Stiff Corpse

Stiff Corpse
Second Corpse

After bathing and berberes, I immediately headed to the puskesmas. Unlike when I first left for the pusksmas first, I left for the puskesmas in the afternoon before evening. The mountain road full of uphill rocks, only illuminated by village lights, which turned out to be less bright when evening approached. Darkness covered my journey every day. I'm not a coward with mystical things. But ever since that terrible event, I've always walked quickly to get there. Of course it feels tiring, ordinary walking has made breath panting. But this afternoon, I was getting used to it.

Arriving at the gate of the puskesmas I saw a foreign ambulance with a burning siren parked originally beside the main door. The driver's door was left open and there was no one in the front seat of the ambulance. But on the open back hood, I saw an old man lying limp and a young woman holding his hand crying. Several times the grandfather groaned "Nduuk... Nduuk..." (Call girls in Javanese) and try to pull the woman's hand closer. The crying of the woman became. I did not feel good looking at them, I rushed into the health center to prepare myself.

Near the ER room, I saw Mas Joko discussing with the ambulance driver. This patient is not from this village. Seeing me just come, Mas Joko let me in. I greeted him briefly and immediately went upstairs to get ready.

After putting the bag in the doctor's bedroom I rushed down and headed for the ER. But I don't see those two people. Then I looked out, the ambulance was gone. I went out of the puskesmas and looked around, where was the patient?

"What's the doc?" mas Joko suddenly appeared next to me, making me shocked. My heart feels like it's coming out.

"Oh, make me surprised... Where was the patient? Been taken away again?"

"The patient I put behind the dock just now"

My heart stopped for a moment. My body stiffened for a moment, my hair shuddered in horror. I stared blankly at Mas Joko who was now handing out a paper containing the "Letter of Death".

"These are all docks, as always..."

I gasp to gulp "Oh... s-already.... dead?" I said with stammering.

"Yes... D-dok.." said Mas Joko a little scared.

But I'm more scared. I could have sworn that grandpa was still groaning. Didn't Mas Joko see it? My hands trembled as I grabbed the death letter. Me and Joko mas then go into the puskesmas.

I walked into Doctor Denny's check room and started reading the paper. It was written the data: the name Mbah Ngaminto, age 67, the origin of this village? But what was unique was the place where he died far away in the city, it was strange. And in the letter it says "Died of heart disease". Behind the paper is also attached a photo of EKG coffee (Electrocardiogram) or a recording of the patient's heart.

This grandfather actually died of a heart attack, this is not a criminal case. I then remember the words of Mas Joko and Doctor Denny, that the corpse is criminal or not, as long as it is still a citizen of this village or KTP in this village, will be put in our puskesmas morgue, and get the same "Treat. It seemed like this grandfather was a native of this village who lived in the city until the end of his life. Maybe Grandpa was going to be buried here by the family.

"Dok... nitip ate the dock?"

"Huh?"

"Dok... nitip is not? I'm gonna buy this..."

"Eh... Da... Yes, the nitip mas... Frying is usually yes..."

"Pedes yeah?"

"Oh. yeah..."

I ignored Mas Joko. I was too busy flipping through the death certificate. Where I was..oh family! Yes, it's strange, usually when the son of sodara died, we will always be next to his corpse, take care of it, bathe it until the funeral. But in this village no, they left him in this morgue, just not banging him. They waited a day, and were taken home. If you die in the morning, the new family will come night or day. And conversely, if died in the afternoon then morning or afternoon keesoan day, just taken. Why do they do that, what is the function of waiting one day? And why should this morgue puskesmas? Why not just at home?

So was the woman who seemed to be a child (or grandchild?) this grandpa. Why did he leave in an ambulance? Why not wait here? Or does he know "Treat" the bodies here? Is he a village man too? I'm tired of all the questions in my head.

I threw the death paper on the table. I'm tired of thinking! i'm hungry! As if only Joko would buy rice... OHO! Joko has left! I was too focused earlier, I just remembered that Mas Joko came out to buy me fried rice. I rushed out, ah shit, he's gone. I just remembered that I agreed to the offer of spicy fried rice, even though I could not bear the spicy at all.

I went back to the check room and immediately grabbed my phone at the table. Soon I called Mas Joko's phone. My phone is connected, but I can hear the typical old-school ringing sound of his phone around here. Oh shit, Mas Joko forgot to bring a cell phone. Tonight it looks like I'm going to have a stomachache. I breathed in annoyance and put my hape back on the table.

I keep my phone connected. And just like that horrible night, I went back up to the check bed, stuck my ear against the wall, and listened carefully. I heard clearly the ringing sound of Mas Joko's phone from there. Holy hooch! he must have left his phone when he moved the body of the grandfather.

Suddenly the sound of the handpone ringing Mas joko died. I immediately got off the bed and grabbed my phone. Strangely my call to mobile phone mas Joko actually connected.

"Nduok... Nduukk..."

I threw my phone on the floor. My heart felt terrified, I was shaking. Then I turned to the wall, and in fear I climbed up on the bed again and pressed my ear against the wall. Now I can hear the grandfather's voice from both directions, from the morgue room, and from my phone that is still connected. As the cold Eve crept through all the nerves in my body, my heart beat faster, and my sweat began to pour. I closed my eyes, Lord, I'm so scared.

"Nduok... Nduuck... Kowe neng ndi (Where are you?) Nduokk... Nduokk... !!!!! KOWEE NENG NDIIIIII!!!!!!!"

I ran as fast as she could out of the room, screaming in fear. Just as I suspected, THE CORPSE IS ALIVE AGAIN!! I ran out of the puskesmas.

In the darkness of that night, I continued to run scared, passing through the wall of the puskesmas until almost hit by a passing Mas Joko motorcycle. He came with fried rice.

"Doc? what's up?" Panicked words.

"THE GRANDPA IS ALIVE!!!!" I hit him hard.

Mas Joko did not look confused, instead her face turned frightened.

"M... Dead doc... Is dead..."

"IF YOU DIE, CAN YOU TALK TO ME??!!"

I immediately pulled the hand of Joko – mas left his motorbike still on, parked in front of the puskesmas gate - brought him into the check room. When I entered, my phone was still connected, and the screams of the corpse could still be heard clearly. Mas Joko instantly turned deathly pale when I thrust my hand towards her.

"MISS... HEAR YOURSELF??"

Mas Joko just bowed lethargic with sweat pouring more and more flooding his face.

"MEANING THAT NIGHT, THE WOMAN'S CORPSE WAS ALSO ALIVE AGAIN RIGHT?" I kept yelling at him. I was panicking at that moment.

"S-I can explain doc..."

Me and Joko were tense. The fear on our faces can no longer be lied to. The body kept screaming hysterically, looking for her daughter on the phone, it was horrible. This time everything was so clear, I watched, listened to myself, and Mas Joko couldn't deny it either. THE UNDEAD!! I need an explanation right now, a logical explanation, that can kill my fears.

Mas Joko swallowed his saliva deeply. His mouth was shaking, he was about to say something.

"Curse doc... The curse!"
