Mysterious Sounds

Hao Lim, Anjani and Gentayu continued to walk down the cobbled road until the day was past noon. Along the way, they did not meet anyone else after the group from the Rainbow Mountain they met this morning.

But their steps came to a halt when they found the road they were walking on ended at the edge of a deep ravine. They could not see the other side of the abyss at all because of the dense fog, even though the sun was bright. The depth of the abyss can not also be known in the middle of darkness due to the dense fog that covers it.

“Is something wrong? Did we miss something?” Anjani was the first to react.

However, they are walking normally. There was nothing special about this trip, before meeting the abyss.

Gentayu took a squatting position. Checking the ground below. There were no tracks of chariot wheels or footprints of horses or humans. The trail of the group of Mount Pelangi is not there, but the land there is a little muddy although rocky.

“It seems, we missed something.” Gentayu draws his conclusions. According to him, they have been at loggerheads with the group of Mount Pelangi.

“So, do we have to turn around?” hao Lim asked his two travel companions.

“Do you think?” Anjani passed by without looking at Hao Lim and Gentayu, walking towards the direction they came from earlier.

Finally, Gentayu and Hao Lim had no other choice but to follow Anjani. Turn back towards the direction they came before. But, not yet ten steps they walked, from the depths of the abyss came the sound of faint echoes.

“There is something at the bottom of the gorge.” Anjani gave a gesture with her index finger in front of her mouth.

Anjani was the first to realize the sound, although at first glance it was no different from the sound of the wind that hit the cliff, but his magic ears were able to clearly capture the sound. Obviously it was not the sound of the wind like Hao Lim and Gentayu thought.

The three immediately returned to the brink, at the end of the path they had traveled. The three of them tried to look into the depths of the abyss. But there was only a shadowless darkness and a fog that never unfolded.

“You're right Anjani. I also heard it vaguely. but I'm not sure what it sounds..” Gentayu tilted his head to be able to hear more focus. Not better, but at least he tried to focus his hearing more.

Hao Lim who could not hear anything became a little annoyed. But he believed his two comrades could not be wrong.

“Let's just check!” Gentayu.

“Are you crazy?!” hao Lim and Anjani protest.

How Gentayu had the thought to examine the source of such obscure sounds. In fact they have not concluded, whether it is the sound of animals, humans or others. What happens if it turns out that the sound down there is the sound of a wild animal or something else that is life-threatening.

For the size of a human being who can't win against a rabbit, isn't that ridiculous?

“Then, you guys just wait here and let me check it out.” Gentayu immediately jumped into the abyss without waiting for the approval or opinion of the two women.

In fact, Anjani did not have time to prevent it when the young man's body had vanished in the darkness of the abyss.

After a long time passed, slowly the fog that enveloped the entire cliff seemed to get thinner as the bottom of the abyss was seen. Gentayu finally landed smoothly at the bottom of the ravine which turned out to be unlike his initial expectations.

The bottom of the ravine is not as scary as it looks from the top of the cliff there. Plunged before him, an enormous green valley. Beautiful colorful flowers decorate the entire valley. In fact, small birds and butterflies fly freely.

Not only that, Gentayu's eyes are also spoiled by the presence of four-legged animals such as deer, antelope, mountain goats, and also seen by many other four-legged animals that he had never seen before. It felt , it was the most magnificent natural flower garden he had ever encountered.

‘Ah, I almost forgot my destination here.’ Gentayu who was busy enjoying the treat of heavenly beauty before him immediately remembered his purpose in this place. Find the source of strange sounds.

But, aren't there too many wild animal sounds here? Couldn't the sound he heard come from those animals? After all, right now where he was, that voice was no longer heard?

Now, Gentayu was busy with his own thoughts, but he also did not deny his belief that the voice he heard was not from one of the valley animals he saw today.

Gentayu immediately went around to find the answer to his curiosity. Due to his focus, the young man did not even realize that the place was not touched by the sunlight at all. When he went around, a voice that made him curious again sounded. This time it was clearer.

‘That, roar sound? Or howls? Or.. scream?’ Gentayu had to sharpen his ears once more to find the direction the sound with the unclear shape was coming from. After being convinced that the voice was sourced from his left, the young man rushed to come to him.

Initially, Gentayu only walked a little quickly after the voice was heard again. However, feeling that the sound is now increasingly clear, Gentayu chose to run using the science of lightening his body.

In fact, it took him a short time to finally stop at a cave mouth. He did not expect, that the valley he explored was so vast. Currently, his inner power was only less than thirty percent of his original prime condition.

‘Ah, this is not good!’ Gentayu shook his head when he saw it from inside the cave, flames periodically gushing out from the darkness of the cave. Every time the fire was seen, a strange sound was heard blaring across the valley. What makes him think his condition is not good is that his internal energy is now left not much more.

‘I have to go in.’ murmured. For some reason, the impulse was so strong that it emerged from within him even though the conditions were not very favorable if there was a threatening danger behind the fire that continuously gushed out the cave.
