I'm Just a Substitute Doll
A Dream That Feels Real

Alone, just lonely friends and the night breeze. Yelena rests her head on the porch of the house. He sat down bending his knees while looking at the empty and deserted courtyard of the house.

Empty, deserted. Like heart.

The starry sky that seemed tired of hearing the grunts of his heart. They disappear. There are no stars, no moon. There is no Sean.

The wind seemed to laugh at his fate. The lightning that suddenly grabbed was also as if supporting the action of the wind that mocked Yelena.

The rain starts to fall. Not to entertain, but to show off. It shows that the rain is not alone, unlike him.

Jelena got up from her seat. The room was his last destination. He left the balcony door open. Letting the cold wind in and assaulting his head. To freeze his head and not think of anything.

The ceiling of the room again. It's just that thing that hasn't changed. Not moving or making a sound and making fun of him.

Yelena closed her eyes, perhaps sleeping was the best way to set aside the thoughts that kept bothering her.

Yet..

She's mistaken. Not only in the real world, in the unreal world in his sleep, something can still bother him. In dreams.

Darkened. Like an endless room. He stood alone in there. He's scared, he's afraid of the dark.

He shouted, but there was no word at all. He kept screaming and running. But the more he ran instead of finding the light, he fell into the hole.

The sound of crying appeared. Yelena looked around, then covered her ears.

"Sister don't go.."

"Do you have to go now, son?"

"So I will visit you often.."

"Yes Ma'am, Yelena said goodbye.."

The sounds filled the hole where he fell. It is as noisy and buzzing as it is in a movie theater. Yelena continued to cover her ears and shook her head to get rid of the voices.

"Go!" his yell.

Brak~

His body felt like it had been hit by something hard. He was overwhelmed with closed eyes. But even a little pain he did not feel.

He opened his eyes. Now he wakes up under a flamboyant tree. He was more confused, just a moment ago in a dark hole. He touched her body which he felt had been hit by something. There are no wounds.

"Sister don't go away yeah.."

That voice again. But this time it was different. There's somebody. There are a lot of kids crying over there. Also a young girl whose face is not very clear. Yelena got up and set her foot toward the hordes of people there.

"Excuse me.."

But no one ignored him.

He was confused as to why his body could be penetrated. Yelena turned to look at the girl who had just hit her. He was curious, then followed her. He kept following the girl who went with the small suitcase and her duffel bag.

"This road seems to look familiar" he murmured.

The girl he followed sat at the stop and gulped down her drink. Yelena approached him and crouched down before him. Even so close his face was still not clearly visible, as vague.

The girl got up and stood beside the crossing light. Jelena followed him again who had crossed and was halfway.

Brak~

"Ahh~"

Yelena's body was covered. Just before his eyes he saw the girl hit. He was very shocked, his body was shaking violently. The girl he had been following was now lying limp in the middle of the road with fresh blood filling his body.

Yelena tried to get closer and see the state of the girl. But his steps stopped.

"Sean?"

"The man who got out of the car hit the girl.."

"He's.."

"No!!"

Yelena woke up with a stinging breath. Sweat filled his body and face. It's morning. Soon she gets out of her sleep and out of her room, hoping Sean has gone home.

"Sean!?"

He hugged Sean who was about to go down the stairs.

"You're okay, right?" he said behind Sean's back.

Yelena took off her embrace, then smothered Sean in the face. He checked if there were any injuries to his head or body. Sean caught Yelena's hand.

"You why? I'm fine." said Sean.

"I dreamt you hit someone." replied Yelena.

Sean was stunned to hear that. He turned his face away and smiled wryly.

'It's not a dream, it's real. And the one I hit was you, Yelena.' Sean's inner self.

"It was just a dream, everything was fine." said Sean as he kissed Yelena.

"But it feels very real." he murmured.

Yelena returned to her room in a daze. He even forgot that he had to cook for Sean. The dream disturbed his mind. He still wondered who the girl was. What did that dream mean, too.
