Pajama Party

Early in the morning, Jean sat with her legs swaying unsettled. His hands repeatedly pinched or peeling the skin of his lips.

“Jean are you okay?, go to UKS if you feel unwell!”, said the teacher who noticed Jean's pale face.

Jean stood up from her seat.

“Jean, will I drop off?”, asked Rani who whispered in the complete gesture, from her desk.

Jean waved the palm facing Rani left and right.

“Be careful!”, said Rani who was still whispering.

Jean walked to the UKS, then entered a fairly spacious UKS room, with 5 beds lined up, each of which was blocked by a curtain.

Jean lay on the bed at the very end of the entrance and tried to sleep. With his eyes still half-open, he saw the silhouette of someone walking slowly closer towards his bed. Who?, UKS teacher?, the question rang in his mind. Regardless of who it was, Jean closed her eyes which were already very heavy due to her headache.

The cold hand touched Jean's half-conscious forehead, the hand crept down to touch Jean's neck. Jean tried to open her eyes and was intending to see who it was. A tall person was seen before her. But it doesn't look like the UKS teacher he's known all along.

The man pulled up the chair that was near Jean's bed, and then sat there. Jean was still focusing her eyes, still unable to see clearly, trying to ascertain who was next to her.

“The bastards touched you?”, asked the man, who turned out to be a man.

“Should I be grateful even in the midst of this anger?”, the second question from that person made Jean even more eager to open her eyes.

Jean looked at Enver who was holding his wrist, Enver's cold skin making Jean slightly goosebumps. But Jean doesn't have enough energy to fear Enver as before.

Enver then bites Jean's wrist, Jean feels her hand being sucked by Enver who occasionally looks Jean in the eye.

Enver's left hand closed Jean's eyes, the coldness of Enver's hand made Jean's heavy eyes feel comfortable.

“Peace up and rest for a while, tomorrow the day after in the afternoon, I will pick you up at panti”, Enver's greeting heard by Jean becomes the closing sentence, and, before Jean fell into a deep sleep with a pretty comfortable feeling.

“I pudding” bread, Rani's voice sounded faint.

“Ya okay”, replied Lisa who then passed.

“You're up?”, asked Rani who entered between the curtains that were slightly open.

“So early in the morning your face is completely pale, you should not force yourself if you are sick”, Rani said as she handed a glass of water to Jean.

“I'm fine, just exhausted. You see, after sleep I have improved”, explained Jean who has indeed looked better.

“So I heard Lisa”'s voice, Jean said as she twisted her body and sat on the edge of the mattress.

“He went to canteen”, timpal Rani.

“Then yuk”, take Jean down from the bed to stand up.

“You really feel good?”, asked Rani to make sure.

“Iya, I'm fine”. Obviously Jean.

Rani and Jean walk to the cafeteria, to catch up with Lisa.

“Eh, how are you here?”, asked Lisa who passed her two friends in front of the cafeteria.

“We had lunch in the canteen just yuk”, Jean told Lisa.

“Oh, yes okay, but must be flanked this food?”, Lisa lifted a bag full of bread and other snacks.

“That snack”, said Rani who chuckled.

The three of them then queued up to take lunch, and sat down on the remaining empty seats, as their favorite spot was already filled.

Lisa sits down with Jean, while Rani sits in front of them. Lisa who was slightly stirring the rice and preparing to eat it, accidentally saw Jean's wrist wrapped in plaster which was wide enough.

“What is this?”, Lisa asked while holding Jean's hand.

“Oh, it's nothing. Just accidentally injured”, replied Jean who tried to be calm.

“Jean, you didn't do anything weird right?”. Tanya Rani is serious.

“Haah, Jean. Do you think we won't notice your change of attitude?. Especially since you've been looking for Enver. You get to daydream more often. Can't you just tell us?, so that at least we know what we have to do to help you”, Lisa revealed her unek-unnyak.

Jean was silent for a moment and then devoured her food regardless of what Lisa said.

“Jeean..”, Lisa who almost exploded was held back by Rani who held firmly Lisa's hand.

“We eat first”, said Rani trying to calm down.

The three of them then ate their food in silence. The silence in the middle of that lunch, was completely foreign to the three of them.

“Can I stay at the house of one of you?”, Jean suddenly opened her mouth. Lisa and Rani look at each other without speaking.

“You said you wanted to help me. Did I misinterpret your words?”, Jean continued looking at Lisa.

“Yes!, let's have a pajama party at my house tonight”, Rani said loudly breaking the silence.

Jean and Lisa continued their lunch.

After school Jean and Rani sit in Rani's pickup car. Rani's mother, who was driving the car, asked Jean many things along the way, with the intention of familiarizing herself with her son's friends. Amidst the chatter of Mother Rani and Jean, Rani just fell silent daydreaming. It did not feel like he had arrived at Rani's house.

The night has come, Rani and Jean sleep next to each other on Rani's bed which is wide enough.

“You are very annoying”, said rani suddenly in the middle of silence.

“Yes, you are right”, Jean replied after a moment of silence.

“At least apologize tomorrow to Lisa, she might feel unappreciated because you didn't respond to her scolding”, explained Rani who turned her back to Jean.

“Rani!!, Your friend is coming!”, shouted Rani's mother as she knocked on Rani's room.

Rani opens the door.

“You came?”, asked Rani.

“Yes, you said we'd have a pajama” party, replied Lisa who came quite late.

“What's this, time at the pajama party at this hour already want to sleep”, lamented Lisa when she saw Jean who was lying on her back to Rani and Lisa.

“Didn't we watch at least one movie?, look now it's only 9pm!”, said Lisa who threw her body into the mattress, which made Jean's body move.

Lisa sits on her back to Jean on the edge of the bed, while Rani picks up the Laptop from her desk.

“You watch what?”, ask Rani to Lisa.

“Hmm, What film is good huh?” ask Lisa while thinking.

Rani and Lisa chat, looking for a good movie they can watch regardless of Jean still lying on their backs.

“Vampire!”, said Jean who made Rani and Lisa who were seriously looking for a film silent for a moment.

“For what to listen to recommendations from people who do not intend to watch!”, said Lisa a little ketus.

Jean watched the two friends.

“Kak Enver is a vampire”, Jean's absurd remarks make her two friends speechless.

“From trying to melt the atmosphere between us, with such absurd talk, shouldn't you be trying to apologize to me?”, explained Lisa who was a bit upset.

Jean crawls up to her friend, and sits sneaking between Rani and Lisa. Jean shows her hand wrapped in plaster, which makes her two friends unconsciously towards Jean's hand.

“I never put a plaster in my hand, this is what Enver” did, Jean said.

“What does.” mean, Rani who wants to ask what the meaning of Jean's words is silent when Jean opens the plaster from her hand. Two holes of bite marks that are still red are clearly plastered there. Unlike the snake bite marks, between the two bite marks there are bruises like tooth bite marks.

Rani and Lisa are silent, “why?, what is this?”, Lisa talking while touching Jean's wrist making sure that it's not a tattoo. Lisa, who realized that the bite marks were real, made herself forget her regret instantly.

Jean then recounted everything she experienced from the events of the party night, to what happened in the UKS this morning, including the circumstances in the orphanage. Lisa and Rani, who heard what Jean told them, tried several times to understand things that were a bit strange to them. That night they stayed up, even after Jean had finished explaining everything. The three of them lay lined up on the mattress, supine and staring at the ceiling of the room, immersed in their respective thoughts.
