. Ah, that brat could be touched as well apparently. I think the relationship between a man and a woman to him is just a bed"

Hans knitted his brows. "The laurine? What do you mean Xavier saved Laurine from the bomb?"

Noah stopped his laughter and nodded slowly. Her expression of cherry was lost because she knew that this was not liked by Hans.

"Laurine's influence has had a huge impact on Xavier's life. Whether in the past or the present, Laurine has always put Xavier in danger. You want me to eliminate him for Xavier's sake?"

Hans shook his head as he looked far away at the back garden out there. "Evacating it has been thought of for a long time in my brain. But, it seems like it will only result in getting worse. Xavier would probably hate me so much"

"You're right too. Seeing how much Xavier loved Laurine, Xavier would be angry at anyone who hurt the woman he loved"

"Therefore I can do nothing more and let those who may soon be back together. Both Laurine and Xavier are old enough to solve the problems that are going on between them" Hans said, sipping his coffee again.

"You sure?" said Noah wanted to really make sure and Hans just nodded indifferently.

"Well, you think so"

Then Noah sipped coffee with a glance at Hans for a moment.

From the outside Hans may look indifferent, but actually Noah knows if his best friend must be worried about the risks that will arise if Xavier and Laurine are indeed back together.

09:23 AM. Penthouses.

Xavier's gaze turned toward Laurine who had just stepped out of the bathroom wearing a white bathrobe and slightly wet hair.

"Hows it? Does anything of that fit you?" xavier said that was a question while pointing to some of the clothes that had been delivered by one of his subordinates on his orders to Laurine.

Then Laurine nodded awkwardly while tightening the bathrobe that covered her body to the knee.

"I've prepared the necessities you might need" Xavier points out on some women's supplies ranging from skin care products, makeup and clothing.

"I didn't really understand the need for women's makeup, so I bought all that and you just chose"

Laurine nodded and her choice fell on body lotion, powder, pink lipstick, and perfume with each taking one. Not to forget the clothes too. From a selection of clothes with a variety of colors, Laurine chose a short dress on the knee with long sleeves in black. Then she stepped her foot back into the bathroom.

"Laurine" called Xavier to stop Laurine from walking right in front of the door.

"Yes?" laurine turned her body to face Xavier.

"I've been watching you for a long time and you've been wearing black for the last few years. Why is it always black? Don't you also think you look bad for always wearing that dark color?"

"Before answering, I want to know your answer first. How're you? You're always wearing black, too, and why?" timpal Laurine's.

Xavier shrugged his shoulders indifferently. "Because I just love this color. There's no way I'm wearing pink, right? Black also reflects my personality. But, didn't you used to wear brightly colored clothes, especially white?"

Laurine sighed softly and shook her head. "I don't like the color white. Because I think it'll cause bad luck. Every time someone else wears a white shirt, they end up dead. Like my late son who was given a white cloth to cover his small body shortly after he was forcibly removed from my stomach, and also the late Helena who died while wearing a white wedding dress. Even my twin sister wore a white patient shirt during her comatose period"

Xavier was well aware that his question had ended up provoking Laurine's grief. From the voice of the woman who sounded vibrating was already implied clearly.

"And that's why I prefer to wear black. Because black symbolizes the atmosphere of grief that I have been feeling"

Shortly after ending her words, Laurine opened the bathroom door knob and entered it while carrying Xavier's women's supplies in her hands.

As long as Laurine was preparing inside to put on makeup and get dressed, Xavier was still stunned in place. Her brain was thinking about what Laurine said.

A few minutes later, the sound of the bathroom door opening made Xavier gasp. Featuring Laurine who came out with already wearing full clothes and a neat and fragrant look.

"I know what you're thinking. But I want to hear it directly from you. So, say it" said Laurine as if she could guess Xavier's way of thinking

Boldly Laurine looked directly into Xavier's eyes which seemed to be starting to sharpen.

"White does not bring bad luck. Wearing black clothes as a symbol of grieving will also not be able to erase your sins. Because the one who is completely innocent here is you" said Xavier coldly.

There was a great deal of emphasis in the last word that Xavier spoke. Then Laurine nodded confirming with a cheering look.

"I knew. Without you telling me, I've been conscious for a long time. Blaming the white color is just an excuse for my impingement so as not to feel too guilty. Always wearing black clothes also actually makes me look like I'm joking, right? I myself aborted my own son, shot dead an innocent woman, and lastly was to crash into my biological brother who was so dear to me that he fell into a coma for 5 years. Youre right. All's fault. It's always my fault"

Xavier rubbed his face in a huff. "For God's sake! It'll be easy to understand if what you're doing is bad people. But why innocent people like them?"

Then Laurine just went silent not responding.

"You really confused me, Laurine!" xavier growled with sounds starting to rise.

No more replies from Lauren. The woman shut her mouth tightly reluctantly resumed the conversation.

"alright. I will not ask or offend what happened in the past because in fact it will not change anything. However, I could not grant the latter's request. No matter how hard I tried to forget you, my heart was always reluctant to compromise. Because the truth is I live for you" Xavier said.

...TO BE CONTINUED...

...by portraying the characters of laurine and xavier who always wear black clothes, I indirectly imply the living and psychological conditions of those who seem 'dark'. I hope you understand what I've explained in this story...
