Chapters 29. Galih Ananda (Part 1) - The Rapier Sword

Galih is excited about the special training that Julia and Darma have put in place to improve the abilities of Project Wanara team members. From the very beginning he had understood the prepared training pattern. The first day is an exercise designed to improve the weakest abilities of the team members. Galih had been in the training room of the second area. The first day of training for Galih is about to begin.

The second area is where the ejection machine throws some weapons that will be an attack target for team members. Between the first and second areas are bounded by a long line that runs horizontally from the end of the left wall to the end of the right wall. When team members cross the line, an alarm will sound and the ejection engine becomes inactive so training cannot continue before team members return to their proper place.

Training commences. A sharp dagger was thrown from the right side towards the left side. The dagger was not too fast and had a distance that was not too far away with the position of Galih standing. A very easy start. But unfortunately Galih missed the opportunity. He just kept silent watching the dagger fly past him.

Galih did not want to come with an empty glass. It turns out that in the previous day Galih had trained his ability to manipulate energy to create an attack that can be done remotely. Galih is always preparing to anticipate everything that might happen in the future. One of them is self-preparation in the face of special training this time. Although he may still have difficulties, but at least he has the ability to hone in on this training.

Not long after the ejection machine again threw a sharp dagger from the opposite direction, from the left side to the right side. The speed and distance of the dagger was still the same as the previous throw.

It was a great start for Galih.

The machine returned to do its job. Now an arrow is thrown from the right side to the left side. The cross section of the arrow is larger than the dagger. It should have been able to easily destroy the arrow. But again Galih failed at his first chance and succeeded at the second try.

“No problem, the next thing I will destroy on the first attack.” Thought Galih enthusiastically looking forward to the arrival of the next thing.

An arrow was thrown from the opposite direction. Galih pay attention to the trajectory of the arrow's motion to predict the point of attack.

Galih returned to shake his sword. This time the attack he did was extremely accurate and managed to destroy the arrow with just a single strike.

“Successful..” Galih shouted in excitement. But Galih was not complacent with that small success. He was very alert and again prepared himself for the arrival of the next object.

From then on all the objects thrown out could be destroyed very easily by him. Due to that extremely low difficulty level, Galih was a little bored. But he immediately dismissed that feeling. He did not want to be careless and lose just because of the boredom that plagued him. He again took an attacking position and tried to stay focused on the upcoming target.

Once again a sharp dagger was thrown from the opposite direction at the same speed, and again Galih failed to destroy the incoming object. Let alone to destroy, the attack that Galih did could not hit the dagger at all.

Unlike the throw at the beginning of training where the dagger and arrow come at a slowing speed that makes the trajectory of motion in the form of a curved curve, this time the catapult has a high speed and consistent and moves straight horizontally.

Daggers and sharp arrows were continuously revolted at high speed from different directions in turn. Galih is still trying to carry out several attacks and trying to at least hit the incoming target. But until lunchtime came, none of his attacks were successful.

While eating lunch, Galih tried to analyze the results of his training earlier. At the beginning of training he failed to destroy the target at the first opportunity, it happened because the target still had a fairly high speed when it was first thrown. Then slowly his speed slowed down and that was when he managed to destroy the object.

“That means I have to increase my reflexes and attack speed and pay attention to the trajectory of motion of all targets. If only I had the ability like Dirga.” Thought at that moment.

“As Dirga?” He was shocked to realize something.

“Dirga has a special ability in his eyes. He gained this ability because of his habit of reading. But it doesn't seem to be just that. What if I channel more energy to strengthen my eye ability? That's worth a try. And again why do I have to pull out a harness? Stupid.” Galih said with great enthusiasm and chuckled softly because of his stupidity. From the beginning Galih had indeed taken out his armor. He had just realized that it was useless and was just wasting his energy.

An hour passed and the rest was over. Galih again prepares himself for the arrival of objects that will be the target of his attack. He took out the Sword Repier without using any protective armor. Now he also drains energy to the eye with higher intensity. The preparations are complete and the target arrives.

An arrow shot from the left side to the right. Galih very swiftly slashed his sword to create the energy coil he used to attack.

All the objects that were next thrown now managed to be destroyed very easily by Galih. Not a single target escaped his attack. Galih successfully completed the second stage of this training very well.

Galih knows that once he has successfully overcome the challenges of speed, then there will be challenges related to number and distance. His guess is very precise. The next stage, the ejection machine not only threw one object, but two objects at once at the same time.

That doesn't make it too difficult. As long as Galih is able to follow the target's speed of motion, it will be very easy for him to destroy the target, moreover the target is coming from the same direction. Galih made two sword slashes at once and destroyed all the incoming targets.

Again a similar ejection pattern is thrown by the ejection machine from the opposite side. Galih managed to destroy all the targets that were in front of his eyes.

This time the pattern changed. The ejection machine throws a sharp dagger from the right side, followed by a ejection machine that throws an arrow from the left side, a few seconds later the ejection machine on the right side again threw a dagger followed by the throw of an arrow from the throwing machine on the left side.

This throwing pattern makes Galih feel very difficult because he has to focus on many targets at once which come from several sides with different time tempos. Galih swung a few sword slashes to destroy all targets, but unfortunately only one thing he could destroy was a sharp dagger. The other attack did not touch the target.

Galih did not bother with the failure he experienced. He again prepared himself to face the next throw.

Similar ejection patterns are re-issued. This time Galih did not directly swing his sword, but waited for each object from each side to meet at one point. When the first object from each side was at the meeting point, Galih swiftly returned to shake his sword right at that point. But unfortunately only the thing closest to him could be destroyed. Galih again swung his sword when the second object was at the rendezvous. Again only the thing closest to him can be destroyed.

Not long ago, the ejection machine again made a similar throw pattern. But Galih did not seem to budge. He just watched the things pass him by.

When the problem can be overcome and let's say there is still energy left to destroy other objects, I have to take into account the duration of time of the energy so as not to lose the momentum of the attack at the meeting point of each object. “There are two ways to solve this problem, first is to increase the power and speed of attack or create new energy manipulations to be able to reach all objects at once without having to wait for the objects to meet at one point.”

The back ejection machine makes the same ejection pattern. Galih waited for each object to be at its meeting point and swiftly swung the sword slash. Objects with the closest distance were successfully destroyed, still remaining energy that shot rapidly towards the next object. Unfortunately, this energy lost momentum. The next thing has left the meeting point. It also happened on the next wave.
