"You don't want to go down there?"
Suddenly Andreas makes a sound again when he sees Starla's gaze continues to be directed down there, making him offer something that Starla might want.
"no need. Just look at it from here."
His eyes moved slowly through the place, then stopped on the whitewashed garden chair, the place where the first time Andreas started a conversation with him. He remembered once that day, suddenly Andreas came to him and for the first time they chatted despite just the usual chatter being so clumsy.
"Have you ever felt like I'm going through this time?" it was his murmur that made Andreas turn towards him, then go back on. "Become a tool to vent all revenge and anger of someone. It really hurts, you know? It's even sadder when you feel you don't have any faults in the person. You wanted to tell the truth, but to say a single word he never gave you a chance."
Andreas looked at the woman fixedly. So much pain and disappointment in that blank look didn't mean Starla's. Even with his soft voice, even sounded desperate every time the woman spoke.
"I'm sure Skylar didn't really do it."
Instead of asking, men prefer to state the statement.
"May I tell you a little?" starla asked lightly and without having to wait for Andreas' approval, the woman resumed her conversation.
"It seemed like misfortune was indeed eyeing my life. So many consecutive sad news happened to me. Starting from the news of Gabriella who has a mental disorder."
So suffocating. Starla recalls visiting Gabriella, but Skylar always prevented her from going there. The man never once allowed himself to meet his best friend, until the moment when the woman tragically ended his life. All of that really made him shocked and shook his feelings, he was not there when his best friend died, even he was not there in the last moments Gabriella was in pain alone. And Starla really regretted everything.
"Pun with Arland who had a tragic accident then left many endless big problems that even I knew after his departure. And after that, Gaby ...." Starla gulped her saliva violently. "Everything is so sad and sad. I don't even understand what kind of event I'm going through right now. Not stopping there, fate again tossed my life when he reunited me with someone who hated my life so much. Someone who thinks my life is the greatest disaster ever.
"Mr Skylar assumes that you're the one who helped Arland to hide." For this time Andreas was completely unable to determine how the type of sentence he had just thrown. Is that a question or a statement? I don't know.
The woman took a heavy breath as well as her half-looking face. Trying to block his tears that force to be released immediately. Then threw his sad gaze at Andreas while shaking in despair.
"I never thought about that ridiculous act. You probably won't believe what I'm saying. But really, Arland hardly ever returned to the apartment because of his own busy life, and I just always say that every time Gabriella asks where Arland is." Pause for a moment his sentence. Starla heard her own voice that was increasingly shaking and her breathing began to be irregular. "And really, I was completely unaware of Gabriella's attitude back then. I always thought he was coming just to visit me. Arland never said that they were in a relationship, nor with Gaby. They both hid their special relationship with me."
Starla immediately broke her gaze as a single tear flashed across one of her cheeks. His hand moved nimbly rubbing the damn liquid. But what he did was not quick enough. Andreas has seen it.
The disbelief just hit his heart. He had thought that what this woman was saying was me, just a lie. Only a fool as a fool to be free from the cage of hatred. However, all of that speech sounded much more sincere and honest, as well as desperate. Frankly, Andreas was so nervous, even afraid and wary of the truth. His mind was worried as the shadows of regret increasingly disturbed his mind.
Because the truth will always be revealed even though it's too late. Then, the delay that always results in a regret. Everything is related, right?
"May I ask you one thing, ma'am?" andreas asked after a faint thud.
"Ask it," Starla murmured in a soft tone.
Andreas is back to beating slowly. "Is ... do you hate Mr Skylar?"
He did not know why the stupid question flashed in his mind all of a sudden, then thrashed and shouted out a protest so that it would be issued immediately without having to wait long. Andreas was sure that even a seven-year-old would have laughed out loud had the question been heard directly by them.
Starla's lips covered a bitter smile. "I've been in love. First love of course. That man is my best friend's brother. Sincere and compassionate. I like his warm smile. I love the way he talks, and I really like the way he looks at me. Oh, did you know? No one knew I was in love with her at the time. Even my own best friend didn't realize it when I always asked him anything related to that man."
Andreas' forehead was deeply wrinkled which made Starla chuckle lightly before poking out her index finger. "You remember a week ago when you came up to me in that chair?"
"Yes," Andreas replied after following Starla's index finger in which direction.
"At that time, you asked me a few questions, didn't you? I think I just answered it now."
Again the man was stunned when he heard the answer.
"And ...." He ventured to return to voice, trying to break the silence that had controlled both. "Is that feeling still there?"
"Not anymore" Starla replied in a stern tone. Hatred and disappointment were evident as Starla looked at the man fixedly, then shook her head softly. His heart melted as he recalled the short answer he threw at Skylar last night. "All those feelings were gone for just a blink of an eye, ever since he first cracked my life. I hate that guy. Hate him all my life."
And in the end, that answer managed to leave Andreas at a loss for words.
