The light rain that had fallen from last night had not stopped. The strong wind forced the little girl who was going down the stairs to pull the collar of her jacket to touch her chin.
Stopping in the second floor corridor, his ping-pong ball round eyes looked at the sky which lately was more often gray. While closing her eyes and head slightly, the girl sighed deeply and then exhaled slowly. A faint smile adorned his lips.
Not felt, four more months have passed. The First Wulan Chess Exam is over. Now, this complex is very quiet because the school is on vacation.
"Oh, Dith! Don't stand there, wet with rain!"
Yudith's shoulder turned, and found Sister Vero coming down the stairs. Already fully dressed in a nun's uniform, when Yudith came down, his friend was still sleeping. The usual morning service is held at six.
"You go to the chapel." Sister Vero answered Yudith's question, which was a frowning forehead, and then yawned. "Suster Tilde called earlier," he added later. His face was clearly still sleepy.
Sister Vero had never been absent from worship this morning before. Maybe exhausted because yesterday he helped inventory the goods in the foundation warehouse until late at night.
"Not an umbrella?"
"There's a broom room on the first floor. I'm headfirst. Don't forget later, yeah."
Yudith stared in horror as Sister Vero swung her feet fast on the floor of the corridor wet with splashing rain.
'Don't forget later, yes' it was a message to remind Yudith that today she will be introduced to Sister Vero's father who will come to visit from Blitar.
Yudith soon moved as the strong wind again blew. The sparks of rain that had stopped on his face felt as cold as ice water.
Slender. This four-story dormitory corridor felt very quiet and long without people passing by. Still on holiday after the exam.
Students spend a lot of time just watching TV in a special room provided, or just sleeping. The atmosphere was very supportive for them to laze around.
They only have a schedule for pickets at four in the afternoon, so while waiting for the time, they are free to do anything, as long as not neko-neko.
However, relaxing like his friends is not in the dictionary of Yudith's life. With Sister Vero, there's always something she does.
Like this morning, for example. While many of the student guesthouse residents were still at home huddled under the covers even though time had shown at eight, the tiny girl had already climbed the steps from the fourth floor to the first floor steadily.
The Headmaster Sister asked Yudith to clean and organize her room in the school office. Though there was already a picket officer who always cleaned the entire room, but Sister Headmaster still asked for Yudith's help. So, yes, it is not surprising that many accuse the girl of being a bully.
"Who are you looking for, Dith?" The question immediately greeted him as soon as Yudith arrived at the office. She's Lina, the upperclassman in charge of cleaning the school office.
"Suster Davince told me to tidy up the room, Ma'am."
His usual gaze turned cynical upon hearing Yudith's reply. The upperclassman who had tried to suppress his dislike and tried to be friendly, could finally only smile wryly.
Hearts upset. Since there was Yudith, additional tasks that could bring bonuses were now given to the girl. Without saying another word, he immediately stepped aside from before Yudith to continue the unfinished task.
They work in silence. While Yudith focused on what was being done, Lina often glanced cynically at him.
A few moments later, the face that had looked very jutek was suddenly as crisp. I don't know what came to his mind so that the eyes also sparkled. As he walked over to Yudith who was cleaning and arranging the items on the table, his lips smiled slantingly.
"Yudith, you got a phone at your house?"
"Nothing, Ma'am." Yudith only glimpsed at Lina leaning her arms against the door frame.
"But I've seen you in the wartel. Whose phone?"
Wartel is one of the paid facilities provided by the foundation to make it easier for students to contact their families.
"Call my mother, Ma'am."
Yudith did not stop the activity. The conversation was not important to him at all. She wanted to get the job done soon because today Sister Vero will introduce her to the father who will come to visit.
Finally Yudith stopped the activity and turned her head. "Pake call Paklek Jaya, Ma'am. My neighbor."
Getting a good response, Lina's eyes flashed cunningly. "If you want to call, use it."
Yudith's view automatically followed Lina's line of sight on the phone on the Headmaster's desk.
Only a fool would follow Lina's advice. Using office facilities that are special, is the same as cheating. Steal. After all, how can it be used if the number keys are locked?
"The key is in the drawer. Take aja. One minute or two won't be expensive."
It's like people can read minds. The way he spoke that sounded very light actually made Yudith sliced.
"No, no, Ma'am."
Yudith was not at all prejudiced. Refusing purely for not cheating.
A minute or two will not be expensive, but the consequences can be fatal. Yudith knew every time he paid the bill to the phone company, there would be a list of calls printed, he was once asked to put the papers in a cardboard box.
Dare to use the office phone secretly, is the same as looking for problems.
"Please don't want to, yeah, it's." The plan failed, Lina left with a carefree heart.
Help him say? Yudith felt sorry to imagine the consequences of something that was called help.
He resumed his work very skillfully. An hour later the room that had been quite cluttered, was clean and all the items were neatly arranged in place.
Sister Davince appeared when Yudith was about to leave the office. They're passing by the door.
The Headmaster Sister gave Yudith a white envelope. Because it was his right, Yudith accepted without hesitation.
"So Mr. Heru called, said Brother Lius will be here to send a deposit."
Mr. Heru was the one who brought Yudith to this foundation, while Brother Lius was a friend of Mr. Haru. They had met once when Brother Lius served as the coach of MOS recollection first.
Instead of asking to ascertain why Mr. Heru did not come alone, Yudith just said thank you. He thought, after all, he would know for himself. The girl also said goodbye without realizing Lina's sharp gaze which was eyeing from between the books.
"Have you called your mother, Dith?" Sister Davince's question paused Yudith's move.
"Here I go to the wartel, Sister."
"Call from the office only. Here."
Yudith. He never asked others to care for him, nor did he ever show the attitude that he wanted to be cared for, nor did he tell stories about his poor life to draw sympathy.
However, the attention and kindness of Sister Davince and several other foundation higher-ups came without expectation, making the girl grateful and feeling unwell.
The mockery of friends who did not like it was back. Ngempe.
No. gabe. Yudith did not care about the talk of people who did not know who he really was. However, being treated as special as this Yudith's heart could not freely accept. Rejecting it is also very unethical.
Yudith sighed softly and walked over to Sister Davince and held out the envelope she was holding. Embarrassed he said, "I'm returning it in exchange for the phone, Sister."
The fat nun laughed crisply. "You're this. Yes, it's been there to the wartel," he said later.
Yudith's lips twitched very thinly. After saying goodbye immediately stepped hastily towards the student guesthouse. At first he looked up at the sky. Thankfully, the rain had stopped and the sky looked a little clear. The dozens of steps he had to cross to get to the fourth floor, it felt like only an instant.
