Stiff Corpse

Stiff Corpse
THE TERROR!

The night wind blows, freezing my bones. It's cold, it feels like it's in the fridge here. My body was shaking violently, either from cold or fear, or both, I don't know. I've never felt so threatened like this. Hiding, being chased by something that can kill you, it feels terrible. Had I been able to shrink the sound of my heartbeat beating this fast, and could have held my breath for only a few hours, they might not have been looking for me. Why don't they just die? Why are they rising again? Why must there be a curse? Why should I PTT in a damned village like this? WHY DO I HAVE TO EXPERIENCE ALL THIS??!!!

My eyes stared blankly at the night sky decorated with a bright full moon. My lips dabbled and kept shivering. My hands clasped my knees tightly, as if they were about to come off. I continued to shake my body back and forth, occasionally drowning my face in the knees. Fear, cold, and frustration raged into one. I don't even know which one to handle first.

I'm sorry, why was we in such a hurry this afternoon to put the girl's body in. Our carelessness was to leave the knife that was still stuck in his eyes. We all never imagined that the knife was then used as a weapon, to shred the spell paper that was stuck behind the wooden door. Mas Joko was the first to realize that, when he saw the paper rips scattered outside the morgue door. We also indirectly armed the body of the child, thus wounding Mr. Hendra.

What makes me confused is that there has not been an hour, the body of the Father has risen, even immediately able to stand and run. It was even strong enough to break down the wooden door - which was tied to an iron chain - from its hinges. In fact, I actually saw the body of the Father was still lying limp –complete with several gunshot wounds in his chest full of blood-wrapped body bags. Really, this is all out of the ordinary. We think the body of the Father rose in the early hours of –or at the earliest midnight - and he should have risen slowly like any other corpse, not necessarily standing firm like that.

My negative thoughts roamed wildly, gnawing at my brain. The more I think the more my heart keeps beating like it's whipped. Plus this darkness, which kept suffocating my chest made me drown in despair. I don't know what to do now. To be sure, I must continue to survive in this hideout, until morning, no, until the bodies run out of power.

I don't know what the fate of them all is, Mr. Hendra and his partner, and Mas Joko. After the sound of a loud break, Mr. Hendra's colleague immediately put his gun down and ran out of the health center, leaving us. At that time I was sewing the wound of Mr. Hendra with Mas Joko. The hearts of the three of us were like being struck by lightning when we heard the loud roar of a man. After that we heard two or three shots. Mas Joko ventured out a peek from the window, looking at what was going on outside. Soon after, he looked in horror. I can already imagine what happened, as soon as I speed up my work.

Mr. Hendra clutched my trembling hand –sibuk bandaged the wound with gauze and plaster. His eyes glared in horror at me, I could see his warm face so frightened. He asked me to stop taking care of his wound, and immediately went into hiding. Mr. Hendra also ordered Mas Joko to go out and turn off the power fuse of the puskesmas, which was on the outside wall near the main door.

It was a very good idea, giving us a chance to hide. But this request to leave himself in the ER was a bad idea, I rejected it outright. But Mr. Hendra insisted on forcing me, while pulling my shirt collar like a threat. Then he snapped again Mas Joko who was still still fixated, so that he immediately went to turn off the fuse. Mas Joko also ran in tears. He almost fell when his foot hit the door of the ER.

A moment later our heart was once again struck by lightning when we heard the roar of a child who was earthy with the roar of his father. We also remembered a terrible fact. Two bodies were raised that night.

My heart rippled violently when suddenly the lights went out. Mas Joko has turned off all the electricity puskesmas. Silence instantly ambushed, darkness enveloped around me. Of course, the sound of the TV that had been boisterous rang out, was now silent for a moment. While being constantly chastened with fear, I crept slowly, leaving Mr. Hendra who had put his gun at rest. He prefers to hide under the ER bed while continuing to point his gun towards the door and window alternately.

My head looked up, peering at the main door out of the puskesmas. I can't see clearly. The only light at that time was from the full moonlight that illuminated the grass of the puskesmas field. No human, or corpse in sight, where is Mas Joko? The roar was still heard a little, but the voice of the Police scream was no longer heard. Is he dead? My feathers are trying to imagine that. I don't have time to stay here, I have to hide. My head turned towards the stairs.

"YESHOO!!!"

I quickly ran out, about to pick up Mas Joko who was still shouting. I wanted to keep his mouth shut, and invite him to hide, but the corpse was already so close to Mas Joko. I could only stand still when I saw the figure move stiffly, approaching him. This time I could see her figure clearly up close. The back of the corpse was full of gunshot holes, of course he died in the gunshot while fleeing in the forest. But there are some holes that still shed blood, maybe it's a hole from the bullet of Mr. Hendra's colleague. Crazy, even after being shot so many times, the corpse could still stand. This is the power of the curse. Fear had made Mas Joko's feet freeze, stupidly he just screamed without trying to escape. The body then stabbed Mas Joko with a knife.

The body of the father violently pierced the shoulder of Mas Joko. His eyes were dark black, and from his blood-filled face was scratched a grinning smile. He looks very satisfied. Mas Joko groaned in pain. I was unable to do anything, fear also froze my bones, I did not dare to move. I can only look at the blood of Mas Joko who scattered around.

Then there was a loud gunshot coming from my shoulder. It was so loud, it was as if a bullet had shot past my right ear. With a slight daze, Mr. Hendra appeared behind me with his gun pointed. Pak Hendra's bullet hit the body's temple, penetrated into his brain, and made him collapse. Taking advantage of the situation, I immediately lifted up Mas Joko's body and pulled her into the health center, keeping her away from the corpse.

Mas Joko looked so painful, his face looked pale, while continuing to groan holding the wound on his shoulder. I immediately closed the wound with my hand, trying to stop the blood from continuing to pour. Mr. Hendra, limping, then approached the body that fell down, while continuing to point his gun. While kicking his body, he checked whether the corpse was really dead or not. The corpse did not budge, although its black eyes were still wide open.

Suddenly from the darkness, a small child appeared and pounced on Mr. Hendra. His little teeth bit Mr. Hendra's cheek until it bled. Instantly he fell down. The boy's body mercilessly tore Mr. Hendra's face apart. My heart seemed to stop, when I saw Mr. Hendra screaming in pain. They were both wrestling and I, again, could only get riveted in fear when I saw blood splashing everywhere.

Then my gaze was fixed on the reflection of the moonlight from the gun of Mr. Hendra, who fell near the door of the puskesmas. I swiftly ran –leaving Mas Joko who was lying limp grabbed the gun and tried to aim at the woman's corpse. But I can't shoot. The boy's body was wrestling over Mr. Hendra's head, I was afraid of hitting his head. Especially when it was so dark, my view was blocked by darkness. And I've never used a gun before. Grrr!! I snubbed annoyance.

Then someone suddenly hit my hand, making me drop the gun. His eyes blackened towards me while continuing to grip. I can calculate the number of holes in his chest clearly this time. The body of the Father rose again and attacked me. My heart felt like it was being squeezed when his right hand started swinging a knife at me.

Luckily for me, his movements were stiff and slow so there was a chance for Mr. Hendra –After successfully breaking free from the dead boy-jumped and clutching the feet of the father's corpse, leaving him a little shaken. With his face smashed with wounds and blood, and eyes almost gouged out, Mr. Hendra shouted, telling me to run away. Immediately I ran into the puskesmas, taking advantage of the attention of the corpse that was turned on Mr. Hendra. I snatched Mas Joko's body and immediately carried her running towards the stairs, leaving Pak Hendra who was now grappling with two undead.

While climbing the stairs I can see the face of Mr. Hendra hit by a hard kick of the body of the Father. I didn't see him move again after that. Seeing Mr. Hendra who collapsed, the child's corpse then jumped and continued the pending shred. I closed my eyes sadly, trying to ignore. I have to save the ones that can still be saved first, my life and Mas Joko's. Then I continued to climb the ramp stairs, holding Mas Joko who was so heavy.

I hid Mas Joko in the lab. I told him to shut up so the bodies wouldn't find him. Mas Joko nodded sadly. I could see cold sweat pouring out of his face, it seemed like he was enduring the pain with all his might. Then I locked it from the outside.

Then I looked up at the hallway upstairs, immediately getting an idea. I opened all the doors of the patient's room and positioned all the bolsters and pillows covered by bed sheets. If indeed their human instincts were still –as at the time of the corpse of the grandfather who picked up my phone first - they would have been fooled by the bolsters and pillows that resembled the sleeping person. It should have worked, I hope they don't find Mas Joko. Then I ran to the doctor's bedroom and hid.
