Tomorrow at about ten o'clock in the morning, Kahyru was already preparing to leave. Two suitcases filled with his belongings. The sling bag he sipped on his shoulder. Along the way accompanied by his adoptive parents who did not stop crying. The mother's hand remained coiled on Khayru's arm. While Mr. Zul who sat in front with the driver, did not make his voice. Secretly his jaw hardened as it held deep sadness.
“Mang Sodik, we stopped by Maula's school briefly, yes. I want to meet him first before going to the Airport,” pinta Khayru.
“Good, Mr.”
Upon learning of Khayru's arrival, Maula insists on refusing to meet him. She ran to the toilet to hide and cried there. Finally, Khayru just sent a farewell greeting through her parents.
“Ru, papa tried hard not to cry about your departure, because hope someday you will return, but at this time papa does not want to be a barrier you to meet your own biological father, he said, although this is actually heavy for papa. Take care of your father, take care of him until he recovers. Say a thousand apologies from papa,” he said while hugging Khayru at the entrance of Soetta airport.
“When you get there, someone will wait at the airport. He will take you to your destination. After arriving at your father's place, show me this thing.” Mr. Zul handed over one thing that would become Khayru's identity - a bracelet he wore as a child.
“Khayru nodded. “Good, Pa. Thank you so much for everything. Iru won't forget all your kindness.”
Tears that are difficult to stem since yesterday afternoon, have not stopped flowing from the eyes of a mother. She wasn't as strong as her husband when she let Khayru go. Since then, his health has deteriorated.
Every time he sat at the table, no food came into his mouth. He only looked at the chair in front of him that was always empty.
“Mama don't eat anymore?” mula asked a little annoyed.
“Mama is not hungry yet, dear.” The mother kept smiling.
“Mama thought, Mama's son with Papa it's just him? Why never consider Maula here? Why on your mind are there only ungrateful adopted children?”
“Maula! It's not appropriate for you to talk like that in front of an old man! Your mother is sick, try to understand.” Banging Mr. Zul made Maula even more furious. He ran to his room because he was bored with the attitude of his parents who loved Khayru too much than him. Even when the guy's not here anymore.
“Maula! Wait mama, dear.” Maulida got up from her chair but she suddenly fell and was taken to the hospital. Stomach disease that suffered for years, the longer the chronic. He should get special treatment in the hospital.”
“Ma, sorry Maula, yes, Ma. Mama needs to heal quickly. We need to get home as soon as possible. My lonely mother at home, Ma.”
“Wherever mama is, always doain mama yes, dear. Mama's going home tomorrow. Please don't be angry again mama.”
“No, Ma. Maula is no longer angry with Mama, Maula promised. Maula darling same Mama.” The nine-year-old girl hugged her mother who was lying weakly in a hospital room.
She came home with a slightly comforted heart. At least her mother said she would be home tomorrow.
Until the next day, after school he went straight to the hospital. How happy he is to be home with his mother this afternoon.
“The weather today is very sunny, yes, Non. Just like the face of Non Maula. Cheerier than usual,” said Mang Sodik when stopping the car in the hospital parking lot.
“Iya, Mang, because Mama wants to go home today. Later please call Papa, yes, Mang, let him come straight here.” Maula got out of her car straight to the room where her mother was being treated.
“Maamaa island ... Maamaa pulaang ..” He sang merrily while jumping down the hospital corridor, then opened the door after he got there.
“Assalamualaikum, Mom, babe.” He saw his mother was not ready. It even looks like you are sleeping well. “He said he wanted to go home, it was still bobo. Yes already, I wait until papa comes, deh,” he said while sitting by the bed.
He touched her mother's cold hand, then covered her. “A-hold. Mama definitely needs a lot of blankets.” Maula pressed a button connected to the nurse to ask for additional blankets. Shortly, the nurse arrived.
“Ade who earlier asked for a blanket, ‘kan?”
The nurse immediately approached to check on Madam Maula who was asleep. Suddenly he panicked and called the doctor in charge. The doctor came quickly and checked. He shook his head while biting his lips.
“Innalillahi wa innailaihi rooji’un.” He pulled a blanket to cover the head and the entire body of Mrs Maulida. “Record the time of death then contact the patient's family,” the doctor told the nurse.
“No! Don't close my mama's face! He will have trouble breathing, later.” Maula pulled back the blanket and kissed her mother's stiff face. “Ma! You can still breathe, Mom. Mama wake up first, Ma. We go home now, Ma, let's get ready first.”
The nurse tried to pull Maula's body. “Adek, let's call Papa first outside, yu, sister temenin.”
Mr. Zul came in a hurry after receiving news from the hospital. “Ma! Mama!” He kissed the face of his wife who was pale.
“Pa, Wake up Mom, Pa. We go home now.”
Mr. Zul hugged his confused-looking son's head. Tears are like rain falling down.
“Papa why cry, Pa? Why didn't you wake up from earlier?”
The father took the girl into his lap. “Mama's home first, baby. He wants to rest quietly on God's side.”Mr. Zul took his breath while holding back the sobbing. A wife who had always accompanied him in joy and sorrow, had now passed away.
“Ma! Mama ...! Maula come, Ma! Don't stay in Maula.” He thrashed in the lap of his father. While the body of the mother was taken to be bathed and pardoned.
Maula did not stop crying to her mother.
“Do not! Don't bury me, my mama. Mama is alive. Mama couldn't have left me, Pa. Mama promised to go home today.”
“Yes, dear, but Mama has gone home to another, more beautiful place. Ikhlaskan Mama, because there is still papa here, you do not fear.”
“No! Maula wants Mama. I don't want to split with Mama. Bring Mama here right now, Pa, hurry!”
Kyai Abdurrahman, who had just finished his funeral, brought a glass of water to Maula. “Show this water on Maula, Mr. Zul, so it is calmer,” he said.
Kyai Abdurrahman is a Murobbi² who has been consulted by Mr. Zul since he was young. He always helped Zul especially in spiritual matters.
