Chapter : 18 – Research

Asahi decided to circle the giant lake first to see the situation there. At a glance, all the beaches in the lake are filled with rocks and ordinary land. There was no strangeness at all until Sakura exclaimed in slight astonishment.

"Hey, what the fuck is this!?"

"What's Sakura?" Asahi stopped her steps and turned to face Sakura with a frown.

"Asahi, look at this, there are patterns." Sakura pointed at one of the stones that was on the riverbank. When Asahi came and saw, it turned out that there was a circle pattern in which there was a strange letter that read "one".

Because of the power that was out of nowhere, all Immortals could understand every word and writing in that world. So when Sakura and Asahi look, one look at them if the symbol is read "one".

"I also saw a symbol like this there with two and four" Sakura said, pointing to the direction they were coming from.

"Why didn't you say daritadi?"

"I don't think that's important. You remind me that Star Lake is frequented by Ring of Chaos players. I thought all these symbols were made by a prank player, wouldn't we in the world of the Ring of Chaos be able to do everything? Including drawing on the ground or carving stones if you are bored?"

Asahi nodded in affirmation. Then he looked back at the strange symbol. After thinking for a moment, he said.

"What symbol was written before?"

"Two and four."

"Remember that! Now we're going to go round this whole lake."

Without waiting for a response, Asahi walked back to circle Star Lake. The confused Sakura also did not know what to do other than to follow the young man. He just wondered why he had to remember all those symbols.

For about an hour they walked, finally returning to the starting point. That is to the place where the small boat that was used against the Loch Ness Monster docked.

During that time, Sakura still did not understand what Asahi meant. Until he could not hold back any longer and asked.

"Asahi, what exactly are we doing consciously? Just circling around while memorizing those symbols? What do you want?"

Asahi looked at the girl for a moment before pointing to one of the hills close to Star Lake. The hill was filled with tall trees, but behind the height of all the trees, there was an even taller building. It is a pillar.

"Look at that, do you remember when you played Ring of Chaos there was such a place nearby?"

"I saw it, but I've never been here playing that game so where do I know if there used to be that place or not?"

"Maybe all those patterns we can use in that place. Maybe it was a ruin or something else. It's certainly not an ordinary place."

Sakura looked at the pillar carefully. But in his view, the pillar was nothing more than a butut pillar that was about to collapse.

"We're going there?"

"Of course, you've memorized the pattern, haven't you?" Asahi.

"It's memorized out of your head, you take it easy."

"Then let's go."

They walked to the hill which turned out to be quite far away as well. Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the foot of the hill. And after half an hour, they just arrived at the top of the hill which turned out to be very spacious.

Asahi got rid of some tree leaves and shrubs that blocked the path. Then after arriving at the vast land that was at the peak, it could not be prevented again both of them were flabbergasted at the sight before them.

"W-what's this? The pyramid?" sakura muttered to see the building from the stone getting higher and taper it.

"Better we see."

It is like a pyramid in Egypt. Shaped limas that square and more upward increasingly tapered. Made of mossy bricks stacked up to tens of meters up.

Around the pyramid, there are four pillars that are ten meters high. Each pillar has a different carving. The first pillar had a carving of a lion sleeping in the middle of the blaze, the second pillar carved with a dragon flying around the clouds.

The third pillar is the eagle perched on a tree branch, and the last pillar is carved by a crane standing on the water. Of these four pillar carvings, neither Asahi nor Sakura understood the meaning at all.

"What do these pillars mean?" sakura asked after being with Asahi around the pillar.

"I don't know about this either. In the final mission that is the storyline of the Ring of Chaos, no one has brought up the story of these four animals."

After a while of walking, they finally found a door at the bottom of the pyramid. A large door that also has beautiful carvings.

"How do I open this?" sakura asked when she did not see the door handle or padlock or anything that showed it was the door.

"See this." Lin Tian pointed to the basins that were within those "walls.

"I think this is the door. These basins are the key to opening them."

"Then what should we do with this basin?" Sakura asked again.

"Somehow, let's take a closer look, there's writing in every basin."

Asahi read them one by one and tried to understand them. The upper basin reads "THE DRAGON OF ALL ELEMENTS, THE RULER OF HEAVEN"

To the basin below, it reads, "EAGLE OF THE EARTH'S CONTROLLER"

Under it again, "BANGAU THE RULER OF WATER"

And at the bottom, "LION THE FIRE CONTROLLER"

"What does all this mean? Does it have anything to do with all those pillars?" Sakura spoke her mind.

"I feel that way. I don't really understand it, but let's look back at the pillars starting from the dragon carving."

Sakura followed Asahi as the young man walked around the dragon-carved pillar and started twirling around her. But nothing, there was nothing he could find to fill the basin.

And after a while, finally Asahi looked up, towards the top of the pillar that reached ten meters.

"What's the matter Asahi?"

"I want to see the top."

"What, how did you–" has not had time for this speech to be finished, Sakura was surprised by Asahi's next action.

The young man without much more ability had already activated the Bounce Step skill and started to leap high to that peak. This obviously made Sakura dumbstruck from shock and awe.

A few seconds later, Asahi again jumped down. This time, his hand held something.

"See this. Isn't this exactly the same size as the basin?" asahi asked while showing Sakura a perfectly round, sky-blue crystal.

"Absolutely, does that mean we have to put all four round crystals into the hollow that's in the door?"

"Right, it's likely so. Let's continue to gather the other three crystals." without waiting for a reply, Asahi had already darted quickly to the other pillars and picked up her round crystal that was at the top.

While Sakura was still too amazed by the action of Lin Tian who could move around like that teleportation.

"Now, let's try to enter" he said who had gathered the four round crystals.

Suddenly, the place they were standing on shook and slowly the four pillars glowed brightly. The sky blue dragon pillar, the green eagle pillar, the purple stork pillar and the golden red lion pillar.

Not stopping there, just a few seconds after that, a phenomenon occurred that made Asahi also Sakura wide.

Because, from the luminous pillars, the silhouette of the animals appeared according to the pillar. Dragon pillars appear blue dragon silhouette, eagle pillars glide green eagle silhouette. Likewise, two other pillars also appear animal silhouettes that match the color and carving of the pillars.

"What..what happened?" Sakura started to pale her face thinking the four animals were about to attack.

But what he thought was far from expected. It turned out that the four animals did not move anywhere except just to stay at the top of their respective pillars. Just standing still without caring about the existence of those two human figures.

Except for the silhouette of a flying dragon swerving over its pillars, moreover, all of the animals were simply standing gallantly on top of their respective pillars.

"Let's put these four crystals on the door immediately!" invite Asahi who immediately pulled Sakura's hand.

Without waiting for long, Asahi immediately put the four crystals into place. After all, the giant door shone brightly and the four animal silhouettes that had come out of its pillars shot rapidly towards that door and entered into their respective crystals.

Shortly after, the door opened slowly and revealed endless darkness.

Simultaneously, the four pillars surrounding the pyramid began to dim before finally losing their light.

"Let's go in. Don't stay away from me!" asahi said while taking out a bright yellow glowing ball. This is what was made light for both of them.
