Jacob noticed the necklace that was coiled around the neck of the Flower. Small silver chain necklace. That girl looks prettier.
"Your new necklace?" ask Jacob. Both of them were sitting on the edge of the ring which still looked lonely. Not many visitors have come to the night market that dusk.
Flowers are fun to enjoy a legit layer cake that was bought by Jacob a while ago. "Callong? Yes, new." The girl answered Jacob's question.
"Who bought it?" asked Jacob curiously. He suspected the necklace was a gift from someone who might be close to the flowers. "Je vriend (Your girlfriend)?"
Flowers round his eyes. Of course he could not tell where he got the necklace from. Although Jacob is his best friend, he is still Dutch. From now on, Bunga had to be careful in speaking in front of the young man.
"Really?" jacob urged.
"No. It's from someone. But, not a lover."
"Someone who likes you?"
"Maybe."
Jacob was weaving his lips. "What is he really?" tanyanya.
"Someone you don't know." Flowers back struggling with a legit layer cake in his hand while enjoying the atmosphere of the night market that began to be crowded with visitors. Both Dutch and indigenous. However, there are some games that are not allowed for the indigenous people.
"Surely a very nice and pleasant person, huh? Is it more fun than me?"
Flowers snigger. "It's not someone you think, Jacob."
"Oh, huh?" Jacob looked relieved.
"Yes." Yeah." The flowers are short. "I don't have a lover. And don't want to."
Jacob frowned. "Why?" tanyakanya.
The flower smiled thinly and looked a little cynical. "There are obligations that must be fulfilled first."
"What obligation? School?"
The girl looked at Jacob beside her. "More than that." Look at his sharp eyes.
Instantly, Jacob felt that something had changed from the look of an eye that was usually filled with those bright twists. A flash of anger there.
"You've been a little tense lately, Bunga," Jacob said.
"It should be."
"What do you mean?"
The flowers smile slanted. "It's okay. It's just the female cycle."
Jacob pursed his lips while nodding. The young man looked around. Already many. It's great to be in a place filled with the excitement and laughter of people in need of entertainment.
"Does your father still want to get you into military school later?" ask Flowers.
Jacob put his shoulders. "Oh, maybe."
"What are you talking about?" Jacob looked at the Flower in astonishment.
"I'm talking the philosophy of the book I read in the library."
"Then, what does this have to do with the two of us?"
The flower breathed slowly. He cleans his palms with his skirt. "Yes, because our lives are all filled with philosophy."
"Then?"
"Yes, things won't always be the same. Now it won't be the same as later. For example, you and me. Now that we are friends, in the future we can be enemies."
Jacob giggled while shaking. "I'll never consider you an enemy, Flower. You're my friend forever."
"What if I consider you the enemy?" The eyes of the Flower glared sharply towards Jacob, making the young man's roman fur slightly bristling.
"Why would you consider me an enemy?"
The thin smiling flower. "That's it, Jacob. We'll never know what's gonna happen next."
Jacob breathed heavily. This conversation made his chest tight. He doesn't like to talk about farewell. Especially farewell to the girl beside him.
"What will happen later I'll think about it later. Why don't we just enjoy it now?" Jacob grabbed the Flower's hand and grasped it tightly. "If we're talking about farewell, you should know, I don't want to part with you."
The flower pulled his hand from Jacob's grasp. "Don't be stupid, Jacob. Of course we won't be like this forever. You will marry the girl of your people, then you will be the soldier who defends your people. I'm being ...."
"What if I marry you?" Jacob raised his thick eyebrows. "We know each other personally. I don't want to risk marrying a girl who doesn't necessarily fit me."
Flowers were dumbfounded to hear Jacob's words. But then his laughter exploded. It was as if the words that had just come out of Jacob's mouth were ridiculous jokes.
The girl hit Jacob slowly on the shoulder, still with the remains of her laughter. "You are just there" he said.
Jacob grimacing. Ah-the sparkle in the eyes of the Flower is back. He was afraid he would never see her again. But what he said a moment ago was no joke. The words came from the bottom of his heart.
"Don't offer that kind of ridiculous thing to me. Marry you?" Flowers roll both of her eyes. "Basic Jacob, that's ridiculous. I'm tickled to hear it," he chuckled.
Jacob stroked his neck. His head lowered hiding a pink tinge on his cheek.
"You're kidding me, aren't you, Jacob?" The flower tilted its head looking towards Jacob. He wanted to make sure that the speech of the young man was only moon. He really hoped that speech meant nothing.
Jacob turned his head, staring at the Flower for a while. I'm not kidding, Bunga.
"Jacob?" Flowers move palms in front of his best friend's face.
The young man gasped. "Yes, I'm kidding."
The flower breathed a sigh of relief as it placed its hand on the chest.
