Chapter 3: I don't believe you!

"I don't believe you" said Malvia again. The umpteenth time he said that.

"I knew. That's why I'm trying to make you believe." Ethan's got a special wooden vampire stake.

"Look! You even hold that!" Malvia pointed at the stake Ethan was holding.

"Hey, this is to defend myself. You almost killed me, remember?"

"If I'm going to kill you, I just need to pluck your heart out. You, more suspicious than me. Ugh! Get me off this chain!" peekkik Malvians.

When Malvia was caught off guard, Ethan threw vervain powder into Malvia's face. Malvia screamed in pain. Seeing the opportunity, Ethan chains Malvia's legs and hands with a special chain that has been given vervain and wolfsbane.

"I'm sorry. I don't want you to attack me anymore."

Malvia grunted annoyedly. "Then what now? You're gonna hand me over to them? Huh! To save me just to hand me over to them. Waste of energy."

"I won't give you to anyone." Ethan took a chair and sat down in front of Malvia.

Malvia stared in disbelief at the man sitting in front of her. "You think I'm stupid? How can I trust the people who slaughtered my people?!"

"I never thought you were stupid."

"Just let go of me! I'll go straight away and won't kill you."

"How can I trust a vampire who almost killed me?"

Malvia grunted annoyedly. He's really upset with Ethan. He wants to leave before Ethan calls all of his friends and is executed. He won't let that happen. From the beginning he didn't want to kill Ethan. He just wanted to quench his thirst so that his body would be more powerful and then leave. But Ethan can deftly hold it.

"I know what's going on. I meani.. They ordered to kill all the vampires."

"Then why did you save me? So that you can kill me in numbers?"

"No. I'm a doctor, have you forgotten? I'm healing people not killing them."

"You're talking nonsense again." Malvia returned snorting. "Call your friends."

"Yet surrendered? Don't want to persuade me anymore?"

"No!" Malvia threw away her face.

Ethan looks at Malvia. A look of annoyance was on his face but Ethan also saw a deep sadness.

"I'll let you go. This chain, I mean. Just so you promised not to kill me."

"Don't you just say you don't trust me who almost killed you?" Malvia narrowed her eyes. He looked at Ethan suspiciously.

"I knew. But you can't get out of here."

"Hey! What the fuck? Who are you to dare to ban me?!" Malvia.

"Didn't you listen to my words? Vampires are the target of all people. You'll die if you leave. At least until you get well. I know you are holding back your pain. It's because your wounds haven't closed."

"But I'm a vampire!" peeker Malvia

"That's right. But your body is full of werewolf poison. It makes your wounds heal for a long time. If you want to leave, no problem. But it must heal first. Otherwise you'll die silly later. And the fruits of my labor saving you will be in vain."

"I'm not asking to be saved."

"indeed not. But my sense of duty as a doctor made me save you. Hey, you want it or not? Why so much of it?" Ethan stood up from his seat. He cleaned up the mess Malvia had made in the greenhouse. Malvia notices Ethan. Ethan doesn't look like an evil man, like the humans who slaughtered his people.

"No, thank you. I'm fine chained up like this." said Malvia at last. Ethan turned around and looked at Malvia in surprise.

"You sure? It seems more convenient if the chain comes off."

"No, there's no need. Better like this. Just until my wound heals."

Ethan breathed. "Well, if that's what you want."

Ethan leaves Malvia alone. Malvia also wants to be released but she is afraid that she will attack Ethan again. He's still starving. He doesn't want to make unnecessary mistakes.

"Aackh..." Malvia again felt the pain in her wound. "Should I ask you to just take it off? The huft! What do I care if that man dies anyway? They just don't care and slaughter my family. Shit!"

...***...

"How are you, Diego?" ask one of the people sitting at the very end to turn his back on the fireplace.

" Alpha report, there's no word anymore" said Diego.

"Hey, what does that mean? Speak plainly." great-grandson of one of the small men, Issac, king of the dwarves. His beard was long almost as long as his dwarf body.

"Relax Issac, I'm sure alpha Jovial will kindly explain." madam Gudytha, the leader of the witches, tried to calm down. Madam Gudytha fixed her gloves.

Everyone stared at Jovial, the alpha of the werewolves.

"He disappeared" Jovial said at last. His face was also full of worry. Everyone began to boisterously, talking to each other. Jovial hit the table three times. Everyone went back to silence.

"Then how is this?" ask King Ellard, the king of men. He looks worried.

"What do you mean how? yes let it go! He's just alone! No need to worry." said Issac with his confidence.

"Does it matter if we let it? Even though he's a vampire himself." Gudytha also looked worried.

"But he said the princess disappeared! We can't catch him" Theodore said in a heavy voice.

"My subordinate said, he was made sure he was bitten by a werewolf which means he was very weak. I don't think he's gonna live."

"You're so naive, Joval. If he did die, there should be a body! And he's not a vampire who would perish just from the sun. She's a royal princess!" Ellard shook his head.

"Alright, alright. What if we look for him again." Jovial saw Diego. "Where was the last time they fought?"

"The Anderian Forest, alpha."

"Anderias? It means territory of men. How's king Ellard? Are you going to take over the search?" ask Jovial.

"certain. I'll deploy all my troops."

"Be careful, Ellard. You are the food." Issac warned.

"You dick! You underestimated me?!"

"That's reality. You did eat it. That's what makes you weak."

"You..."

"Stop. We should not argue, at least not for now. We'll search each other's territory. Don't let your guard down."

"Yes, yes we know." Issac stood up and walked away in the company of others except Ellard and Jovial.

"I really hate him. How dare that short man look down on me." - Ellard.

"Calm down. You know how he is." Jovial calming.

"Yes and see when it's over. I'll make him regret."

"It doesn't need to be like that. Now our joint assault is over. We'll just search in each other's territory. You wouldn't have met her at least if it wasn't a meeting together. So don't waste your energy."

"What if the princess doesn't meet? What do we do?"

"Leave it. Most likely he's dead. No vampire can survive the poison of our kind."

"But what if someone helps her?"

Jovial laughs. "What idiot would want to help a vampire at a time like this? We've spread the word all over the nation, vampires must be killed. They're gonna race to kill vampires. Although there are survivors I'm sure they're hiding. They'll die if they're found."

"You seem very confident."

"Not looking confident, Ellard. But I am confident. If he's alive, what could he be? He's just alone. There's nothing left of his people."

"Maybe you're right. But we can't take any chances."

"Because it's Ellard. That's why I told you to search in each region. Now go home and start looking."

Ellard sighed. "alright, fine. I really hope you're right." he said and left.
