Chapter 2 Responsibility

In front of the Emergency Installation room, Melody paced around with an anxious and fearful face at once. Fear of being asked for compensation.

“Sister Jamie must have told people that I made his son go to the hospital,” muttered the woman.

Her fear of being answered, Jamie comes following her to the hospital with her mother. Her mother's angry face was clearly aimed at Melody. Jamie who came first ignored the surroundings and went straight into the IGD room.

Seen his son lying limp, Jamie rubbed Daniel's head. The doctor explained how severe the condition of the only son of his puppet, due to the treatment obtained by Daniel very late, the disease in his body was already severe.

“Bapak need not worry. Treatment should keep going, and the father hopefully strong and can be cured.”

Jamie lowered his gaze down, thinking of Daniel's apprehensive condition. He was not at all amused by what the doctor said at the end of his words.

“Oh, and also tell Nak Melody. It's not her fault, Nak Melody constantly blames herself for giving Daniel ice cream.” Added Mr. Doctor.

The sound of a slap rang out there, Jamie who heard it immediately rushed out to check what was happening. Jamie just remembered Melody was out with her mom.

There Melody glazed over holding her reddened cheeks.

“Mama slap him?” ask Jamie.

“Those girls, Mama's favorite granddaughter is in the hospital! You are his father! Aren't you angry?” The mother pointed at Melody with her hands.

Melody apologized while lowering her head, supporting the assumption of Lena, the woman who gave birth to Jamie.

“Tuh, look!” timpal Lena's.

The mother and son finally argued, Melody felt like she was just a bully. Even being there, he realized he would not be able to take responsibility. Jamie calls Melody who walks away, but is ignored.

“So Mama was wrong, because she was wrong?” Lena continued their discussion.

“Mama is always looking for her mistakes, so that everyone hates her. Because Mama never liked Melody!”

The man goes after Melody, her abandoned mother getting irritated. Jamie ran out of the hospital, looking as if Melody was standing by the side of the road. Jamie immediately approached him.

“Mel ..” Jamie's unfinished words, truncated.

“So Jamie don't have to worry I'll take responsibility. But if Jamie wants cash, I can't right now. I'm going to Jamie's house if I get a loan from the bank. It also seems like nothing much. So ...”

“Sssstt!” The man's index finger held Melody's lips as her chattering continued to flow like an open tap

Jamie invites him to sit on the bench to talk for a while, explaining Daniel's circumstances. And the cause of Daniel's relapse is no one's fault. The woman had heard from the Doctor, but Melody still could not get rid of her guilt.

“Daniel turned out not to have breakfast when I gave eskrim,” he said.

The man was speechless, and Melody became even more shocked when she heard Daniel had the disease. Suddenly seething in his mind about the words of the person in the wedding.

“Kak, said Brother Emily is not there. How about I babysit Daniel for a while?” ask Melody.

A few weeks ago Daniel did make a tantrum and his nanny did not want to babysit him anymore. Jamie has to work. And Melody has long been unemployed, her work only accepts orders of duty jockeys whose income is unreliable for daily needs.

“You're unemployed again? You need a job?” Jamie was confused.

Melody nodded and smiled confirming.

“The salary is not much. If you need a job, I can contact my friends who have connections in several companies.”

Jamie feels bad if he hires a child who he thinks is still fairly young to be a nanny. She could have given Melody a much better job than a nanny.

Obviously Melody was tempted by his offer, why not ask Jamie about the job. Remember Jamie is a famous architect who always gets clients from big companies.

Because from a long time ago, Melody had often nurtured and played with Daniel while still Glenn's girlfriend, making Melody as his nanny was not a bad decision.

The man turned his face away.

“Congratulations. You passed the interview, Melody Robinson,”.

Jamie continues in my heart. “I also don't need a long-term nanny, Melody doesn't even have to bother spending time to adapt. Just until Emily comes back.”

“Yeay!” Melody cheered happily.

It was still dark, Melody had already entered the kitchen area. He made sandwiches with potluck ingredients. From last night Daniel continued to fill his head, he still did not expect that small child had fallen on the stairs anyway. Why are mothers gossiping so loudly at events related to their families? How does Jamie feel about attending his sister's own party surrounded by heartless guests? The questions kept turning in his head.

Felicia who was half asleep, woke up, was about to go to the bathroom. When passing through the kitchen, his eyes glared astonished to see his brother was already standing in the kitchen in the morning blind.

“Kakak what? Not sleeping yet?” lirih Felicia's. His eyes are back narrow

“Sleep,” says Melody, “I told you, today started work.”

Felicia continued into the bathtub rubbing her eyes with the tip of her sleeve. After the shower, she placed herself next to her sister.

“So sure you won't see Glenn there?” Felicia chirps while taking the plate for the sandwich Melody made.

Consider Melody, “if she has not signed me again, she said she will connect company orders to enter me there.” Melody diverted the conversation.

“Keeeren.” Felicia flat.

The apartment building in which he works is towering, not an ordinary apartment. Melody stepped her foot inside, breathing the AC she hadn't felt in a long time since she graduated from college.

Jamie's door opened after Melody knocked him several times. Melody looked down politely, seen the shoes on Jamie's feet are still attached next door and not tied. Apparently he's still tying his shoelaces.

The lens in his glasses looks shiny. Jamie's sideways, there's a banderole still hooked up on his glasses trunk.

“New apocalypse, Brother Jamie?” melody suddenly said.

Jamie turned to him by raising his eyebrows next door. “Know where he is?” he said in his heart.

“His Bandrol is still plugged in,” Melody said, as if she could read the minds of the people in front of her.

The man had a “Hah” expression on his face. Then he turned his back to Melody and opened his glasses. He muttered, “oh yes.”

Melody pouted, what a pity, she was curious about her face without glasses.

The preparation for work is ready. Not forgetting as a father, Jamie approached his son who was still asleep. One kiss landed on Daniel's wide forehead. He says goodbye to Melody afterwards.

“I do not mean to be grateful for the disease that befell Daniel. But, thank you boy! Thanks to you ..” Reveal it to yourself in your heart.

Two hours have passed, Daniel still has not come out of his cage. The little boy did sleep a long time, but for this one Melody was restless. He grabbed the door and tried to open it.

“Locked?” he murmured, the door could not be opened when his father could enter.

“Dany?” melody said, sticking her earlobes to the door.

There's no answer. But it can be concluded that Daniel did not want to be approached by him.
