A Tale Behind the Gates of Pesantren 4

The sound of jaros(bel) hut echoed throughout the dormitory. Waking up the whole santri from the cradle of his beautiful dreams. Likewise with Nisa, awake because of hearing the screeching alarm that always sounds to mark the change of each activity.

After gathering her consciousness, Nisa started to pick up the dipper that contained the toiletries. With a towel around the neck Nisa began to go down the stairs to the bathroom located on the ground floor of the back of the dormitory building.

After cleaning the body as well as ablution Nisa rushed back to the hujroh(room). Wearing a mukena prepare to go to the musala to run the prayer services of Fajr. If it is a few minutes late, then he will get a sentence standing in front of the class facing the direction of the banin(male) dormitory.

Descending from the musala, Nisa and her friend returned to the room only to pick up the yellow book and then to their respective classes to participate in idhofah activities with the escort ustaz. About forty-five minutes the bell sounded shrill. The morning shift is over.

This time is usually filled by students with various activities each. There are those who carry out cleanliness pickets, bathing, queuing to take breakfast, and other activities.

The bell begins to echo all students must be ready with a neat uniform and scatter to the field, front of the class or other places to follow the muhadatsah a few minutes before formal learning activities begin.

"Ma hadza's? Hadza kolamun." ("What is this? It's a pen.")

"Ma hadzihi?" Hadzihi qurrosatun." ("What is this? It's a notebook.")

"Aina hujrotuki? Hujrotii amamal maydani." (Where's your room? My room is in front of the field.")

The roar of the new students was already heard loud in the field area in front of the princess dormitory. They began to be introduced to new vocabulary and sentences in Arabic or English by the brother of the manager of the language section according to his duties.

"Man ismuki?" ("What's your name?")

"Ishmi Fatimah." ("My name is Fatimah.")

"Min aina qoryatuki?" ("Where are you from?")

"Qoryatii min Tangerang." ("My hometown from Tangerang.")

Muhadatsah activities must be followed by all santri without exception. For new students of class 1 Mts or class 1 MA experiment they will be given new vocabulary and sentences from Arabic or English for basic introduction. While their old children will have conversations with their interlocutors using these two languages.

From this muhadatsah activity sometimes Nisa gets new friends from her partner talking in two foreign languages. Sometimes from a younger sibling or a upperclassman himself. Because the number of santri are thousands so that Nisa can not know him one by one except through this muhadatsah.

As he currently knows the figure of a Bandung-based class brother who he himself felt comfortable when it was late in the conversation. Because his upperclassman named Kak Lilis who came from the experimental class was also friendly and very good. And it made Nisa feel happy with the new upperclassman she knew.

All students must always follow every activity held in the cottage without exception. If someone deliberately without permission does not follow it will get a punishment that is in accordance with the violation of each section of the board.

After following muhadatsah in general or mingling with a sister or upperclassman. All students began flocking to their respective classes to attend teaching and learning activities until later the time before Zuhur prayer. Everything goes in order and discipline. With coordination between the brothers mudzabir/mudzabiroh (managers) with the asatiz in the cottage environment.

The bell again sounds a sign that the first hour will soon begin in their respective classes. Nisa and her classmates have been sitting tight waiting for the material they will receive from the teacher according to the specified schedule.

Two hours of lessons in a row had already passed. Time for the first break to arrive. The time of only fifteen minutes was used by the students. There are those who come crammed in front of the canteen hunting snacks, some sleep under the classroom table, some also take advantage of that short time to perform the prayer of the duhas in the dorm room.

So even with Nisa with some friends directly to the bathroom. Take the ablution water then return to the room to perform the two raka'at circumcision prayer. In his long prostration Nisa exalted the do'a complaining all her hopes and dreams to the Creator.

After tidying up her face and wearing her hijab back Nisa with her two friends started to go down the stairs to return to their class.

"Close to Yoyoh's room first, yuk!" take Nisa to Kokom and Rohiyah. Because Yoyoh had said to leave together to go to class.

While waiting for Yoyoh who is still wearing her hijab. Nisa and her two friends were treated to a freshly opened peanut romha biscuit. While chatting lightly and berhaha hihi ria they enjoy a snack of biscuits. It did not feel Nisa had spent a line of biscuits that had been outside Yoyoh from her closet.

While munching on biscuits suddenly Nisa screamed hysterically to the surprise of all her friends who were crowding in the room.

"Astghfirullahhaladzim says. Ana, right, today again fasting qodo, how is this already exhausted biscuits in line," shouted Nisa who was greeted with laughter Yoyoh with another friend.

The laughter from her friends has not yet subsided given Nisa's forgetful silly behavior.

"But, ana hasn't had time to drink, how is this. It's not very good to feel in the throat of the cake is stuck," said Nisa urgency.

"Udah enjoy. It was also quite a row of biscuits for the wedge of the stomach," said Yoyoh while giggling.

Nisa finally chose to continue her fast because she had completely forgotten. I don't remember at all if I had any intention. Although he had to feel uncomfortable in the throat because he had not had time to drink. Nisa just gargled clean the rest of the biscuits that still filled her mouth.

"Suppose it is unexpected sustenance, Nis, so it is not too hungry," led Yoyoh later.

"Ente, anyway, take the event to eat all food, ana right, so khilaf." Nisa's still grumbling.

"Well, ana also insists that you fast again, Nisaa .... !" deny Yoyoh still giggling laugh at the act of Nisa just now.

The bell sign of the third lesson echoed throughout the dormitory. Nisa and her friend ran away to the classroom which was located in the area of santri putra right opposite the teacher room building.

"Ente again write what, Sarah?" nisa asked when she found her classmate was writing on a piece of paper and folded up to a small size and then tucked into a uniform pocket.

"Owh, no, no, that's just a prank," replied Sarah stammered.

Together with other friends, Nisa walks into the classroom because the cottage exam will begin soon. Five minutes later a young ustaz entered with a map containing questions that will be distributed to all students.

The large room was suddenly quiet. All the examinees were looking at their respective question sheets. Until then there was a noise from the back corner.

"What's wrong?" tanya ustaz Mubarok soft and friendly.

"It's ustaz, Sarah brought a conteckan paper," replied one of the students who sat right next to Sarah.

Then Ustaz Mubarok approached Sarah's table.

"Are you cheating, Sarah? Here, give me the paper!' Ustaz Mubarok's hand was stretched out toward Sarah

With a reddened face to resist embarrassment then Sarah handed over a piece of paper that turned out to be the answer sheet she had copied.

Knowing there was one of his students who brought contekkan ustaz Mubarok a little advice to Sarah. That honesty is very important.

For example, do not lie to yourself by cheating. Because these actions include acts that are not commendable and very contrary to the honest nature that should be owned by everyone, let alone a santri who will certainly lead to good for people who uphold the value of honesty. As in a hadith is said.

The Prophet Muhammad SAW:

“Truly honest it brings goodness and goodness it brings to heaven,” (H.R. Bukhari.

In the Qur'an, it is said that it means:

"O you who believe should be those who uphold (testify or be honest about the truth) because of Allah, bear witness fairly. Never hate a people, encourage you to be unjust. Be fair, for justice is nearer to fear. And fear Allah, verily Allah is All-Knowing of what you do" (QS. Al-Maidah [5]: 8)

After hearing the reprimand from the ustaz, Sarah asked for ma'af and promised not to repeat it again.
