Wenie was immediately secured by the police after being released from Prasetyo's hostage. He endured the hysteria when he saw the two men in front of him dueling so hard that an officer was forced to end it with a single shot for Prasetyo to bend easily.
Not waiting any longer the man was immediately led into one of the police cars to undergo temporary detention in the nearest police station. But it turned out that the gunshot wound on his leg was not able to throw a spotlight of hatred and a cynical smile on Frans, even though the one who was stared at was unperturbed.
"You were lucky to stop him in time because of that loose buffalo, Doctor .." joked Doni Permana.
"You're right, sir," Frans said in a smile. "Truly a lucky buffalo. Maybe next time I should keep one ..."
Doni chuckles. "You'd better meet the girl soon, Doc. It seems that he is still a bit in shock. After that immediately take him to the police station for a preliminary examination."
"good. I'll catch up with you soon, sir" Frans replied.
"Oh yes, and don't forget to take care of your injuries, Doc," the commander pointed to his face.
Frans reflexively touched the left cheekbone and moved his jaw as it began to feel a slight pain there. "Sure, Commander ..."
On the front porch steps of one of the residents' house, a policewoman patiently calms Wenie down, she receives a cup of warm tea given by the homeowner to help her relax a little. Many citizens felt sympathy for him but did not dare to approach.
Frans approached her slowly and gestured with a slight nod to the policewoman to leave the two of them. Then the policewoman immediately resigned and joined some officers who were still on guard.
"Wenie, are you okay?"
The girl looked up for a moment and then threw her face away, as if she was upset and sad at the same time.
"I'm sorry I'm late .." Frans said again.
"No need to apologize, Mom. I should be the one apologizing for bothering you," he replied softly, still not wanting to stare.
"May ..." Frans touched the girl's shoulder but was immediately pushed over.
"You better not involve yourself any further, Mas."
"What do you mean?"
"Nothing ..."
"Look at my eyes, Wen," Frans grabbed her chin and knelt on one leg. "Tell me clearly, what do you mean?"
Wenie felt her eyes heat up again and her heart ached a little. "none. You're hurt because of me and I don't want to add to the problem by involving you in my problem with Pras" she nodded with a smile of strength.
"What did you say? Hey, I'm doing this because I'm worried about you and it's worth your safety .." Frans softly denied, Wenie still fell silent resisting. A clear water rolling from his eyes that had been damp.
"Sorry, Miss. It's time we went to the police station so you can give a testimony as a witness" said a police officer politely.
"Good, Sir. I will come along," replied Wenie who immediately wiped away her tears in haste. "Sorry, Mas. I have to go."
"Come, Miss ..."
"Wait," Frans interrupted quickly, he blocked Wenie's arm and immediately stood up from his position. "I'll drive you in my car ..."
"It doesn't matter, Mas. I'll just go with the police car, you better take care of your wounds in the hospital first" he replied, letting go of his hand. But Frans' checks turned out to be pretty strong.
"You're not leaving without me. Besides, don't you want a little help taking care of me, hm?"
"The nurse will help you well, besides you are a doctor .." she said, but Frans flinched. "Prelease, Mas ..."
"I just want you to take care of me," Frans said with a meaningful smile, making Wenie's cheeks stiffen in embarrassment.
"Miss, if you want you can get in Doctor Frans' car and we'll escort you from the back" the policeman suggested as he watched the two men in front of him argue over the insignificance. "It's getting late, miss," the police said, urging a little.
"This girl will ride in my car, sir," replied Frans calmly indisputably.
"Well, then I wait there," said the policeman pointing to the patrol car next to his car, Frans nodding lightly.
His gaze was back on the girl by his side who was still trying to let go of his grip. "I'll be with you until it's over, Wen. You can't refuse."
Wenie shook her head stubbornly, she was still heartbroken as Frans' cruel words still lingered in her mind. "That's enough, Mom. Thanks for your help and attention, I don't deserve more ..."
But Wenie did not care, disappointment filled her heart and actually she still wanted to cry but was held back as hard as she could. He kept looking away from Frans until he grabbed Wenie's shoulders, forcing her to look him in the eye. "Look at me! Listen carefully, don't judge yourself low just because I'm solemnly saying those stupid things. You're much more than attractive, Wen. Even I've been so tormented since yesterday you disappeared from my sight ..."
Wenie was stunned looking into Frans' brown eyes, she was looking around for lies that might be implied there but nil. His gaze seemed to plunge into the heart that his words were honest without making up. But he still doesn't want to believe it.
"I beg you, Wen .. forgive me. Don't complicate any of this, throw away all that negative thinking .." he said gently.
Wenie's eyelids warmed up again, her lips as if she was unable to say anything. Again only a tear came down expressing his feelings.
"I'm sorry .." said Frans once again then grabbed the little girl in his arms. "Don't ask me to go, Wen, because it's never gonna happen."
Wenie was unable to resist Frans' warm embrace which clearly channeled longing and worry at once to her. "I'm scared, Mom. I'm afraid I won't be able to get through this ..."
"Pacify yourself, Wen. I'll always try to be by your side no matter what, okay?" frans said while looking down to kiss the top of his head. "We're leaving now?" Wenie immediately nodded.
Wenie walked on Frans side who was embracing her waist somewhat possessively, yet her face was bowed in shame. He did not want to see the people around him who looked at him curiously.
Before opening the car door for Wenie, Frans chatted for a moment with a number of officers preparing to escort them to the police station.
Along the way to the police they fell silent, immersed in each other's thoughts. Wenie was busy examining her own feelings, while Frans focused on driving while devising a plan to retaliate against Prasetyo. He must be punished severely, so willed.
Arriving at the second police was immediately directed to the investigation room on the second floor to make BAP and Frans reports were allowed to accompany Wenie during the examination, he stayed by the girl's side until it was over.
Initially the examination that had been running for some time was still smooth without any significant obstacles, Wenie was able to answer all the questions of the investigator well. But the atmosphere suddenly tense as the door opened and two men entered the room, a burly man in a police uniform with a tall, grim-faced man with handcuffed hands and tiptoed steps who was none other than Prasetyo.
Wenie stared in shock mixed with fear, she reflexively shifted her chair towards Frans. While Pras seemed to be holding back his anger seeing the scene in front of his eyes.
Although with a little bit of fatigue but it did not fade the negative aura that out loud from him. The officer who led her placed her on Wenie's left side with less than a meter. He was confronted by a different investigator but in the same room.
Wenie really felt even more nervous and scared, she could not sit quietly in her chair right now. Seeing that Frans immediately rose to exchange positions with Wenie.
Ciiih, even now that the damn doctor acted as if he was the hero, Prasetyo seemed to clench his hands holding in fury but of course he could not express it because it would be even more burdensome later.
After spending about six hours in the examination, Wenie and Frans were allowed to leave the room first, leaving Prasetyo with his investigators. It looks like he still needs to be examined for a while longer and will soon be locked up in a temporary detention house at the police station.
"Thank God, this time the examination is over. Now we have to rest first, sweet lady," Frans joked as he stretched his tired body.
"Yes, Mas. I'm also tired and hungry .. oia, what time is it?" ask Wenie.
Frans glanced at the watch in his hand. "It's almost twelve o'clock in the evening. It turns out a long time also yes, if it has been dealing with the police," said Frans tired. "You'd better come with me."
"Where?"
"Searching for rest. You're tired and hungry, aren't you?" asked Frans who was immediately taken by Wenie.
"But, shouldn't we look for a twenty-four-hour clinic to take care of your wounds first, Mas?"
"I already have my own nurse" Frans said, holding Wenie's arm without further ado. He grasped the soft fingers carefully and feeling so that the girl could feel the thump of his heart so unkillful.
"Tell me where you're going, Mom?"
"You'll know later, the important thing is we can rest the body and mind first ..."
"Right, I'm tired too .." said Wenie while stroking her shoulder that felt cold. Frans reflexively took off his parakeet and put it on Wenie.
"Eh, no, Mas."
"Wear it, the night air is cold outside. Not good for a little girl like you, you will get sick easily .." said Frans while slightly brushing off the little dust that was left over by the fight this afternoon. "If you're in the car, you can sleep until I find rest for us."
"really?" asked Wenie who was feeling bad, Frans simply nodded with a simple smile.
So Wenie chose not to take a headache, when she arrived at the car she immediately relaxes herself in her sitting position Her eyes are already very heavy and can no longer be resisted by drowsiness mixed with fatigue. "Thank you, Doc ..."
Frans wanted to protest but soon fell silent to see the girl had closed her eyes which still left a little puffy, then chose to continue driving her car out of the police station.
