Ulong Dagger

Ulong Dagger
The Battle on the Coast

Heidrich borrowed a merchant ship owned by the airline because their warships had previously burned and stolen Ulong and friends.

Although the borrowed ship was a merchant ship, but at that time the merchant ship also had a cannon. What distinguishes it from warships is the cargo space and the larger body of merchant ships as a place for storage of goods and logistics. So in general, merchant ships move more slowly than warships that are slim.

Unmitigated, so as not to be classed as before, this time Heidrich brought two hundred soldiers at once, both Dutch and indigenous soldiers with various equipment. After all the preparations were completed they lifted the anchor, sailing after the Maghrib.

On the boat near the bridge, Heidrich stood staring at the ocean ahead with John. At night the wind is strong enough to blow from land to sea. Several times they had seen torches and flickering lanterns coming from several fishing boats in the distance that set out to find fish.

"Would it not be better to take a box with a piece of Suma's body and take it away and move it?", asked John to Heidrich.

"And let Ni Gaok go on a rampage and attack where we can't even expect to? No, this is the best opportunity for us to retaliate against them, at sea where they cannot use their power and run away like they would on land" Heidrich replied.

He looked at Jhon and laughed a little.

"Aah", Jhon nodded in understanding.

He followed his commander turning his gaze forward, towards the vast, dark sea as if it was brimless, and he smiled.

He was glad that finally the most complicated problems had been solved, the commander had returned, treachery had been proven, and they were again facing the real war, no longer a prolonged polemic.

After about three hours of sailing they arrived on the island where Suma's body was hidden.

Still there, there was no sign of Ni Gaok.

Immediately lifeboats (hands on), unloaded. And the company's soldiers took turns riding it towards the mainland.

After Heidrich and his soldiers landed, the ship was hidden on one of the nearby islands, in a sheltered spot of coral, so as not to be seen by the incoming enemy.

Heidrich led his army to follow Edward, his soldier who had survived Ni Gaok's attack to show him where they had hidden the chest containing Suma's body.

They walked without sound and without light in a state of alert, to avoid the possibility of Ni Gaok and his guards having arrived first and attacking them.

About fifteen minutes of walking they finally arrived at their destination. And there was no sign the coffin concealment had been re-corrected.

Heidrich breathed a sigh of relief, then ordered his men to light some torches.

He stared at the mound of coral surrounding the place.

"Do you think the same as I think the commander?", asked Jhon.

Heidrich laughed, "yes this rock mound can be a very good siege place, he said".

The mound of coral surrounding the chest storage location was about ten meters high with a steep wall. The mound was so wide that it reached the ocean to the North and East of the island. It is suitable to be a place to attack and defend.

Heidrich ordered a well-known indigenous force, highly skilled, to carry rope and climb the cliff. Then from above the soldier lowered the rope he was carrying.

Heidrich and his entire army immediately climbed onto the rock mound.

On top of the rock mound they prepare to take a position to trap Ni Gaok or anyone who tries to take a chest containing pieces of Suma's body.

Ni Gaok and his entourage rode slowly on the outskirts of Belawan then broke through the thickets and trees to reach the port.

Initially he planned to seize fishing boats in villages on the coast, only through his crow he saw the movement of the company's army in the port of Belawan, he even saw an officer with them whom he could have expected was Heidrich.

He had lived for hundreds of years, experienced enough to see that the ship that the company's army rode on was a merchant ship with many cannons. For especially if not to prevent himself from saving the chest containing Suma's body he thought.

He suspected that an enemy soldier who had survived his attack a few days ago on the outskirts of the city must have told Heidrich and now they were preparing to fight him. Then if they use a boat to get to where the crates are hidden, it is the same as letting his entourage be an easy target to drown the enemy's cannons.

So the only option left at this time was that they would have to seize another merchant ship and use it against the company's soldiers at sea.

Now after dawn he led the party to the port of Belawan, riding across the swampy fringes of mangrove forests.

About twenty minutes into the dark, they arrived at the pier.

As soon as the lights of torches and lanterns were seen in the harbor in front of them, the six bodyguards of Ni Gaok immediately descended from the horse and moved forward slowly.

Two company soldiers were seen chatting away from the direction where the guards were coming.

A guard of Ni Gaok approached them and banged the heads of the two soldiers. "Shelf!!", the two poor soldiers collapsed with their heads broken.

Duars!! Daar!! Dar!!

Following the sound of gunfire being released, the whistle was repeatedly blown up in several places around the pier.

Bullets hit the body of the guards, the six guards of Ni Gaok immediately ran after the shooting soldier. Thinking the opponent was a commoner the soldiers who had shot out were now pulling out his sword.

And the fights were inevitable, the five guards of Ni Gaok were fighting with the soldiers of the dock guards.

"Let's move quickly!!", Ni Gaok ordered to his entourage. They drove the horse towards a nearby merchant ship.

The company troops who were with Ni Gaok immediately opened fire while racing their horses.

Rows of gunfire barked back and forth, some company soldiers who arrived because of the sound of gunfire immediately became victims, falling hit by bullets.

Although since the port was attacked by Ulong and friends the number of guards was increased, still the enemy was too much for them. Now those who survived could only hide being pinned down.

Soon Ni Gaok's party boarded the ship they were heading to, leaving their horses at the dock.

The bodyguards after taking care of the guard soldiers immediately ran after them on board the ship.

Two other soldiers who stood guard on the ship had opened fire, greeted by a barrage of enemy fire. Because the opponent was too many and impossible to dispel, they plunged into the sea to save themselves.

Gunfire was still heard several times unpretentious, accompanying the ship to leave the port, disappearing in the darkness of the morning.

About three hours they sailed, and slowly the dark changed with a tinge of sunlight on the eastern horizon.

Before long they arrived at the beach shown by the company's soldiers being held hostage, when the sun had fully appeared.

Very quiet here, only the sound of waves pounding and seagull screeches crowded in the air. But Ni Gaok could estimate that the enemy had already arrived first and was hiding waiting for them.

The soldiers had already lowered the lifeboats, prepared to land, Ni Gaok sat cross-legged on the deck of the ship concentrating and then removed a crow to fly over to watch. The crow immediately flew across the shoreline towards the island.

Bledar!, Duar!! The bledumm!!

Dozens of cannon shots aimed at them from other enemy ships that they had not expected at all. The ship Ulong and his entourage followed behind.

Ni Gaok was startled, his concentration crumbling and his crow was now drifting without direction towards the island.

The crow drifted far inland, then Duar!! a shot hit the body of the bird, until its body bounced and some of its feathers were released.

The shot was fired by a company sniper who was with Heidrich lurking on the reef.

Heidrich had heard Edward's story that this Gaok often used his crow to observe the enemy, and as soon as he saw a crow coming to the island (it was strange to him to see a crow in a place so far from the mainland), he ordered a sniper to shoot the bird.

As soon as the bird was shot, Ni Gaok fell down in pain, the bird was not just a tattoo on his left shoulder but part of his strength. He felt a sting on his left shoulder where the crow tattoo he sent. "Damn!!", he growled.

Previously, Mat Kecik and Arman chuckled in the cannon room, "this is Put's try", said Mat Kecik handed the torch to Putra.

The son simply smiled faintly and received the torch in his hand and sulk it into a small hole on top of the cannon.

Bleduar!!! The son flinched, only once did he light the cannon, it turned out to be unusually loud. Mat Kecik and Arman chuckled at the surprised expression of the Son.

Returning to Ni Gaok, dozens of cannonballs were fired, some hitting the hull, and some hitting the hull, some hit the sails and some made a whirring pass over their heads and fell in the sea causing a burst of water that flushed everywhere.

Wood shards flew here and there at deadly speed. Some members of the group were bounced off due to the explosion.

The soldiers on Ni Gaok's ship could no longer retaliate, the enemy ship so suddenly appeared from an unexpected direction. Even Ni Gaok did not know whose group was currently attacking them.

Their ship began to burn, the sail masts rattled and fell on some soldiers.

Most of the people who were on the deck directly jumped into the water saved themselves.

Now the second wave of shots is ready. The cannons have been refilled.

Mat Kecik, Arman, and Putra prepare each in front of a cannon while holding a torch.

They turned to each other then nodded, "Shoot!!", shouted Mat Kecik.

The Duar Dar Bledum Duar!!

All the cannons on the side that led to Ni Gaok's ship were fired. And again dozens of cannonballs hit the ship Ni Gaok and the group.
