Red Diamonds
Chapter 6: Betrayal

Ethan goes through the house and the grounds, trying to find Malvia. But Malvia was nowhere to be found. Aunt Jane's words are always spicy to hear, Ethan's used to it. But not Malvia. Ethan is worried. More about the Malvians.

From a distance Ethan sees someone near his glass house. Ethan approached slowly, and sure enough. It was Malvia who was sitting on the ground hugging both of her legs. Ethan approaches Malvia and points his umbrella over Malvia's head. Malvia looked up at Ethan.

"What are you doing here? It rained very hard. Come on in." take Ethan. Malvia just kept quiet. Ethan held out his hand. "Come." take her again.

Malvia looked at Ethan's hand. He was calm, but hesitated for a moment. Malvia finally welcomes Ethan and stands up slowly.

"Are you okay?" ask Ethan. Malvia nodded slowly. "Let's go in."

Ethan still pointed his umbrella at Malvia who had been soaking wet from earlier and let her body get wet from the rain because her umbrella was not enough for the two of them.

Inside the house, Esther welcomes them with a dry cloth wrapped around Malvia and Ethan.

"Miss.. Take a bath. I've prepared the hot water for the lady and I've prepared the change of clothes" Esther said. Malvia nodded without saying anything and headed straight for her room.

"Sir, what happened to that lady?" ask Ester. Ethan was silent for a moment thinking about what answer to give.

"Maybe the trauma is relapsing. So he's freaked out. I found him hiding next to the greenhouse."

"Ohhh... It's so sorry for him. If I may know... What's name?"

Ethan remained silent. He realized that he had never asked the woman's name. Stupid him. He only heard when his aunt asked him her name was Isabella, whether it was her real name or not, Ethan had no idea.

"I haven't asked" said Ethan, who still cursed himself. "I'll ask you later."

"Good sir. You better change your clothes too."

Ethan nodded. "certain." Ethan goes to his room immediately.

After a while, Ethan knocks on Malvia's bedroom door. At first she hesitated, she was afraid that Malvia was already sleeping. But he finally tried it.

"Come in." said Malvia from the room.

"It's me." Ethan steps into the room. Malvia had changed into dry clothes and was sitting on one of the chairs by the window.

"What's up, Mr Sanders?" ask Malvia.

"How are you-"

"Know your name? The people here call you Mr. Sanders."

"Ahh about that. Just call Ethan. My name is Ethan Sanders. Can I know your name, miss? Which actually?"

Malvia frowned. "Why know my real name?"

"For... Remembered?"

Malvia smile. "No need to remember, sir, we may never see each other again."

Ethan nodded. "You're right. Ahh true. I'm here to apologize on behalf of my aunt. He always talks when he talks. To the point and forthright and painful."

"What are you sorry for? You're not the wrong one. I'm fine, sir. Maybe I was just in shock. But now I'm fine. Take it easy, I won't hurt your aunt. You were the one who saved me."

"I never thought you'd hurt my aunt. I just-whatever it is, I'm really sorry for my aunt. Be rested.. Good night."

"Good night, Mr. Sanders."

Ethan exits the room and closes the door. Malvia breathed. When Ethan was in his room, he tried to calm down. He was always nervous when he was around the guy.

...***...

Malvia heard a noise from her room the next day. He peeked out of his bedroom window. A lot of people have gathered in Ethan's front yard. Men and women and children. Malvia surprised.

Malvia darted with her vampire powers towards the living room. There's no one there. Ethan even aunt and Esther are already on the front page.

"Really ladies and gentlemen.. You don't have to do any of this" Ethan says.

"No, doctor. You have been kind enough to treat us who are only farmers and ranchers without asking for anything in return. This is all we can give so accept the doctor, our thank you" said one of the men standing at the front. It looks like he is the leader of the group, Malvia thought.

"I did it for free, Mr. Mcartney. Really am.. You and the villagers don't have to be like this." Ethan asked. But the villagers insisted on giving. Ethan is forced to take whatever they give him. If not, they will not go home. Malvia could see that the goods given were the harvest. Corn, potatoes some even give their chickens.

Malvia witnessed all of that. His heart became touched. What if Ethan gets caught hiding it? Ethan's gonna be in trouble. He will no longer be held in love and respected like this by his people. Malvia returned to the room as fast as lightning. He found one paper and stationery on the table. He writes something to Ethan and leaves the house. The wound is healed anyway. He could use his vampire powers again which meant that the poison in his body was no longer there. He doesn't want to be a burden and a problem for Ethan. At least this is what he can do for Ethan's good.

"Goodbye, Mr. Ethan Sanders."

...***...

Malvia chose to hide in the forest, waiting for the dark. When it was dark, he came out and mixed with ordinary humans. Her pale skin would not be too visible anymore. Perfect.

And sure enough, in completely blending in with humans. Seeking prey freely in deserted areas. Of course he didn't kill his prey. He's been under control for a long time. He can even hypnotize his prey to forget it.

Malvia has a goal tonight. Calling her best friend from the witches, Helena. Helena was her best friend for a long time. They're always together. Helena will definitely help him. Malvia goes to the forest of the human race after collecting materials to summon witches. Helena once taught him about summoning the desired witch.

Malvia did everything Helena taught and waited and hid. He did not want the army of men to find him or that came was not Helena. A few minutes later, someone just appeared at the place where Malvia had summoned the witch earlier. But Malvia didn't come out right away. He waited to see who he was calling. Because today the moon does not shine so it is difficult to see from a distance.

"Malvia?" call that guy. Malvia knew the voice. That's Helena's voice. Malvia came out of hiding.

"Helena! Thank goodness it was really you!" Malvia came to Helena and hugged her.

"Malvia? Is this really you?!" Helena surprised.

"It's me, of course!" Malvia let go of her embrace.

"God Malvia! I thought you were dead! I'm so scared!"

Malvia cried and hugged Helena again.

"My family, my family's on the beach. My people are destroyed. What exactly was my people's fault that they did such a thing."

"Calm Malvia. All will be well." Helena tried to calm down.

"How can I calm down?" Malvia let go of her embrace. "Now I'm alone Helena."

"Therefore I ask you to be calm and focused! Even if you're alone, you have to survive."

Malvia was relieved to have a friend like Helena. After all the vile things that happened to her, Helena would become her spirit back.

"Thank you, Helena" said Malvia.

"For?"

"For your presence here with me. That means a lot."

"of course. I'm so happy." Helena smiled. But there was something strange about his smile.

One by one the witches surrounded them. The witches carried their wands and wore special armor of the witches.

"W-what is this? Helena?" ask Malvia in panic. Helena simply smiled and stepped back, aligning herself with the other witches.

"I would be happy to be here to kill you with my own hands, Malvia" Helena said. Malvia surprised. Helena betrayed. Butwhy?
