Why are there so many Javanese tribes in Jambi? That is a lot of questions for people who know little about the story of massive transmigration in the new order era.
Not only in Jambi, Javanese tribes spread almost evenly throughout Indonesia. No need to bother having to move to Java to be able to speak fluent Java. Neighboring for decades with any tribe we must understand a little bit more with the language of the neighbors of different tribes.
It is one of the perks of living in a maritime country that has 718 regional languages. The language of the region is one of the wealth of the country that we should be proud of.
Just imagine, if we meet an American citizen on the way, for those of us who understand English we will easily understand what they are saying.
While the Americans, will not understand if we talk about them in Javanese, even though they master Indonesian fluently. But of course talking about others is not good in any language, especially in front of people.
Since arriving at his house a moment ago, Winarsih was amazed by the appearance of his house that was completely different. He no longer saw the door of his house consisting only of a sheet of board and patched here and there to cover the hole.
Bu Sumi's house is now no longer walled and roofed with perforated zinc. The house now has a modern minimalist design. With its predominantly white paint, the house is set sweetly and uniquely next to a neighboring kale field and chili fields.
The legacy of Pak Padmo is not wide, only about 9 meters but extends backward. The house was not fenced because Ms. Sumi always said she did not want her house to be impressed covered by being given an iron fence.
The residents of Beringin Village all still use groundwater to meet their daily needs.
For those who have enough money to use electricity, the house must have been equipped with a simple water pump to drain water from the well. As for those who are trying to save electricity, drawing or pumping water manually is the only way.
"You say the same mom don't use Javanese I don't understand, and I don't know" Dean whispered as they sat at the dinner table.
"Yes that was just an expression that if the mother was missing, did not meet her grandson since birth, just that," replied Winarsih.
"But the one who talked to you earlier, I have a horror at the words that I understand," said Dean.
"That's the feeling, nothing. Let's eat, then the rice even really cold hunt. Abis was resting first in the room," said Winarsih spooning the side dish to her husband's plate.
"Where's our room Win? Not sound?" dean asked slowly to glance at Bu Sumi who was still moving vegetables from the top of the pot to a bowl in her hand.
"Surely soundproof. The room is top. Not going to be horrified even though Mr. Dirja his sigh was loud," said Winarsih laughing.
"Husss, you're coming home to your village so much more courage" Dean smiled.
"The end of what was thought was first," replied Winarsih.
"Let me stay. If all business is safe, I'll be at home." Dean chuckled at the pair of cutlery Winarsih had placed nearby.
"Mom, is that why you're drinking water from a dispenser? Who bought the refill?" asked Winarsih to Bu Sumi who had been sitting on one of the chairs.
"That's buying refills that have brands, usually not. Kasian same father Dirja if drinking well water," said Bu Sumi.
"Kok kasian why? Cooked well water until the same time. Equally water. Who's that buying the refills? Mini market is far at the end of there," said Winarsih.
"Sir De bought it. Yes, you're a carry? If you don't want to drink that, you already have. I bought it for his father Dirja really," replied Sumi.
"Denger tuh, for his father Dirja. Not for his mother. Yea, have ye also eaten, let my son nyusu. He had no drink from before. You eat a lot, let your son another one in the belly is also healthy." Dean brought the empty plate to his wife's front.
"Another son of a belly? You mean you're pregnant again, Win? Dirja's gonna have a dick?" mum Sumi asked a little surprised at Dean's words.
"Yes Ma'am," replied Winarsih softly while grimacing.
"Well, so it's breastfeeding Dirja not cramping? how many months has it been?" ask Sumi.
"It's been a month. No cramping in his stomach, Dirja can still nyusu ordinary kayak," replied Winarsih.
"No motion sickness or nausea?" ask Sumi again.
"Nothing, not yet. Yesterday pregnant Dirja also not drunk badly, just sensitive as the smell alone."
"If you're not drunk, your child can be a lot. Not kapok because of that. It's like Mia, Mr. De's son. Pregnant with fourth child. Pregnancy is good not to use cravings. In fact, he can go to the rice field as usual," said Bu Sumi began to spoon the rice to Yanto's plate and fill the Dirja Babysitter plate that still holds the baby boy.
"If Winarsih does not mind, I really want more than two children. Let the house be crowded" Dean added.
"No, it's okay. How much does Dirja want his father? Later if this one is born, we will soon produce again." Winarsih laughed in response to her husband's words.
Under the table, Dean's left hand stroked Winarsih's thigh and stayed for a long time near her sensitive area. Winarsih had to shift her husband's naughty hands repeatedly so that the concentration of her chatter with Sumi was not disturbed.
"This village has many Javanese tribes huh Bu? Though Jambi setau I dominant Malay and many Minang tribes. I have a friend of the Jambi people, if you talk more thick like the Minang tribe." Dean, who was about to finish eating, started a warm conversation with his mother-in-law that he rarely met.
"This village is a transmigration village. His grandfather Winarsih, from next door to his mother and father, were both transmigrants. My mother was born in Solo, she is still a child living in Solo. But the PKI rebellion of that time, made a tremendous mess. Many families separated and went into a massive transmigration. It used to be that the mother's family lived on Honggowongso street or south of the flower market. It was just across from the PKI headquarters. Even though I was a child, I remember how to live in those days." Sumi looked at Dean's astonished face.
"So all who live in this village, there are still many who have family relations?" ask Dean.
Not even an hour before sitting in the half-open dining room and plus the fan that was still busy spinning, Dean's forehead had been filled with sweat points.
"Finished eating to the room first Win, rest. Let his Babysitter Dirja also rest in the lower room. That's Mr. Dirja already dry," said Bu Sumi chuckled.
Dean's flawless white face had blushed in an instant like it had just come out of a sauna. When he heard his mother-in-law's words, Dean was just grinning. He could not wait to break himself.
"Bak eat now, dirja I bathe. Where's Banyu's gege, ma'am?" ask Winarsih.
"It's in the bathroom outside." Ms. Sumi pointed to their kitchen which now has a small terrace.
"Huh??! Is there a bathroom outside? Wasn't it all in the dalem yesterday? You know, Ryan, but there's no bathroom outside." Dean was a little overwhelmed by the news about the bathroom that was still outside.
"Bathroom above there is a kok, in the house also there. This is the mother who wanted it yesterday. There is no bathroom outside. I like, can wash the crops in the back. There's no need to go to the bathroom" Ms. Sumi replied calming her daughter-in-law who looked a little panicked.
"Oohhhhhh..." Dean looked relieved to sigh. "You don't bathe there anymore, even if you wear those rags. No way," exclaimed Dean who was now standing at the kitchen door observing his wife who was crouching in front of a bucket of warm water.
"Pake with Win!" exclaiming Bu Sumi approached Winarsih thrust a small stool into her son's leg.
Dean stood at the kitchen door facing the backyard where Winarsih and Ms Sumi were bathing Dirja using banyu gege.
"What is the water dragon, ma'am?" dean asked, still curious about what her mother-in-law did.
"Banyu gege, according to Winar, can make the baby's body immune, healthy, mighty and rarely sick. Winar used to often sing if bathing Winar use banyu gege. Adus banyu gege, sawane nerve cross, gari gekis gedhene-continued to forget." Sumi laughed, realizing that she had just sung in front of Dean.
After bathing Dirja directly wrapped Ms. Sumi with a towel. The plump baby boy wriggled cutely inside his towel. His white cheeks and black hair that is increasingly thick makes anyone must be anxious when petting him.
"I'm the one who brought it over Mom" Dean said, stretching out his arms to greet the baby.
"Where's the Mom?" ask Winarsih.
"It has been lifted earlier with Yanto to your room," replied Ms. Sumi.
"Where is the restaurant now?"
"Most to Mr. De's house. Tomorrow will be the Win harvest, so early in the morning must cook. I told you yesterday. Maybe you forgot" said Sumi.
"You want to cook for the creeps (Labour the harvest under people) Ma'am?" ask Winarsih.
"Yes, tomorrow they're all Mbawon. Harvest the results of the rice fields Mr. Dirja," said Bu Sumi smiling.
(Mbawon: The system of sharing crops to workers because usually those who help harvest rice do not want to be paid money)
"Mom's rice field, Dean's rice field." Dean laughed at his mother-in-law's words.
"Yes, tomorrow Winar help cook. It's gonna go up first nyuin dirja." Winarsih then followed Dean's footsteps towards the stairs located in the dining room.
Dirja who seems so tired and feel refreshed after bathing, it only takes less than 20 minutes to suckle to sleep.
The baby boy had been sleeping with his mouth half agape due to the satiety and comfort. Seeing that the baby was sleeping well, Dean, who was wearing a towel, prepared to take a bath, grabbed the baby to put it in a simple baby box.
"Ryan was amazing to order something. The baby box is safe and the room has a bathroom in the dalem. You don't have a towel outside the room." Dean patted his wriggling baby's thighs.
"Yuk Win,"
"Where are you?"
"Kiss,"
"There shower. From earlier use a towel do not bathe," sergeant Winarsih.
"Let's take a shower, I want to be kissed first" Dean laughed.
"Here I kiss." Winarsih pulled Dean's arm down and cupped her husband's face with both hands.
Winarsih kissed her husband's lips gently and Dean sighed softly for enjoying his wife's kiss.
"Udah" Winarsih said as she removed her husband's face.
"That kiss, this one's left." Dean took off his towel until it fell to the floor.
