Chapter 23 - The Matching Couple

The imperial capital of Alexandria.

After Peter asked about the specifications of the desired furniture, a plan was in the mind of Elizabeth and he then decided to take Peter to the capital to buy his furniture directly.

They set out on the same horse-drawn carriage as Peter was only carrying a chariot without horses. It turns out Edgar's miserly nature can launch Elizabeth's plan. New rumors will be created when people see Elizabeth carrying a man in her horse-drawn carriage.

Although he told Peter that their destination was only to the furniture store, actually Elizabeth would not stop there. He would invite Peter to enjoy tea at a teahouse where the nobles would gather after buying the man a gift.

Just by thinking about it Elizabeth was sure if the rumors would be a conversation everywhere with the title 'New Man Elizabeth'. As a result of Elizabeth's childish personality, all this will be easier.

"The architect yesterday suggested a furniture store that has the best quality in every item, what if we go straight there, Peter?" elizabeth asked after the two got off the horse-drawn carriage.

Elizabeth accidentally does not come down right in front of the store, she wants to show her togetherness with Peter along this road.

Peter seemed awkward at being the center of attention, "Ah, yes, if that's what you want, let's go there right away" the man said.

Elizabeth stopped her steps, "Why are you talking like that again? We've agreed to talk to each other casually." protested.

"But. I am a commoner talking casually to a lady in a public place like this. wouldn't that make you ashamed?" the real Peter thought more about the impact it had on Elizabeth than himself.

Elizabeth tilted her head slightly to the right, "Why did Peter think of such a useless thing? I have no interest in caring at all for the views of others towards me, for there will always be a hateful reason to hate us as hard as we try to be good. So live for yourself, Peter. Do not try to satisfy the judgment of others because it is a futile thing." he explained.

Actually, he himself never cared about the views of others against him especially when the nobles nicknamed him land pirates, he was not angry or objected at all.

But for some reason when it comes to this woman in front of him, Peter becomes unsettled just by thinking about the bad rumors that will arise because of their closeness in public places like this.

"Why shut up? You understand what I meant just now, don't you?" ask Elizabeth to make sure.

"Yes, I understand." Elizabeth looked at him sharply, "Ah, yes, I understand so please don't stare at me creepily like that" Peter said.

Elizabeth smiled, "Then let's go to the furniture store now!" he said as he wrapped his hand around Peter's arm.

Elizabeth's sudden action left Peter stunned, "Elizabeth, can we walk as usual? I think it's too... close?" said Peter.

"Don't Peter like it when we get close?" ask her innocently like a teenager in general.

Peter turned his face that was blushing because of Elizabeth's adorable innocent behavior, "Not her dislike, but..."

"That means no problem, because Peter likes it too" Elizabeth said before Peter finished his sentence.

Elizabeth's plan is arguably quite successful starting from Peter who clearly looks like her and the eyes of the people around. There were even some who were blatantly talking about the two of them up close.

"God, really a woman who has no self-esteem. It's possible that he'll go after another man after his engagement is off with the crown prince" said one of the men.

"He'd be dead if there wasn't a man next to him. It's disgusting!" one more word.

"I actually feel His Majesty lucky because finally he can escape from a woman like her. After all, she also did not deserve the title of Crown Princess, a crown princess of the blood of commoners? Wouldn't that damage the bloodline of an esteemed emperor?" another timpal again.

The venerable emperor's blood? A would-be leader who likes to party and has debts everywhere you call honorable? Ckck, it turns out that the people or leaders are equally stupid. It is fitting that this empire will not undergo significant changes.

Some laugh to agree that Elizabeth is not at all worthy of being with the Crown Prince.

"At least now he is self-conscious and chooses a partner who deserves him. Wasn't a lady of common folk blood perfectly suited to a land pirate?" said one of his which followed the laughter of some people who were also there.

Peter tightened his jaws, annoyed, at hearing Elizabeth humbled and ridiculed so blatantly.

Elizabeth who knew it immediately calmed Peter down by rubbing Peter's arm, "I'm fine. So don't mind them, just let the starving dogs bark as they please" he said.

Peter chuckled, "Why suddenly laugh?" elizabeth asked confused to see him.

"You're right, they're not humans but dogs" Peter replied.

Arriving at the furniture store, Elizabeth saw some examples of ready-made furniture. Before leaving he had remembered the list of furniture given by Dietrich so he did not have to carry the note again.

All furniture is made to order so the items in the store are just examples. Because furniture is not a basic need that will be routinely purchased to survive. The store owner explained if the more the number in the message he will give a discount.

Hearing the phrase 'price cut' made Elizabeth become excited. Finally he also paid part of the total amount and paid the rest after the finished goods.

After doing his main goal, now Elizabeth invites Dietrich to go to a boutique. Peter is unsuspecting because he only thinks Elizabeth will shop for clothes for herself. But how surprised he was when Elizabeth bought a coat of cowhide with good quality for him.

"I'd be very happy if Peter wore it when we met again" Elizabeth said, handing Peter the coat.

"It's too expensive for me" said Peter.

"Peter, are you going to keep making my hands like this? Quickly grab it before my hand hurts!" elizabeth.

Inevitably he took it out of Elizabeth's hands, "I will definitely give you something more expensive than this coat, Elizabeth" Peter said in his heart.
