The Witch and the Vampire Prince

The Witch and the Vampire Prince
06 — Trial

The night has come. The vampires were watched closely, the forest around guarded by many large, dashing wolves. They know that night is the active time of the vampires. But since Phyllis had already cast softening magic on them, they could not attack. Although each vampire has its own magical powers, Merlin's protection is strong enough to hold them back.

Aunt Gill and Louve are back in the village because they still have to work tomorrow. Merlin escorted them to the bridge into the forest. It was not a matter of underestimating the werewolf's strength, but Merlin felt grateful that the Gilbert family continued to help him.

"Be careful, Aunt Gill, Veve" said Merlin, waving his hand. Louve smiled widely and nodded, then followed Aunt Gill cheerfully.

Afterwards Merlin went back in and went home. Uncle Gill was already waiting and driving him in. Tonight Uncle Gill will stay over to keep an eye on Louis. Louis himself would not do anything because he also wanted his fangs back.

From the afternoon, Phyllis sat in the library chair and did not leave. Even Merlin had to take his dinner to the study table.

"Louis, go back to the cage" Uncle Gill ordered. Louis who had been accompanying Phyllis stood up.

"What's? I join them? I don't want to!" reject Louis firmly.

Uncle Gill sighed. "Who do you think you are here? Are you disgusted at gathering with your own people?" satirize Uncle Gill while approaching. He pulled Louis' collar and forced him out.

Tonight Louis is forced to sleep in a werewolf-made vampire cage. Although they are creatures who move at night, but they must rest because the next morning Phyllis will be used for testing.

The next day, the werewolves who were keeping watch at night started to change shifts with the others. Uncle Gill himself slept at Cayenne's house from exhaustion. Merlin himself goes to the market to buy milk and pick up Louve.

Phyllis was ready and walked over to the vampire cage. With the weather not so hot, but the bloodsuckers still use the robe. This doesn't interfere with Phyllis' magic while vampires don't cover her fangs.

"Come who's willing, please raise your hand." One of the other werewolf uncles, Uncle Orlan, was commanding the vampires. No vampire would raise their hand.

"Hey! You guys heard no?!" he was upset because no one responded. Phyllis instantly pulled Uncle Orlan to retreat.

"Uncle Orlan just sit down. Let me do the talking" said Phyllis softly. He looked at Uncle Orlan who then retreated to watch for vampires who would come out of the cage.

Phyllis drew closer to the lips of the cage while watching the vampires who were reluctant to come face to face with her. Self-esteem matters, they refuse to become guinea pigs even though their fangs have been softened.

"I'm sorry I put you in such a difficult position. I just want to protect myself. Aren't we all going to do anything for our own safety? Vampires with magical powers would do the same, right."

The two hands that were still hugging the large thick book were getting tighter and tighter. "I just want to get this done quickly and you can go back to the kingdom. But for the first try, I want to do it to a volunteer who's really willing to have his trial spell work."

After that, the vampires looked at each other. They think long enough. Phyllis herself is still standing at the edge of the cage, waiting for a vampire who is willing to be tested. Louis who had been silent since finally approached.

"I want to try."

After Louis advanced, Uncle Orlan immediately took him out of the cage. The young vampire sat opposite Phyllis in the middle of the courtyard.

A wolf approached. Be on standby if Phyllis' magic works, then the vampire can bite her.

"Just calm down, uncle. The spell won't work that easily. So you can relax more" explains Phyllis while looking for the spell page she learned.

Phyllis spoke a lot today. His voice sounded soft. Phyllis used to shut her mouth because she was lazy to spend her energy talking. Phyllis lives with Merlin, who often turns into a black cat. They have little communication apart from eye contact.

The change attracted Louis. He realized that the girl in front of him was quite sweet and cute. His face looked innocent as he listened line after line of handwriting on the sheets of magic books. That's adorable.

"Show me your teeth" Phyllis ordered. The vampire opened his mouth. Phyllis approached and observed the pointed teeth. Horrible, it looks scary even when pressed feels tender.

The girl was short. So that Louis's sitting position is very appropriate to check Phyllis. It's funny to Louis. The little guy in front of her is so cute and mini. Like a dwarf in a fairy tale.

"What are you smiling for?" Suddenly Uncle Orlan approached as Louis smiled with a grin. The werewolf man pulled Phyllis away from Louis.

His gaze was so sharp, so vile. Even Louis-class vampires shuddered in horror. Uncle Gill himself was not this cruel. What's with Uncle Orlan?

"You think evil of Phyllis, don't you?" intro to Uncle Orlan. Louis quickly denied. In fact he was just imagining how small Phyllis' body was under that thick black robe.

As the atmosphere heated up, Merlin and Louve came to bring a few glasses of milk for the vampires' breakfast. Louve distributed the glasses of milk to those who were hungry. Don't forget to give the fried chicken blood sandwich. At least they have blood intake even through food.

"Why not chicken blood?" ask one of the vampires while chewing on a sandwich with another normal tooth.

"Very extravagant," Merlin replied casually then brought Louve in after finishing her task.

Louis looked at the glass of milk, and drank it. Not to forget he ate little by little Louve's sandwich. There was no taste other than the taste of fried blood. At least he has filled the stomach with the original food although in a different way.

Phyllis is back to Louis. This time he asked Uncle Orlan to stand guard some distance away. He waited for the test rabbit to finish breakfast.

"You?" tawar Louis's. Surely he did not like this wheat bread or would vomit even more. Because she does not like to throw food away, Phyllis accepts and devours it.

"Nake?" ask Louis. The girl did not answer. Louis just realized Phyllis did not like to talk about trivial things other than with her brother. Merlin was also not the type to talk much. These brothers seem very similar.

The vampire sighed and drained his fried chicken blood. Don't forget to chug the rest of the milk before continuing the trial with Phyllis.

The little witch stood back up, preparing to return to cast a spell. His magic wand swung and jerked forward along with the rest he cast a spell, but nothing happened.

It repeated a few times. Even when Phyllis focused her energy onto the index end that was attached to the magic wand, the spell remained dysfunctional. In the end Louis is put in a cage and alternates with other vampires.

Phyllis did the same. The results are no different either. Instead, it makes the mental vampires more lackluster because of despair of the fate of the next few hundred years, which will be known as a group of soft-finged vampires.

Seeing that it continued to happen, Merlin could not stand it and got off the terrace. He approached Phyllis and picked up the book.

"That's not how to learn this cancellation magic, here let me teach you first."

Merlin pulled the magic wand from under his cloak and pointed the wand at the vampire teeth. But while concentrating his energy, Merlin was suddenly filled with smoke. And slowly it shrank, turning into a black cat.

It seemed that Merlin could not use this magic for some time to come. Because there are some cancellation magic does require more magic power. Not all of them, but one of them was the cancellation of softening magic.

Charlie who knew of this condition could only tell Merlin from within. He just kept quiet and acted next to Phyllis' feet, accompanying the girl to practice.

The black cat also thought about how to practice this magic. Because this magic is rather difficult to do and must pass several stages. Each stage takes a lot of time.

Of course vampires and werewolves can't wait any longer. Who would want to be forced to hold back and linger to cooperate with the mortal enemy? Ah, it feels like Charlie just wants to sleep because he's tired of thinking.
