Aiden's Request

“Maybe we should get divorced, Zura.” Aiden said.

Instantly, Zura's thin smile faded. The girl quickly tried to master her facial expression.

“Can you explain the reason to me, Aiden?”

Aiden's eyes returned to the mirror. Hearing his name called made Aiden increasingly feel the stifling warmth. Zura continued to say his name, calling out to him, as if they were not talking about some strange matter. Moreover, the girl in front of him asked in a calm low voice. In fact, Aiden knew Zura's feelings must also be raging. Zura was a tough and determined woman, yet she was still a human.

“You no longer have promise debt, Zura. You've kept your uncle's promise to get married. Bad news and rumors about your abortion and infidelity have also been cleared. Our marriage is also unknown to the public. If we get divorced once, there won't be any problems. There is no point in maintaining this marriage.” Aiden said.

Zura looked at Aiden with nanar, her eyes glazed over, as Aiden's eyes looked red. But the woman tried to remain calm against Aiden. Guilt. And a sense of failure. The two feelings have haunted Aiden and kept the man down. His heart was muddled between defending and releasing Zura. Well, when he started thinking about apologizing and defending Zura, two nights ago happened. How could Aiden look at Zura's face now? He even felt himself very ugly.

Since the first covenant, Zura has made it clear that he will not accept betrayal.

Zura swallowed. He had no idea that Aiden would say this. And when he saw Zura showing that puzzled face, Aiden again tightened his hand, making Zura look at the man.

Now Zura's tears are flowing again. The girl's cry was silent, yet her body seemed to shake violently. Aiden forced himself to sit down. Although his head was pounding with pain, or his body felt very heavy, Aiden tried to survive. Seeing the crying Zura was much more painful for her. Slowly, Aiden grabbed onto Zura's body gently, rubbing the girl's back.

It was not an apology for Zura to stay with him. That's an apology and a farewell. Aiden will release Zura. He knew, among all the people in this world, he might be the one who was the most unworthy to be on Zura's side.

Time passed slowly, with Zura's tears slowly also eroding. The girl had cried for quite a long time in Aiden's embrace. Zura pushed Aiden's shoulder slowly when the situation had calmed down. Gently, the man wiped away the trace of crying that still seemed to be drenching Zura's cheeks.

Only then did Zura raise his face, looking at Aiden. There was no trace of blushing in the girl's face. Aiden simply returned the gaze with the same bead. If faced with Zura, he would not be able to guess what would happen next. This time it's the same. His heart was bewitched to the ground, and the girl in front of him was still with a face full of calmness.

“What does all that mean? My husband cheated on me, and asked me for a divorce.”
