CHECKMATE
Other Stories Part I

"How much is my total shopping, mba?" ask Regini at the cashier of one of the supermarkets

"Everything is five hundred and sixty thousand, sis," answered the cashier kindly

Regina grabbed the wallet she had placed inside her sling bag. I hope he has enough money to pay for his expenses. He had been flipping back his wallet for a long time. It turns out he does not have much money, even to pay for his groceries less.

"Eem sorry mba, it turns out my money is not enough to pay everything. I cancancel some of these items," Regina later said

"Oh yeah it's okay. Want to cancel which stuff?"

Actually Regina really needs those things. Needs for himself and his son. But what power, because he is currently short of money, he must ease his needs. Kids are more important than anything. Because that's the only thing he's got.

"Wait, mba! Those things don't have to be messed up, let me pay for the rest" prevent a man from standing behind Regina. The man seemed to be waiting for the queue as well.

"Oh my goodness, I didn't even realize there were so many people waiting behind me,"

"Thank you for your kindness. But I don't want to trouble you. After all, I don't really need it much" Regina said staring at the man behind her.

"I'm sorry, for making you wait too long" he continued.

Yet the man seemed to be unconcerned by Regina's refusal. Even now he was right near the cashier. Pay for the groceries, and the whole Regina shopping.

"Oh yes, I'm really sorry for bothering you,"

"Thank you for all this good. I am deeply indebted to you, sir," Regina said

"It's okay, we have to teach our fellow humans to help each other," said the man

Regina didn't know what to say anymore, her lips were twisted and stiff. Thousands of thanks to him in his heart. Pray that goodness will always be with the man.

If the guess was not wrong, the man seemed to be around in his fifties. It was not easy anymore, visible from his skin that slowly began to wrinkle. Therefore, he also prayed that the old man should be given long life by God.

Regina left the supermarket while carrying her groceries. Stepping quickly, so that he does not miss the public transportation that will later deliver him to his residence. But without realizing it, there was someone who was watching him.

No matter the surroundings, Regina kept walking, until she found a city bus waiting for passengers. The man boarded the bus shortly after Regina boarded. Taking a position not far from where Regina was sitting.Maybe the goal is so that he does not lose track of his target.

After a while, Reginipun got off the bus. Walk again, down the narrow alley to the small rented house where he and his son lived.

When he opened the door, someone seemed to surprise him. The voice sounded familiar to his ears. He turned to look at the source of the voice.

"Def,-------"

"Hallo Regina, how are you? Did you miss me?"
