Theft in the OSIS Room

The Final Semester (UAS) is over. The tense times are over. Today is the day of the announcement as well as the sharing of UAS results. The disciples crowded in front of the notice board in front of the teacher's office enthusiastically. I broke through the crowd of students who were crazed in front of the notice board. When I saw the UAS results yesterday, I was in third grade. Quite satisfying, I thought. Rank one is still held by my Class Leader, Amelia Anastasya. But when I look at the second rank. I saw Maya Evangeline's name on it.

The surprise! I looked back at the announcement paper. But there is no change. Maya remains second. Looks like I lost the bet. By the way where is he? I need to stay away from him for a while. I'm heading to the cafeteria.

Before arriving at the canteen. Someone stopped my steps in the corridor.

"Male!"

I recognize that voice. That, Maya.

"Male! Are you trying to escape?"

“Te... Of course not.”

I can only bring out a forced smile. How could he possibly get a higher rank than me? He did not learn much and prepare. That's how my mind is right now.

Maya opened her eyes and scared me. "You know Aria, I'm not stupid. I'm just lazy to show my cleverness."

He said as if he knew my thoughts. “I didn't say anything.”

He walked a few steps until the distance between our faces became very close. If other people saw us, they would probably think we were going to kiss. However, my feelings right now are very scared. I've never been this close to a girl.

I nodded weakly. “Sorry. I failed to persuade Maya.”

Amelia and I were having a discussion in the cafeteria.

Even though he doesn't seem to care. I could see the light of hope in his eyes. Too bad, I can't persuade Maya like she hoped.

“Yah. We put Maya's problem aside. I have a little problem.” Amelia looks lethargic.

“What problems?” While hearing the story I sipped my warm tea which was already getting cold.

Some people were still lined up at the cafeteria table. Lucky for me to have ordered food before the queue that long.

“You know that in addition to being class president, I also joined the disciplinary committee.”

I'm nodding.

Amelia let out a breath. “Today someone has taken cash from the OSIS room. Therefore it seems like I will be a little busy today.”

I don't think there's a theft at this school. By the way this school has a school gate that is heavily guarded by security. Not to mention in this school there is a disciplinary committee organization that is in charge of maintaining security. So, it will be difficult for a thief to enter without being caught, unless the thief is also a student or one of the employees of this school.

“When did it happen?”

Amelia stood up while sighing tiredly.

“It looks like just now, I just got a message from an unknown number. Therefore I will go to the OSIS room to investigate the truth.”

“Maybe I can help you.”

“You mean?”

“Maybe I can help you investigate this matter. Count as my apology, if possible I can help you investigate this.”

For a moment he seemed to think.

"It seems interesting," he muttered in a small voice.

He agreed with a big smile. “Good. Let's just go. But let me remind you. Don't underestimate the task of the disciplinary committee.”

Amelia excitedly walked in front of me.

The OSIS room still looks a mess. There was cracked window glass and broken glass scattered in front of the room.

While inside the room, there were some messy tables and chairs. We hereby conclude that the message Amelia received turned out to be true.

Amelia opened the door casually. There was an older student there compared to me and Amelia was busy working on some OSIS documents.

The student stopped his work and turned his eyes to us.

“Hai, Mel. How are you?”

“My news is good Virga. Brother himself how?”

“As you can see. I had to make our financial statements in the middle of this mess. It's grim! I can't clean this room alone.” He seemed to complain about his stumped duties.

He's looking at me. As if understanding, Amelia introduced me.

"Aria, this brother's name is Virga, we used to go to school in Junior High, so we knew each other. He is currently the secretary of OSIS."

Brother Virga approached us with a warm smile.

“Sister Virga, this is my classmate, Aria. He's here to help me investigate the matter here. ”

Amelia lazily introduced me to this upperclassman.

“Although previously his intelligence had been defeated by a student from my class.”

Oi-oi don't bring my replies here to the Class Chief. That's how I feel in my heart. When I saw him he smiled mockingly.

Brother Virga laughed a little. My face may be flushed at this time. He put his hands together to shake hands with me. “Thank you, Aria.”

After shaking hands, I forced myself to smile. Maybe I have formed a strange face by now.

“Wah looks like you really want to solve this mystery.”

Virga's brother laughed again before finally telling a story.

“Before our cash is lost, in this OSIS room there is only me who is in charge of calculating OSIS cash. When I finished, and put it in the envelope, I put the money on the table, because I had to go for a while to take care of my class. When I came back, this room was really messy like this time.”

I look around. Outside the room, this 3rd floor hallway looked deserted. No one seems to have passed by. Not many second and first graders came here. In addition to the OSIS room, on this floor there are third year classrooms and OSIS as well as other organizations.

“Is the door locked?” ask Amelia.

“Yah of course. I had the courage to leave the money in the OSIS room because I thought it would be safe here. I don't think that the thief would be this brutal.” Brother Virga pointed at the broken window glass.

“Does this room have duplicate keys?” ask Amelia.

Virga looks like she remembered something. His eyes glanced at the thing on my left with a blank look. “As I recall we don't have a duplicate key. This room has only one key.”

Brother Virga showed me the key and Amelia.

“Oi Aria, don't you act as a detective here too. Why am I the only one asking questions?”

"Ma.pardon me."

I was shocked by the sudden words Amelia had spoken to me. So I spontaneously denied it by apologizing. But after I thought about it, resolving this matter was indeed his duty as a disciplinary committee.

“Sister Virga, how is the fate of OSIS with cash finance like this?” my many.

It seems my question is not important. Actually I can guess the culprit. However, Amelia can be angry if I don't ask a single question.

Women are hard to understand. They are like a mirror. He can tell my flaws and advantages. But if I touch her violently, she'll hurt me. And if he's broken, no matter how hard I try, I won't fix it. So, as much as possible I don't want to deal with the mirror so as not to get hurt.

“We will apply for funds to the school to replace it.”

"Sister Virga, do you want me to expose the culprit?"

I'm nodding. The best smile I put out to return his sneaky smile.

"I think you're the perpetrator of this heist."

“What do you mean, Aria?!” Not the angry Virga sister, but Amelia. His face was like asking for an explanation. I was surprised when I noticed that Brother Virga was still able to act calmly.

“I'm sorry if it's disrespectful. But I'm sure Virga's brother stole the money.”

Brother Virga looked sharply at me. Smile disappeared. “Interesting. Why are you saying that I took the money?”

I looked at the door and the window. Where everything started. That's where all these misunderstandings come from. The misunderstanding then forms an alibi that protects the real thief from the snare of the case.
