9. Meteor Rain

They immediately put the drinking bottle into each bag and immediately stand in a ready position. They looked here and there, looking for the source of the sound. It's too far away to see what's falling. Then, another second sound was heard. This time it sounded louder and closer.

They were trapped in the middle of the wilderness, where there was no place to hide. Left and right there are only trees, rocks and earth. A strategic place to hit from any side. They panicked even more when they heard the third loud bang, which this time sounded even closer.

"What should we do?", asked Marvin with a pale face and unsettled condition. Arlon just shook his head while looking around to find shelter.

"Let's go up!", snapped a heavy voice that shocked them. They looked at each other and made sure that there was no one but the two of them there. Hearing that, made their hearts beat faster.

"Who else is that?", whispered Marvin. This time Marvin's voice was clearly vibrating, as was his body.

"That's not your voice, is it?", asked Arlon in surprise as he looked at his best friend, who was now pouring sweat from his forehead.

"Not! Since when is the sound of the cave rich!", replied Marvin shuddering. The fourth sound was heard again. This time the sound was heard further than the previous bang. It was like being on the battlefield.

"Let's go up here!", said the man's heavy voice again. The two of them looked at each other and they realized that the voice was coming from the direction behind them standing. They looked up slowly and again they had to meet a talking tree.

"How can it be?", asked Arlon, looking at his hands that were not touching the tree. He also saw Marvin's hand that was not touching the big tree.

"Yes, I am special" said the tree, which looked older than the one he had previously encountered. Its shady leaves and large and sturdy trunk, make this tree look authoritative. His face also looks like a wise man, coupled with fine wrinkles that adorn both ends of his eyes.

Suddenly the fifth bang was heard again, and this time it was about 500 meters behind them. His voice was very deafening. The ground shook strongly.

"Are you two deliberately sitting there waiting until the meteor hits your head and takes out all your entrails?", asked the tree again more casually. Suddenly the two of them immediately climbed the tree trunk per trunk. Luckily they both had been used to climbing during their work taking care of the animals, so to conquer this tree was an easy matter.

Banging after bang kept on sounding. I don't know how many times the alleged meteor fell to the ground. Attack after attack continues, as if the 3rd world war.

Until the meteor fell close to the tree they were climbing. The shape is like a large chunk of stone and bright red. Beautiful yet deadly definition. The vibration made them both almost fall from the top of the tree when they did not hold tight. So great, there are also many leaves that fall from the trees around it.

Smoke from the meteor was gushing and made the air around become darker and look dark. The smell of smoke is very concentrated, making breathing becomes disturbed. Suddenly Arlon found Marvin leaning straight on his shoulder.

"Vin, why are you?", asked Arlon frantically while trying to hold Marvin's weakened body. His face grew pale and his lips turned slightly blue. Arlon is still trying to hold Marvin and himself back from falling from the height they were at.

Before long, Arlon felt a tremendous headache. His head turned and his gaze darkened occasionally. He began to stagger while still maintaining the balance of his body. He almost fell because his heavy backpack pulled him back. Realizing that, the tree immediately tried to help.

"Close your nose!", said the old tree trying to resuscitate two humans who almost died on it. "Take my leaf and breathe out immediately!", he continued.

Hearing this, Arlon realized that the smoke from the meteor was what made him and Marvin almost lost consciousness. He immediately tried to take some leaves that were beside his body. This is getting more difficult because now his view is spinning. He had to try many times in order to hold the leaf in front of him. After his attempt was successful, he immediately inhaled it deeply.

Arlon's consciousness was recovering. While his best friend is getting pale and limp, plus his breath is unusually tight. His body was getting cold. Arlon immediately took a few more strands and attached the leaves to Marvin's nose. His face slowly returned to normal and his breathing began to stabilize. His nerves and muscles slowly began to show his existence again.

They inhaled the leaves until the smoke slowly disappeared. The thump after bang continued to occur, making the smoke puff come alternately. They would rather wait patiently than have to leave as soon as possible.

So tired, they fell asleep on the tree. Although only a few minutes, but enough to make their energy filled again.

"You can get out of here" said the tree, startling Arlon, who was asleep waiting for the alien to stop. He wakes up Marvin, who is still asleep.

"Let's vin, we're going down!", said Arlon, shaking Marvin's body and holding back his backpack.

"Is it safe?", asked Marvin still in a daze. His life has not been perfectly gathered. Arlon nodded and rushed down from there. Marvin who was still half conscious immediately followed Arlon.

"Thank you, Mister. We do not know what to repay your kindness" Arlon told the large tree. The tree can only smile.

"It's okay. For a long time I have not helped the people who chose this path. Last time was a very long time ago" said the old tree while observing the faces of the two of them while maintaining his smile. Luckily they were met with this old tree, otherwise they would have died and merged into the inhabitants of the silent forest.

"It looks like your face is very familiar" said the tree as he closely watched Arlon's face, making himself misbehaved. The old tree seemed to be thinking hard. "I've seen your face before, but where?", continued the old tree while trying to remember.

"Oh yeah? But I've never been here before", replied Arlon casually. He was not too dizzy with the words of the tree because so far many also equate his face with the face of others.

"I remember! You look like one of the people I helped here!", said the old tree enthusiastically.
