Flowers came out from inside the shop with a tense face. The streets seem a lot of people in groups. They crowded in front of a large plank that seemed to have just been installed near a small alley across the street.
All acts of crime are a threat to the government and will be punished severely.
Flowers read the big writing on the board. His chest was pounding erratically. His conversation with Bu Galuh a moment ago was still ringing in his mind.
The perpetrator of the robbery was not from the group that worked with Gerwa Mui, including the elite group of fighters led by her father. And this is seriously detrimental to their current position. The Dutch East Indies government became increasingly strict overseeing the movements of the indigenous people.
A car stopped in front of the flowers. The owner of the vehicle came down and approached the girl.
"I want to talk." Jacob grabs Flower's arm and asks her to get in the car.
"Why are you still here?" ask the flower of astonishment. He thought, after he left Jacob to meet Miss Galuh, the young man was gone.
Jacob did not answer the Flower question. He kept driving his car to the outskirts of town. Towards the river where they used to reveal each other's hearts.
"Why are you, Jacob? Why do you look angry?"
"What are you doing, Bunga?" jacob asked as he stared intently at the girl.
"Do what does it mean?" The flower frowned.
"Why are you playing secret games with me, Bunga?"
"Consecrated? What secret? I don't know what you're talking about." The flower casts a sideways look.
Jacob clucking. "Whatever you're doing in that drugstore. I can already guess."
Chest Flower rustling. He cursed in the heart. Earlier, in a hurry and in a frenzy, he did not think Jacob would follow him.
"There's nothing. The one who owns the drugstore is my father's brother."
"Lied!" jolt Jacob. "You're hiding something from me, Bunga."
Flowers shudder. It seems he can't lie to Jacob. But, he also could not tell the truth.
"Flower!" exclaim Jacob. "Tell me the truth. Don't you believe me?" He shook both shoulders of the flower.
"Whatever you think, forget it, Jacob," said Bunga, brushing Jacob's arms.
Jacob stared intently at the pair of black sliced Flower eyes. "You're with the rebel group?"
The perfectly rounded Flower Eyes. His heart is pounding. "You don't just talk!" sergeant staggered.
"I'm not stupid. Your strange attitude, your locket, and all the changes that have happened to you lately" Jacob said. "I feel we're very far now, Flower." He looked at his friend with his eyes.
The flower did not dare to challenge Jacob's gaze. It feels like he has been caught red-handed and no longer knows how to tickle from Jacob's accusations.
"Jawab, Flower."
"It's none of your business!"
"You don't think I'm important anymore?"
"You think for yourself."
Jacob grabbed both of Flower's shoulders and gripped them. "Can't you see that I really care about you! You're one of the people I care about the most in this world, Bunga."
"Our friendship will be of no use anymore, Jacob. We'll take a different path."
"So right, you're joining a rebel group?"
Flowers turned her face away. "Fine, from now on we keep our distance, Jacob."
"What did you say? Whatchu mean?" Jacob rounded his pair of eyes.
"We're different, Jacob. Our friendship was good only when we were little. Now we're all grown up and we understand each other's ways."
"The blood of the invaders runs through your body, Jacob."
"It turns out that you just thought of me all along?" Jacob clenched his hand furiously. "You know, I can think the same of you. You're just like the other natives, who don't see the Dutch individually" he continued.
Flowers stood up, then stared intently at Jacob. "I don't care what you think I'm like now, Jacob."
Jacob shook his head. "You have changed, Flower."
"The circumstances that made me change. I am not a person who can only be silent to see my people oppressed by the invaders. I'm sick of your treatment!" firmly Flower.
Jacob stood up too. Then grab both shoulders of the flower. His pair of blue eyes stared intently at the girl. "Did I treat you arbitrarily, Bunga."
The flower released Jacob's hand grip on his shoulder. "It's not just about you!" his jolt.
"It's about you and me!" jacob doesn't want to lose.
Flowers shudder. "No, Jacob. It's about my people and your people."
"Stop saying that, Bunga!" snapped Jacob. He lost patience with the girl in front of him.
The flowers hissed while turning their faces towards the rocks in the middle of the river. However, moments later he was startled by Jacob who suddenly grabbed his chin and forced him to look at the young man.
"Ik houd van je (I love you), Flowers."
"What?"
"I love you!" jacob exclaimed as he cupped the two cheeks of the Flower and pulled the girl's head towards him. Her lips quickly grabbed the lips of the Flower.
Plaques
The flower's hand landed on Jacob's cheek. Leave a red mark there. "You're insolent, Jacob!" snapped it. He who is still not so able to digest Jacob's treatment of him.
"You heard me, Bunga. I love you!"
Flowers shudder. "You're crazy, Jacob. You're crazy!" the thrill while making a movement to wipe the lips with the back of the hand. Flowers still couldn't believe Jacob had kissed her. He stepped back with his eyes staring at Jacob sharply. His breathing was up and down irregularly.
"Morea ...."
"Don't come any closer!" The flower raised one hand. "You've gone too far! I hate you!"
"Flower, please ...."
The flower no longer cared what Jacob said. He ran away from his best friend. Jacob chased. The young man left his car parked on the side of the road just like that.
"Flower, wait!" call Jacob. He followed the Flower which took a different path than usual. He passed a small bridge of bamboo. Then go into the coffee plantation, then arrive at the path left right overgrown with wild trees.
"Don't follow me!" jolt Flowers when Jacob had managed to align his steps with her.
Jacob grabbed the girl's arm and forced her to stop. Breathing gasps. "I'm telling the truth. I love you, Bunga."
Flowers smile cynically. "So you've been harboring those feelings for me all this time? And you're just pretending to be my best friend, are you?"
"I can't prevent the feelings that come just like that, Bunga. Can you resist, when you fall in love with someone?"
Flower whining. "I can. If I fall in love with the enemy. I'll be happy to throw that feeling away!"
"But I can't. And you're not my enemy, Bunga." Jacob grabbed the Flower's head, about to take it into a hug.
"Don't touch me!" Flowers brushed off Jacob's hand, but, the young man caught his wrist and still pulled the girl's body into his arms.
"Hey! Kumpeni! Let go of our women!"
