CORONAS
16. HAREBRAINED

Yuva took a deep breath and then exhaled for a moment. “I don't care about the fate of dirty healthy people like them. All I care about right now is my life, and a little bit of the lives of the people who have fared the same as me.”

“No way, Yuva. We can only live by depending on normal people like them. Kaldier we can only scan people without caldier.”

“See! You're out of the direction of your own conversation,” said Yuva suddenly. I was silent with a confused look. The sentence that Yuva had just spoken could not be digested properly by my brain.

“You mean?” my question is full of wonder.

“Now who do you care about? My salvation? The safety of those normal\-people? Safety of other caldier users? Or your own safety?” Yuva asked back.

The question was dragging my lips to silence. Of course, I thought about the safety of everything. As caldier users, we should not lose people of normal health. There's nothing wrong with that.

I said that to respond to Yuva's question just now. Yuva smiled insultingly. His gaze was so cynical as if it was humbling me. The Yuva that I knew all this time seemed to be gone and changed with another figure.

“Look, you are not aware of what you have said. You're worried about the safety of non-caldier users because you're afraid you can't get Life Point out of them. It is natural because we need it to live. But your reason is hypocritical. In the end, you attach importance to your own survival. Not really thinking about anyone. You're not even honest with yourself,” Yuva said in a serious tone.

What I said was true and that's the system. People with deadly diseases need a Dier wave. Dier waves require food intake in the form of emotional satisfaction from healthy people or people who do not use caldier. In order for the Dier wave to get its intake, as a cadier wearer must offer assistance to people in normal health. If those non-painful people did not exist, even caldier users would not be able to sustain their lives. This is the principle. Then why did Yuva accuse me of hypocrisy?

“In the end we are the same, Eldan,” Yuva continued again. “And the paradigm of the non users of the caldier is also true. We are just contemptible creatures who help because we hope for a reply. Like a remora fish that voluntarily cleans the teeth and body of a shark, but actually eats the remnants of shark food attached to its teeth. I no longer deny it. And therefore, I decided to no longer rely on them.”

My head seemed to be building thick walls to dispel Yuva's statement just now. But Yuva's statement was as if an extremely powerful bulldozer machine could break through walls easily, and make my logic submit to her. And the last statement from Yuva made me wonder. “What do you mean?”

“I'll use those fools to earn a life point. If my life numbers are as many as you, I'll throw them away. I'll let those normal-health guys breed themselves. So that they do not perish completely.”

“You ... consider them cattle?” I said with great surprise. This is fucking crazy.

I'm silent again. Being stabbed so many times with words that can subdue my mind makes me not wince.

“Well, do you still want to prevent me? I think you need to strengthen your resolve again before you stop me. My words that you can't forgive are already shaking your mind, right?”

Don't try to deny it. To make a sound from the mouth alone was very heavy. My brain was stiffly showered with malicious but plausible statements from Yuva. Silence is like a strike working to rule my limbs.

“Iya, right? You always have been. Always seem to care about anyone but actually you yourself do not understand what you are doing.” Yuva put her foot back. He started moving away from me.

“Yuva! Waitaminute! It's not. I'm not like you said,” my word is strong. But Yuva did not stop walking. I put my feet fast to chase after him. “I'm not done talking to you, Yuva. Listen to me!”

He kept stepping. It gets faster and ignores me. My mind is getting messed up. My two eyeballs caught something and suddenly something came to my mind. The one-styled bag curled forcefully until Yuva's body turned and spontaneously removed the bag from her shoulder. Quickly, I slammed the bag into the ground.

Brak! A loud clashing sound rang out from inside the bag. Already expected, the contents must be a laptop that is often used to hack.

While breathing suddenly tight, I said, “ I'm sorry. If I can't stop what you're doing, then I'd better destroy the tools you're using.”

The look on Yuva's face showed her surprise. His eyes were drawn to me as if it were raining arrows. His breath sounded strong like a truly windy person. But it didn't last long. He tried to calm himself. His breathing returned to normal and his face looked calmer.

“Lowness. Your way is like a man who was never educated,” he tried to provoke.

“I'm sorry, Yuva. I don't mind what you think of me. What is clear is my determination to stop you is real,” I said slowly. This time I won't let him ever again taint my resolve with his words. Spontaneous indeed, but I am grateful to be able to directly use this way.

Yuva's face looked annoyed. I turned my face away so as not to return her gaze. Then, I quickly stepped my feet to leave this place.
