Love is Noiseless

Love is Noiseless
Chapter 40's

Layla stood in a room, she looked at each side. Five women were busy working there. Layla watched closely all their activities. Some are copying data from a ledger. Someone was busy tidying up the pile of documents. Some read the letter and two others were holding up two large boxes. Layla was very familiar with the room, but she did not know the people who worked at all.

Then suddenly from behind came a thick smoke. A woman yells at another woman, “ada who set fire to our place, Buk.”

“The fire is growing! quickly out ...” shouted another woman.

They all cried out in fear as the smoke grew thicker. Everyone ran to the door in front. The door that was about to open was locked. Others tried to open the door, while a woman checked all the windows. Also, the window was like in a crossbar from outside, they were locked in there, while the fire was already creeping towards them. Burn everything there. Tables, cabinets, papers and documents burned, making the fire quickly grow.

Layla's goosebumps notice it all. They all cried out hysterically, the flames from behind had already reached the front. Big and smoothed all the furniture. One by one the women fell down as smoke filled their chests. Layla sat down, she was crying, her body was warming up.

“This where? what's the matter?” I just don't understand what happened.

A large cupboard collapsed, hitting the women who had fainted. Slowly burning their clothes and skin. Layla gulped, watched it all with fear and cried hysterically, she sat helplessly.

“What happened here? anyone help us!!” scream Layla.

Then out of nowhere, Layla sees Dinan trying to help a woman. Dinan tried to lift the cupboard that hit the woman's body. But it could not, the wood was already burning, hot and Dinan had trouble finding a handle to lift it. Layla noticed it all with a puzzled face, why was Dinan suddenly there?

The woman was conscious, she looked at Dinan and shook her head. They seemed to be talking to each other, but Layla did not hear them. The woman then pointed to Layla. Layla was shocked. The woman's face looked weakly at Dinan, the man nodded in understanding.

Dinan then stood up and approached Layla. “Come out,” he said while helping Layla stand up and hire Layla to save herself from there.

Surprisingly, the door that could not be opened by the women, can be opened easily by Dinan. They can save themselves easily. Just a few feet away from the burning place, Layla saw herself as a three-year-old standing glued to the fire. He stood up with tears in fear. Little Layla then ran crying, afraid to see the growing fire.

“He, wake! get up ... Layla! wakeup!”

Layla opened her eyes, she gasped and saw Dinan's face very close to her.

“Why you? nightmares?” ask Dinan to make sure.

Layla shook her head, she felt her body drenched in sweat. Dinan touched Layla's forehead.

“Hot once, you can have a fever night-night gini?” ask Dinan again. Layla did not answer, she still felt fear. “Your face is also pale, do we need to go to the hospital now?”

Layla then sat shaking her head, “I'm fine, sir.”

Dinan exhaled a rough breath. He then left the room, leaving Layla with a breath as if she had just run away. The girl rubbed her neck, drenched in sweat. He then removed the blanket, remembering that he had not changed at all since returning from Mr. Marc's home.

After a while, Dinan went back into the room. The man brought Layla a glass of water and a bowl of warm water with a small towel. He gives Layla a fever cure that she keeps in the nightstand.

“Drink this fever medicine first, let's eat it,” said Dinan, he then rubbed Layla's sweat on the face and neck with a tissue. “What dream did you have?” dinan asked Layla who was drinking.

“Ngak, Sir. I don't dream anything,” to Layla, he put a glass in the nightstand.

Dinan then helped Layla lie down and compressed Layla with the warm water she had taken. The man looked anxious due to Layla's sudden state of thugs in the middle of the night.

“You hungry? want something cubicinin?” ask Dinan.

“No, sir, I'm fine,” Layla said, blinking her eyes.

Dinan then stood up, he picked up the glass to refill Layla's empty glass. The man again put the glass he had filled in Layla's nightstand.

“If need water, just say,” said Dinan. He then lay down next to Layla to continue sleeping.

This time the man did not turn his back on Layla as usual, he looked at Layla who was lying down looking at the ceiling of the room. He still could not sleep because he thought of the dream just now.

“What dream did you have? why are you screaming like that? why such fear?” dinan asked looking at Layla's pale lips.

“I'm fine, sir,” elak Layla again.

“Sleep, don't be afraid, there's me protecting you here,” lirih Dinan.

Layla gulps. His body felt very weak, he closed his eyes to get back to rest. Dinan's embrace made him feel more comfortable. He forgot for a moment about the dream he did not understand.

The sound of the door crispy. Layla who was sleeping was awake. He opened his eyes and saw Dinan carrying a bowl nearby. While in the window he saw the sunlight was already very bright.

“Mr not to the office?” ask Layla who tried to sit down.

“You're sick again, how can I get to the office?” exchange Dinan, “this I made porridge, let's eat for a while.”

Layla shook her head, she stared fixedly at Dinan. Rarely could he see Dinan that close even though they lived on one roof.

“I have no appetite, sir,” replied Layla, she was bowed lethargic.

“Eat a little, I had told Richard to call the doctor here, so eat a little first so there is energy,” said Dinan. But Layla still nodded.

Dinan nodded slowly. He took a spoonful of porridge he made and fed Layla.

“Come, this porridge is better than your cooking,” persuade Dinan.

“What is my cooking good, sir?” ask Layla with passion.

“More good cooking, let's eat.”

Layla smiled happily, she opened her mouth accepting Dinan's feed. I don't know why he felt so happy with all of Dinan's attention. Although last night he was very hurt because of the man's words.

“Pak, do you really want to throw me because of that man?” layla asked doubtfully, she had just swallowed Dinan's first bribe and accepted the next one.

“From childhood I always learned not to depend and trust others. No one really cares about us but ourselves. So don't expect anything from me.”

“But Father is very good with me, what is wrong if ..”

“Then you want me to be like what?”

Layla was silent for a moment. He doesn't know what to argue.

“Bapak also does not believe in Mr Richard?” tanya Layla tried to trap Dinan with the male sentence itself.

“He's just an employee, nothing more. I'll fire him if he doesn't work.”

“If my status as an employee makes you unable to trust me, what about my status as a wife? Can't you believe me either?” ask Layla again.

Dinan was still painstakingly feeding Layla a meal. “There is nothing you can trust but yourself, La. No one really cares about you and your life but yourself. Other people will only help you when they benefit from your existence. Beyond that, they will pounce on you, making you fall deeply and unable to rise again. So stop depending and hoping on others.”

“Then why did you feed me like this? What is the attitude of the Father so far I can not believe with the Father?” tanya Layla again debated Dinan.

“I like this because there are things from you that I can use, besides that I will pounce on you and make you unable to rise again.”

The porridge that Dinan had fed was finished. Layla took a glass of drinking water and drank it to the end. He wanted to talk to Dinan a lot, find out if he really didn't feel anything after two weeks together. At least a little bit there is a feeling from the man for him for what they did together. Yet every sentence that Dinan said, always made his argument raw, Dinan was still difficult to judge, and understand.

Dinan stood up, he brought an empty bowl and an empty glass out of the room. Leaving Layla who could only fall silent. Thinking about what he could do again to be able to know the contents of Dinan's heart.

Layla pulled her phone out of the nightstand drawer. He remembers not telling the office people that he was sick. Just now the phone screen is glowing, there are many notifications from Bayu. Starting from dozens of messages and dozens of missed calls. Layla complains lightly. It's at a crossroads. His heart was worried because of circumstances he did not want. I don't know why he felt there was a wedge in his heart if he had to leave Dinan someday. The reward that made him want to always find out about Dinan and hope that things can change.
