Ch.60 - Exercise II

Xiang Shin made some formation papers before walking out of the cave. Xiang Shin looked for a place some distance away so as not to disturb Qin Zhiyun and Qin Qiaoyu who were recuperating.

Xiang Shin took out some formation papers he had just made. All those formation papers floated in front of Xiang Shin forming a 5-sided.

Xiang Shin did a hand seal and instantly the five formation papers let out a flash of lightning. A flash of lightning in the center of the formation then unleashed a surge of lightning energy that shot forth.

The lightning energy hit the trunk of a pohong until it fell.

“Hm... still very weak, this might only be able to kill Martial Master level cultivators,” Xiang Shin stroked his chin, “ya it is only natural because this is a tier 1 formation array only, this is a mere rank 1 formation array, it is still at the most basic level. I better practice again.”

Although the formation array seemed more troublesome to learn but according to Xiang Shin, studying the formation array was much younger than the magic circle.

That was because drawing the formation symbol was not difficult and activating it was easy. Unlike the magic environment that requires a high understanding to be able to form Qi energy into a magic circle.

But when the magic circle can be done it will be easier to use than the formation array.

Xiang Shin started to draw more formation papers and did many experiments. On that dark night Xiang Shin spent time practicing the formation array all night until the sun rose in the eastern horizon.

“Just making a formation array from level 1 to level 3 alone has consumed all my spiritual energy,” Xiang Shin set his slightly irregular breath.

Xiang Shin could already create the atmosphere of a level 3 formation in just one night. The formation experts would definitely not have anyone believe it if Xiang Shin told him of his achievements tonight.

To understand the formation array from level 1 to level 3 took many years and Xiang Shin was only one night away.

If not for the concept of a formation array being the same as a magic circle then Xiang Shin would not have been so easy to grasp the formation array.

Xiang Shin sat down cross-legged, starting the recovery of spiritual energy. A few minutes later Xiang Shin felt his spiritual energy begin to recover.

“I now know spiritual energy can also be used to attack directly,” Xiang Shin made a semi-transparent needle in his hand and threw it into a tree trunk.

“Only an attack of spiritual energy cannot directly injure the physical but will injure the soul,” Xiang Shin saw the spiritual needle stuck in the tree but did not give any scratches to the tree.

Just sticking it up as if it was just an illusion.

“To make the spiritual energy influential on the physical requires intermediary symbols in the formation array until the spiritual energy can give a physical attack,” Xiang Shin further performs the recovery of spiritual energy by consuming pills.

After a few hours, Xiang Shin's spiritual energy had fully recovered.

“Good time to resume training!”

Xiang Shin had already become an extremely powerful magic circle master, then why would he bother to study the formation array even though he had mastered the magic circle?

It was because unlike magic circles that used Qi energy, formation arrays used spiritual energy, an energy that came from one's soul. If at some point Xiang Shin ran out of Qi energy, then he could still use spiritual energy to fight against the enemy.

Xiang Shin took out some formation paper that was directly stuck to the ground. With a single hand seal, the active formation array and then the ground on Xiang Shin's feet rose, giving a powerful repulsion until he was thrown far up.

Xiang Shin again took out a formation paper, making waves of wind that held him back from falling down.

Xiang Shin flew around looking at the Mosnter Forest. He was still on the outskirts of the Mosnter Forest so there were only low-grade Spirit Beasts in this forest.

When Xiang Shin saw the pack of wolves, he thought of making them his training means.

Xiang Shin changed the formation paper to scour the lightning flash and then threw it.

A flash of lightning fell amidst the wolf hordes that were resting under the trees.

The wolves immediately woke up then looked at the source of the attack while growling with sharp gazes as if emitting anger.

Xiang Shin landed in the middle of the wolf horde.

“15 Wind wolves Martial Grand Master level to Martial Spirit level,” Xiang Shin could feel the power level of those wolves, “you guys could have killed easily even just using physical strength alone, but I will not attack with Qi energy nor physically directly.”

Xiang Shin wanted to train his skills and reflexes in using the formation array.

Some wind wolves directly attacked. Xiang Shin threw out a formation paper that turned into a fireball.

With just its claws, the wind wolf exterminated the fireball, along with Xiang Shin who was already in front of the wolf, glued the formation paper on his head then leaped away.

Xiang Shin did a hand seal, instantly the formation paper became a flash of lightning that made the wolf convuls and fall unconscious.

Xiang Shin nimbly dodged all of the wolf attacks while giving a counterattack every time he dodged.

The wolves that attacked based on instinct alone, did not realize that on their feet they had already stuck to a formation paper.

Xiang Shin activated all of the formation papers, making mounds of earth curb the legs of the wolves.

This opportunity was not wasted by Xiang Shin, he threw a lot of formation papers onto each of the heads of the wolves.

“Very easy,” Xiang Shin did a hand seal, instantly all the wolves got stung by lightning until convulsing.

Xiang Shin did not kill the wolves, nor was there any point in him killing them. He walked away leaving all the wolves in convulsions.

Xiang Shin was just casually walking around looking at the forest. In some places he saw quite a number of low-grade herbs growing, only that they were all herbs that were only useful for repelling mosquitoes and insects, completely useless for him.

Arriving at a place, Xiang Shin paused for a moment as he looked behind the bushes looking like there was someone.

He walked until he saw that there was an old man's back sitting on a tree trunk collapsed by the lake.

Curious Xiang Shin walked closer and closer, he saw the old man fishing.

Who is this old man? How could he fish in the Mosnter Forest filled with Spirit Beasts? Is he just a lost old man who doesn't know where he is right now?
