32. Watching together (3)

Andin and Ken arrive first at the movie theater, Ken buys four bags of popcorn and four glasses of fizzy drink.

"Why so much, Ken?" ask Andin.

"It's okay, guys," replied Ken.

Andin follows Ken into door number 2. Andin sat in the back row and Ken sat in front of him.

"Ken, are you sure Joan will be watching here?" ask Andin.

"I'm sure. Yesterday Joan said she'd watch it here with another man. So later, you help me to persuade Joan, ok!" said Ken.

"Ok" replied Andin. While waiting for the movie to play, Andin plays his phone. There was a message from Riko. Andin opens the message and sees the sender ID. Riko asked about Andin's whereabouts. Andin replies to a message from Riko and tells her that she is watching a movie. There was no reply from Riko, Andin put his phone back into a brown sling bag.

Before the lights go off, Ken and Andin see Joan stepping up with Jhon. Andin was surprised and asked Ken.

"Ken, the guy you're talking about is Jhon. You guys set me up on purpose? I just want to go home" Andin said, getting up from his seat. Andin stepped about to leave, but Ken's words stopped his steps.

"When do you avoid each other? If you can't be together anymore, then break up well and get back together like you used to. This kind of behavior makes me and Joan uncomfortable" Ken said.

Andin felt Ken's words were right. They can be friends if they are not suitable to be lovers. Andin sat back in his chair. Joan finally reached their seat.

"Hi, honey, long wait?" joan smiled and sat down next to Ken.

"You pranking?" ask Jhon. He turned around to leave.

"Jhon," call Andin.

John stopped hearing the call from Andin.

"Sit down!" andin said again.

John looked back at Andin. For a long time, Jhon longed for Andin's voice, now, when Jhon wanted to release Andin. John was even met with Andin. Hearing Andin's call, John undoes his intention to leave. Jhon then sat down beside Andin, albeit with an awkward feeling.

The lights are turned off and the film is playing. When the lights were turned off, Joan and Ken stood up.

"You talk about your problems! We went somewhere else" said Ken.

Ken took Joan down from upstairs. They came out of the cinema, leaving Andin and Jhon. Either coincidental or intentionally so. It turned out that inside the cinema there was no one else but the two of them.

"How are you?" ask Andin.

"Not too good, you know?" ask Jhon.

"Good." Andin gave Ken a cup of soft drink before entering the cinema.

"Sorry, about me hitting you. Also, about my selfishness. I realize I was wrong. All this time you must have been depressed and uncomfortable being my lover. I hope you will forgive me. I'll let you be happy with someone else, I'm gone" said Jhon. John was about to get up but his hand was held by Andin's hand.

"Until now, you're still selfish. Once you speak, you will leave immediately. Don't you want to know, what do I want to tell you?" ask Andin.

Jhon stared at both of Andin's beads. He abandoned his intention to get up and sit next to Andin. Jhon drank his soda to wet his throat that felt dry.

"I know you can't change. Therefore, let's break up well and return to friends like before. I think it's better than us torturing each other's hearts. Let's just be friends" Andin said.

Jhon clenched his hands, trying to dampen the feeling of pain in his heart. Jhon did try to release Andin from his side, but Jhon never thought it would hurt that much. When Andin said the word breaking, his heart seemed to be slashed by a sharp dagger. With all his heart, Jhon smiled bitterly and extended his hand before Andin.

"Let's just be friends, if that's what you want" said Jhon.

Andin was disappointed because Jhon did not refuse at all, even though Andin's intention was to lure Jhon. Whether he still wants Andin or not. It was beyond your expectations, Jhon smiled and agreed without any rejection at all. Andin also received a helping hand from Jhon. They shook hands and smiled with force.

They then stared at the cinema screen that was plastered wide in front of them. Their eyes were fixed on the screen playing a romantic movie, but their minds wandered far away. Their gazes were blank, both of them feeling a sense of emptiness as their relationship was completely over.

They never imagined that this day would come. The day their love bond is severed because of their individual egos. The film is played and the lights are back on. They came to a realization from their daydreams as a glare light pierced through their eyes. Visitors to the cinema who will watch the next film, began to enter the cinema building.

John takes Andin out of the cinema. They walk together in silence. No one started the conversation after they officially broke up.
