My Own Path: The Red Phoenix
Ch 23 – Searching for Guidance

Hearing Tanhill's direct words made Ashura caught in shock not ready to know her suspicions turned out to be true.

“And if the place is as you describe it I can confirm that these Goblins have gone through a fight and they are flocking in a number that is not a bit”

“But why do I not find what – is there, other than the battle trail and of course green liquid like this scattered where – where?” Ashura was still confused.

“Goblin is a cruel creature, maybe you also heard the story a few years ago,” Tanhill saw Ashura nod.

“Goblin was always doing his attacks frontally, for them hit by a few scratches did not make them tremble, even when their blood dripped out many Goblin still have high Vitality to bring down his opponent.”

“With strong determination and fearless nature often the opponents faced by these Goblins feel depressed and afraid to then give up unconditionally”

“From what you've told me, I suspect that these Goblins are hunting some Wild Beasts for their food, it's clear that they haven't attacked humans yet, because if that happens maybe the news has long been heard” Tanhill concluded.

“Mr Tanhill, is indeed a Goblin as strong as you say?”

“If referring to vitality, it is clear that we as humans will definitely lose to them, but Goblins also exist with their weaknesses, as long as we can directly slash their necks then Goblins will instantly die, but of course speaking may sound easy but the execution is not as easy as it”

“I understand sir, if they are easy to deal with they will not be monsters that once made a mess first,” Ashura agree with Tanhill “Then should what I do now mister?”

“I don't know, maybe you should report it to the adventurer guild, or maybe directly to the city lord of Red Flower City, whatever it is as long as you move fast we might be able to prepare everything”

“Yes you're right sir, hmm may I ask, why do you so calm to know that the Goblins are out there lurking, maybe even in a moment they will attack us lord” Ashura a little suspicious with Tanhill's indifferent attitude.

“What reaction do you expect from me?” Tanhill chuckled – shakes his head, “Although you know I am a capable Alchemist, but I am still an Alchemist, in front of you battle maniacs what I can do, what I can do, therefore rather than panic, I would rather use my knowledge to get out of a situation like this”

“May I know what you think to get out of their threat sir?” Ashura asked curiously.

“Hmm simply, if things change as I just said, maybe going to visit Jotunheim and taking refuge there is the best option.” With a sinless face Tanhill revealed his plan.

Ashura was shocked to drop herself while muttering ‘what knowledge, all you did was run away from the problem and seek protection’

“Well as I said, I am an Alchemist not a fighter, I can not do what – what is in the front row, my presence will only be a burden for you guys, I can not do anything, so you're the only one who prepares and fights against these Goblins”

“You are right sir, then I will resign to immediately report this to the adventurer guild” Ashura took back the jade bottle on the table and stood about to leave before Tanhill prevented Ashura's departure.

“Eh wait a minute Shura, do not rush –, after all it is still afternoon there are still many things we need to talk about, for the problems of the Goblins, after all, waiting one day will not be a problem for us” Tanhill smiled full of mystery.

‘It's not you yourself who said that we should move quickly to report this, to prepare for the worst case scenario, then why are you holding me here now?’ Ashura muttered in her heart, but then sat back down without even a hint of speaking.

“Because your question has been answered, now it is my turn to seek your help,” Tanhill smiled.

“May I know what you need from me sir?”

“What do you think about that kid?”

“Claude? In posture for a child of his age is very good, the realm he has is also not low, in addition, making him take Job as Rogue is also not a problem considering the child's innate Shadow Spirit is also very suitable when playing with Archery and Assassin”

“Seeing from the innate, the child is not bad if given proper training the child might be able to become a top adventurer someday, he said, but for now because I don't know his ability I can't judge him.” Ashura objectively shared her assessment.

“For the child's archery ability it's not bad, I know because I've seen him hunt Wild Rabbits in the woods so many times, for a kid of his age I can say that that kid is the best in Behemoth City in terms of archery.”

“Unfortunately it's only in Behemoth City” Ashura smilingly shook her head.

As it is known that there are 12 kingdoms under the auspices of the empire and many cities under these twelve kingdoms, it is certain that in each city there is also a talent like Claude, Claude, it was not even impossible to surpass Claude.

As Ashura had traveled to various cities around the Red Phoenix Empire, it made Ashura not too shocked when she saw the talent Claude had.

Claude was good, but only good, not very good or the best, so Ashura just smiled when he heard some words from Tanhill.

“No need for you to be clear I also know” Tanhill face flushed.

“I want you to be an instructor for the boy, training him to master Shadow Spirit as well as how to use Dagger as an Assassin instead of as a cook” Tanhill replied lightly.

“But I have ..” Ashura intends to reject Tanhill's request, but his remarks are immediately cut off by Tanhill.

“You should not be too quick to reject it, although I do not know what the art of battle is, but I know that the boy has something different, he said, his learning ability is above average – even more stubborn nature when you want to learn something to be added value for him”

“As an Alchemist, I want to get a capable disciple like him, but what power the boy has is too stone to know the art of concocting pill”

“And as his uncle I want to encourage and facilitate the boy to do what he wants, as well as provide the best resources for his development”

“Based on the observations I made, that kid has potential in Job Rogue with a unique specialty, do you think who in Red Phoenix Empire has Job Rogue on the basis of Archery and Assassin? I know the answer is no”

Hearing Tanhill's remark, Ashura pondered for a while before then nodding her head, at least Ashura had yet to find a Rogue with a specialty in Archery and Assassin.

Indeed as Tanhill had told Claude, most adventurers with Job Rogue always used swords or spears and Magic as their combination.

Why is this happening?.

The reason is simple, because Magic is easy to use, with only the neatness and life energy of a Magic can be created even though its power is slightly less than using a magic wand but the gap can be covered with the realm it belongs to.

Magic as a long-range attack and a sword or spear as a close-range attack.

Again a question arises as to why the Dagger does not exist, and why should the sword and spear?

Because the sword and spear had a great impact attack compared to the Dagger, so even though the difficulty level of his mastery was quite high many Rogue chose between the two.

For Dagger, at first glance it is easy to use it, but in reality there are some requirements that must be met when playing with Dagger, namely speed, timing, execution, and of course innate talent.

As for Archery, the fact that the difficulty level of his mastery became the highest had already reduced the interest of these Rogue.

But not nothing at all, even in the guard there is always an army of Archers in it, as well as the Assassin, as well as adventurers, adventurers, not a few also specialized in Archery and Assassin.

Their numbers were even with the Mages, Swordmen, Shield Warriors as well as Berserkers, but to become a Rogue, even they refused to give it a try.

Actually the theory of Rogue with Archery and Assassin specialization has been discussed a lot, this theory states that Rogue with this specialization can bring out the true potential of a Rogue.

This statement is reinforced by the fact that Archery attacks are sharper with a longer range compared to Magic, as well as the speed and flexibility of the Dagger can suppress the sword and spear users when they clash in a balanced realm.

But because the conditions that require mastering two weapons at once make the Rogue or adventurers stop trying it, after all the theory is only a theory, without any real evidence of success, – people do not want to try it.

For Claude's case, since he already had Archery as his main foundation Tanhill wanted to encourage Claude to prove his theory, plus Claude's innate Martial Spirit, Tanhill believed Claude was capable of mastering both.

“Not everyone can be an Assassin so very few Assassins are reliable,” Tanhill praised Ashura, “Therefore, I did not find an Assassin reliable enough other than you to guide the boy”

“This ..” Ashura fell on contemplation.

“Upload this, as payment for my previous help, what do you think?”

“Ah but, I promise to help you ..”

“And this is what I want to do, you help me train that boy” Tanhill keeps cutting Ashura's words.

“Hmm well then, I will try it” In the end Ashura agreed to Tanhill's request.

“Good.” Tanhill relieved “Hey son, want to see when you eavesdrop there,? I already praised your – praise in front of your new instructor, just be careful if you're not serious about practicing” Tanhill glancing towards the door.

A moment later the door opened, Claude came in smiling awkwardly greeting his new instructor “Thank you uncle would teach me, I will never be negligent or leha – leha, I will never forget, I will train really - really” Claude said with determination.

‘This child, since when did he eavesdrop behind the door? Why can't I feel the air of his being’ Ashura falls in confusion.
