54. Finding Joan

Ken was still speeding on the streets, suddenly it was raining heavily. But Ken did not care about it, he still drove under the rain that fell. Luckily Ken's phone is water-repellent, and it doesn't matter if it's wet.

He didn't care that his phone might be dead and broken, but he just wanted to find Joan. He did not care that his body had started to get wet because the rain water had already penetrated the jacket he was wearing. 

"Wait for me, Jo! I'll save you," Ken.

Soon Ken arrived in the yard of an abandoned house. The two men who kidnapped Joan are waiting for Ken to arrive. Ken got off the bike and took off his helmet. He approached two large men, while one thin man was in charge of looking after Joan.

"Stop there! Raise your hand, if you dare to fight .. Your girl will disappear" said one of them.

Ken obeyed their orders because he had not seen Joan. Ken's afraid that they're really doing something bad to Joan. Ken raised his hand high and the two raincoat kidnappers came up to Ken and put Ken's hand behind his back. 

One of them opens the barn door, and the man holding Ken pushes Ken inside. The man who opened the door did not enter but stood guard in front of the gate. Ken was brought in and inside the barn, under the lamp of one other man. The man put a gun on Joan's temple.

Ken turned wide when he saw Joan in a bound state and in his head attached to the tip of the kidnapper's gun.

"Who are you guys? Don't hurt Joan! If you have a problem with me, then let me bear it. Don't involve Joan!" Ken yelled at the two kidnappers. 

The kidnapper holding the gun steps up to Ken and puts his gun around Ken's neck. Joan was hysterical and screaming.

"Don't! Please, don't hurt him!" Joan mourned with tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Jo, you're okay, right?" ask Ken, make sure Joan's situation.

"I'm doing fine. Why did you come? Stupidhead! I told you not to come, why should you come?!" Joan yells at Ken.

Ken and Joan beg each other, and Ken begs them to let Joan go and Joan begs to release Ken. The two kidnappers smiled mysteriously. They pushed Ken to his knees in front of Joan, who was tied to a chair, and the two kidnappers laughed.

"You ask each other for forgiveness for your partner. Unfortunately, our boss wants you both, hahaha" the kidnapper said with a laugh.

"Enjoy your time together, tomorrow our boss will meet you. And tomorrow you'll know who our boss is" said another kidnapper.

They went out and left Ken and Joan in the room. They shut and re-locked the warehouse door. After they left Ken immediately checked Joan's body condition.

"Jo, you're really okay, right? They didn't hurt you? I'm helping you untie the rope" Ken said worriedly. He looked around for possible tools to help remove the cloth rope that bound Joan's hands and feet. 

Ken searched among the piles of cardboard that were in the corner of the warehouse. Ken finds a pair of scissors, he wonders, why are the kidnappers so careless? But Ken didn't want to think about it any further, wasn't it good for him. With the scissors, Ken can untie Joan. Ken immediately took the scissors and cut the rope that bound Joan.

Joan immediately got up from the chair and pushed Ken as his hands and feet were free from the rope. Ken fell back and sat on the floor. 

"We've broken up, why do you care about me and come here. I told you not to come. You fool!" Joan yells at Ken. He was very afraid if anything happened to Ken. When she saw Ken coming, Joan's feelings of joy were mixed with sadness. Joan is happy that Ken still cares about her but she is sad that Ken could be persecuted by the kidnappers later. 

"I love you, Jo. You think I'll just shut up when you get kidnapped? No, Jo. I can't see you getting hurt" replied Ken. Ken backed off and sat leaning against the wall of the warehouse.

Joan was silent to Ken's words. He sat on the floor and leaned against the same wall as Ken but slightly away from Ken. Ken screeched amusedly at the sight of Joan who chose to sit far away from him. 

"Thank God you're okay. Why were you kidnapped by them? Where did they kidnap you?" ask Ken. Ken asked Joan to talk so she would calm down a little. Because Ken saw Joan's body trembling in fear. Ken knew what Joan looked like, she looked strong and tough on the outside, but in fact her heart was fragile and weak. Just like any other woman in general.

"They kidnapped me in the park, as I was walking home," Joan replied.

"Where?" 

"Watch." Joan glanced at Ken. He saw Ken's soaked body, from his jacket and pants still dripping water. Joan felt moved, Ken to be willing to penetrate the swift rain for her sake. Joan's gaze turned back to the front, as Ken turned his head and their views clashed. 

"Who?" ken asked, bending his legs. Her wet clothes started to make her cold. He hugged both knees. His lips began to turn blue, his body also began to shiver. 

"With Radja ... that's, right, the one on your mind?" 

"Stupid. Why go for a walk alone? You can invite Andin or your other friends," said Ken.

"Hem," Ken replied briefly.

"Tomorrow, we might die at the hands of their boss. Can we solve the problem between us right now?" ask Joan. 

Ken did not answer. Half of his heart was waiting for Joan's explanation, but half of Ken was afraid to hear Joan's explanation. He was afraid, if Joan had said the bitter fact that her heart had indeed changed. 

But Joan did not care, although Ken did not answer, Joan still explained everything from beginning to end. Joan began to tell stories.

*One day after returning from Surabaya.

After last night Ken saw Joan drive Radja to the gate of the house, and Ken saw her. Ken is a little late to Joan's house, having to take Andin first to Marinka's house to take college assignments. 

While Joan was waiting for Ken at the gate, Radja passed by Joan's house. 

"Jo, haven't left for college?" ask Radja from the car. Radja lowers the car glass and greets Joan.

"No, Sir. It's waiting for Ken" Joan replied.

"Oh. But it's noon, you can be late if you keep waiting. Just come with me, how?" ask Radja. 

Joan glanced at her watch, it would indeed be too late if Ken did not come soon. But Joan is afraid to get in Radja's car. Joan is afraid that Ken will get angry with her when Ken finds out, Joan goes to college with Radja.

"Why? Afraid I'll eat you? Haha. Take it easy, I'm passing by here because I want to pick up my fiancee, so we're leaving in three. There's no chance for me to eat you" Radja said.

Joan smiled in response to Radja's words. When Ken arrives, Ken sees Joan's smile and sees Joan getting into Radja's car and leaving with her.
