Stiff Corpse

Stiff Corpse
Dead Body?

Dead bodies occur due to the cessation of blood circulation in the body. The blood that stops then comes out of the blood vessels and penetrates the surrounding skin, giving rise to the image of bruising. When the bruise is touched, the blood under the skin will be depressed and shifted around. Depressed skin will be free of blood so as to cause scars. That's the medical theory I remember when the Young Doctor.

I saw my hand in his hand. The woman could not be alive, she was already a corpse. His skin had bruised the corpse and I touched it, so my hand held it. That means THAT WOMAN WAS DEAD WHEN I TOUCHED HER LAST NIGHT. I couldn't believe it, I kept repeating myself, flipping through my logic. How could the corpse sit? I watched it myself he sat on the bed with his head down. I touched it, I felt the coldness of his body, felt the stiffness of his corpse, everything was so real. I'm not crazy right? I also saw him standing up and chasing me while spewing out white liquid. The big question in my head right now is, is it possible that a dead person could live again?

I shook my head, trying to digest all this. Oh yes I remember! After being chased I fell due to tripping over an iron chain on the floor, then I woke up in the guard room the next morning. Is it just a dream? But did my head hurt when I woke up, or did I faint from fear? I always couldn't control my fear, right? Then who moved me to the doctor's room? Mas Joko's? Ah, I dare not ask. I always had trouble controlling my fear. I was scared, scared when this was all real. I'm not sure what I saw that night was real either.

Mas Joko, Doctor Denny, and Mr. Badrun have not talked about the woman's body since that day. We are active as usual, this health center runs like a rule. Maybe it was true that I stumbled that night, and Mas Joko moved me secretly. I'm so ashamed that my phobias from when the Young Doctor reappeared. Maybe, so afraid I saw a corpse, I became hallucinating a no-no. Then I passed out from fear of seeing a corpse. And bodies... Ahhhh it is impossible! already! I groan in frustration. If I told you this, Mas Joko would laugh at me. I better forget about that. After a few days, nothing strange happened.

It had been two weeks since that first night, indeed there was no more strange incident. Actually, more precisely, no more bodies were sent to the puskesmas. For the past two weeks, I have been unable to sleep, haunted by fear and curiosity. Therefore, I have been quietly all this time, undergoing the night shift puskesmas normally as usual. Mas Joko and I - the two medics who were always on guard at night - were no longer talking about the night either. We jokingly say hello as usual, doing service activities as usual, nothing strange. More precisely, nothing strange yet.

..............................................................

That afternoon I was sitting on the front porch of my house. Simple patio with a slightly dirty white ceramic –aku lazy clean-up lately. My house, which is on the edge of the village, is far from the center of the village crowd. There is no other house on my left and right. Yet a few meters to the right, there was a towering mansion of luxury. It was the residence of the original owner of this house.

My house is big enough to be inhabited alone. A one-story building with a brown roof is like a house in modern housing. The owner painted the house in plain white. I can still smell the paint, and some building dust here and there. It seems like only a few months ago this house was completed. Inside there are two rooms that I rarely sleep –aku almost every night. This house is quite comfortable and decent, and the rent is affordable.

A cup of warm milk coffee accompanied me to enjoy the twilight. The air in this village is not cool at all, it feels like I live in an urban area only, only deserted people. The puskesmas air is still cooler than here. Just this time I went out and sat around in the afternoon killing time, waiting for my watch at night.

On the road in front of my house many dilapidated motorcycles passed by. Creative young people who modify the exhaust of their old motor, until the sound is deafening. Proudly they crossed the streets of this desolate village. But no residents seem to be disturbed. As if it had become a routine every afternoon, they took a walk, drove to show off their motorbikes. Not to forget the cigarettes are clamped on the index and middle fingers, which adds to their cool and fierce appearance. Hahaha, I pray they get TB right away.

Ah I remember the stories of the puskesmas people about this village. Drunken youths, wild races, freesexs. Even the adults do not lose. Gambling, alcohol, prostitution and many other depraved activities are not mentioned. I didn't expect this isolated village to be as much sinful as urban. Hah..it doesn't feel like a remote area PTT told by my seniors. I just moved the location, with the same depravity.

"Darkamun only dok..."

I was surprised, an old man suddenly came to greet me "Oh sir kades... monggo sir, please sit down"

I was dissolved in daydreaming until I didn't realize Mr. Kades, this village chief came to me. I know him well, the owner of this house, and the first person I knew in the village. He brought his own coffee from his luxurious home. He was friendly and kind, even though the villagers were so depraved and unfriendly.

"Sir... I believe not si.... if there is a corpse can live again?" say prank.

Mr. kades was surprised not to play. He even choked. With a cough he spilled the coffee that he had almost swallowed earlier. I panicked a little and patted Mr. Kades on the shoulder.

"Ohuuk-Uhuuuk..."

"Geez sir... isn't papa?"

"Hahaha no papa doc... Uhuuk... Thank you" he said, rubbing his lips with his hands.

"Why sir? Shocked by my question?"

I looked at him seriously. His face bent, his eyes rolling around here and there, not daring to return my gaze. Mr. Kades seems a little scared.

"Haha... Doctor son... Doctor son... Clearly surprised... Son of a doctor this is a medical man, DOCTOR!" Said mr. kades firmly "...Be educated! Cook believes in such mystical things.."

I just kept quiet and looked at him blankly.

"If Doctor Denny heard. son doctor must be laughed at hahahaha..wong DOCTOR, I believe the same so... hahha.. not logic.." he said casually while returning to drink the rest of his coffee.

But I swear, his hand trembled as he held the glass. He even almost spilled another gulp of these two.

I felt like I was being slapped, insulted by her words. I try to be patient with this old man. I then shifted the subject to something else, and we talked until dusk.
