Whiter

Whiter
The Part 15

Shanon had a glimpse of the presence of the director he had been waiting for since. In the midst of his busy life he could even feel Jared's presence nearby. Needless to see, Shanon could feel the aura of a Jared Walter around him.

Yesterday was the most beautiful day for him despite the interruptions but he was so happy. Shanon expects a beautiful morning with Jared that finally opens up opportunities for him but what happens is unexpected. Jared did not return his messages or calls, he arrived late, was also present at the office without turning to him in the slightest. All of this is a big question mark for Shanon. Didn't everything change yesterday? They had a little fun so why would Jared change in an instant? Is it because of Olivia? Or even his son?

In her spare time, Shanon picks up her phone and calls Jared's number. That number is still off like it was last night.

Doubt enveloped his heart. Something must have happened when Jared came home. Shanon is desperate to know what chaos caused his plan to fail miserably. If Jared doesn't want to explain by phone call then he'll see her later. At lunch, too, Shanon did not mind. All for the sake of his glorious future and success. Shanon is sure to get a more detailed explanation by asking directly.

At lunch Shanon stood in front of Fira who was now showing an irritated look at him. He has no business with this woman. The barrier will certainly be removed if the time comes. Not only Fira who felt disturbed, Shanon also felt so. Fira always blocks his steps. This woman is already more like a house guard dog who is always on standby to guard her master.

"Isn't my previous sentence very clear, Shanon?" with his hands folded in front of his chest. "Mrs. Jared doesn't want to see you, doesn't want to see your face. Did you hear that? You deaf?"

"Shut up if you don't know anything" Shannon snapped.

Fira clucking. "Our director has repeatedly said not to allow insignificant people, especially receptionist Shanon, into his room. I know everything. I know better Mr.'s wishes. Jared is more than anyone. I'm his secretary. I know every detail of his schedule. Then what else do you want to argue, receptionist doesn't matter?"

The emotions within Shanon are stirring. This woman infuriated him to the point of being intolerable. During this time Shanon was silent because he appreciated it as well because he understood his position but now he was fed up. Stupid time with a good image!

Without saying much, Shanon picked up a bottle of mineral water that was still filled near Fira, opened it and splashed it right on the woman's tight face.

"Oh!!! what the fuck!" rub Fira on her wet face. Her expression was surprised not to think that Shanon would recklessly do that to her. "Are you crazy?!"

"Yes, I'm crazy" Shanon continued with a cynical smile. "Your fault has been dealing long with a madman like me."

"I'll complain!"

Shanon clucking. "Basic shithead! I have no interest in playing around with a weak woman like you but you keep luring me. I could've broken your collarbone if I hadn't thought of Mr.'s interests. Jared's." He stepped closer to Fira with narrowed eyes. "Now you know how crazy I am, so from now on don't ever dare to get in my way!"

Shanon steps into Jared's room leaving Fira confused between tidying herself up first or preventing Shanon from entering the director's room. There he finds Jared, who is busy with his file, spontaneously raises his head to find that Shanon is standing there.

"You're late today" Shanon said in a slightly soft voice.

Jared put the file in his hand then looked coldly at Shanon. "Who let you in?"

"I allowed myself to enter" Shannon said as she walked slowly to her desk.

"Go."

Shannon's steps come to a halt when she realizes her nightmare is happening. Jared was really avoiding him. "Why?"

"You have to work according to your status." That sentence clearly made Shanon's heart beat painfully.

"What's wrong with you? Any problems with your family?"

Jared's expression immediately turned hardened when Shanon mentioned the word family.

"Shut your mouth."

Shanon's body froze but his lips tried to form a cynical indentation. "So you changed because of your family?"

Jared punched the table until it made such a loud sound.

"You think who you are!" The look on his face turned frightening making Shanon grimace instantly. He did not expect to mention a little about his small family can be bad like this.

Shanon stood still with a bewildered face and a frightened heart as Jared moved out of his chair and stepped intimidatingly towards Shanon. Now they stand face to face. Jared's angry look answered everything. He changed because of his family. In one night Olivia managed to poison and control the mind of this man. Obviously Shanon understood the dilemma Jared was facing but saying something with explosive emotions could not be taken for granted.

God! His secretary had already made a deep regret towards him, it was unexpected that Jared was now serving him in the same way.

"We?" Jared clucked very unfriendly. "Don't talk nonsense. You started everything voluntarily. You came uninvited and offered to a half-drunk man and now demand a reward. You are a woman who thirsts for treasure."

Like thousands of needles being pierced simultaneously into Shanon's heart, he was shocked by Jared's statement. Her ears are hot. His chest wants to explode. His whole body was in pain. The self-esteem he had deliberately buried deep suddenly appeared and was smashed to pieces. How many thousands of times it hurts one's heart when the humiliation comes from one's loved ones!

He can't even move. His mouth could not take out a word. Shanon just stared incensefully at Jared in front of him.

"Why? You don't take it?" jared continued without mercy. "You should have been conscious from the beginning. Remember your status and the status of the person you are courting. If you want to maintain your self-esteem then appeal to men out there who have never been married at all. Hans has enough to spend."

The more Jared insulted him, the more Shannon wanted to destroy everything. He swore to avenge this humiliation. While strengthening his broken heart, he began to speak amidst the gloom and bitterness he felt.

"You're hoping I'll slap you in a moment like this?" Shanon raised both of his eyebrows with a faint smile at the end of his lips. "Slap, go and cry. You misjudged me, Jared. I know what you're doing."

The man just kept silent with his cold expression. "I've repeatedly received even more hurtful remarks than this. I've been through hell, Jared Walter. I've been through that torment" explained Shanon as calmly as possible. "Honestly, your words surprised me. Your reaction is beyond my expectations. Youre right. I'm a seductive bitch of a married man to get a fortune. Congratulations on knowing the truth. Now I'm going to go, tease Hans and finish off his treasure. Thanks for your advice, Jared."

Shanon gave a slanted smile as the antagonist before turning around and stepping towards the exit.

Shanon turned around once more and found Jared still standing unaffected in the middle of the room.

"Maybe I'm shameless, but let me keep working here. I need this company as a bridge to get close to Hans. In return I'll work professionally." After his last sentence, Shanon stepped out of the room. He didn't look anywhere. The goal is only one. Get out of this gripping area.

In the elevator, Shannon covered her mouth while crying like a coward. He can accept that if others insult him because they do not know him, he does not love them, but Jared. Shannon has loved that man for a very long time. Now all he gets is not a beautiful reunion but an infinitely painful humiliation. Shanon tried hard but tears flooded his cheeks. He could not think of his plan anymore. The only thing that was on his mind was the toilet because he needed to let out all the pain he was enduring.

After a long time Shanon thought that he was tough enough. It turns out one spicy sentence from the man to tear down the entire fortress he built.

Right now he is so angry that the only thing he has in mind is to make Jared's words come true. He'll get to Hans and stay away from Jared.

Two days have passed since the quarrel and the separation between him and Jared. In the office, he looks ordinary. Cheerful, professional happy too. But at home he became himself. Loner, hopeless and heartbroken. Shannon has a good relationship with Hans. It was not difficult for him to be close together because he was comfortable with Hans. Comfortable in the context of friendship. He's a good man to the point that Shanon doesn't have the heart to hurt him one bit. He felt himself too dirty for a man as good and perfect as Hans.

For two days he did not seek and did not want to know about Jared in the least. Shanon is determined to stay away from Jared for his own peace. Several things were done to remove the man from his sight. First, it came at 7:50 a.m. Second, look the other way as he passes by. Third, stay away from all matters related to the director. Fourth, join with office friends so that his attention is diverted from Jared. With such a path, he was able to avoid.

"We'll go home together later?" hans asked right in front of the reception desk.

Shanon felt unsure to continue to use Hans to accompany him in this bad period. But an offer is still an offer. He needs to give Hans a chance.

"You're a very nice guy" Shanon smiled and nodded. "How about we have dinner together?"

Hans's face showed a spirit he had never seen. It turns out that something as small as this can have a big impact on someone.

"Agreed."

"Are you sure you're not busy?"

"There is always free time for beautiful women" Hans joked, making them both laugh.

In the midst of their casual conversation, someone who was passing by saw their familiarity. Shanon laughs sincerely at whatever Hans reveals to him. He, Jared, has no interest in meddling. He just accidentally saw.

Inside the car the shadow of Shanon and Hans' laughter bothered him. Jared shakes. During these two days, Shanon's words always haunt him. I don't know why the woman's confession didn't feel right. Jared knows he hurt Shanon to protect himself. He didn't mean to do that, just there was no way out. The incident that night was a fatal mistake.

This is the best way.

Let the woman be happy on her own chosen path, without Jared realizing that her hands were clenched so tightly.
