Chapter 2 The Failed Operation

Bryan relented and left immediately. After her departure, Zoya immediately tells sister Eka to monitor Donita's condition. He will go to get some fresh air in the rooftop. Zoya recalls the first time the man expressed love and begged to be her lover. Even the man always treated her very sweetly. Now Zoya is a little disturbed by the attitude of her lover to his patients.

"What are you hiding?" ask Zoya in the wind. Then someone came up to him carrying a canned drink and thrusting it.

"I heard what happened in the ER room from some of the sisters."

"The news is very fast spreading." snorted Zoya but tears slowly came out of her eyes.

"The thing I hate the most is seeing you cry. I'm not letting you get hurt." The man's voice seemed to be filled with emotion.

"Maybe it's called the ordeal before the wedding."

"Zoya, you should be able to be firm with Bryan. Don't let him do anything at will, I won't hesitate to take you to the undercover if he hurts you again."

Hearing that Zoya laughed softly and wiped away her tears. He sipped the canned drink that had been opened by the man and gulped it greedily until it made him choke. His phone rang, he immediately picked it up.

"I'll be there soon."

"Den, I have to go to the ER room" he said and left immediately.

In the ER room Bryan stared intently at Zoya who had just arrived. For some reason since he met Donita, he seemed to forget who Zoya was to him.

"Why let a patient almost die, why are you so negligent!" bryan's yelling made all the sisters look at Zoya.

"Doctor Bryan, I'm just—"

"Bry, are you here?" ask Donita weakly.

"Yes, Dona, I'm here with you," she said, looking very happy to see the conscious Dona. Zoya's presence he ignored and kept busy with Donita.

Zoya slowly goes from there, she takes care of other patients who need her more. He knew his heart was not okay at the moment. But he always tried to keep working professionally. In two hours Zoya will have a very heavy operation because she has to replace the heart valve.

Bryan comes to his room and scolds Zoya's carelessness which he thinks could cause Donita to die. Zoya who did not accept being accused like that lost her patience.

"How many times do I have to say it! I just needed a break, I didn't leave him unattended. Why are you so angry? Does he mean a lot to you? Who her? Who!"

"She's the woman I loved once, now and forever!" cry Bryan.

The statement that was able to make Zoya aware of the fairy tale world that Bryan had given her so far, was never as beautiful.

"Did I ever really mean anything to you?" ask Zoya softly.

Bryan does not answer, leaving Zoya with a myriad of questions that now bother him.

"What is the meaning of the love you have always said? Is it all just an illusion?" zoya asks Bryan, who is in the doorway. The man didn't budge and left immediately.
