Long River

Long River
My destiny

"Mr ...." Leka came running towards her father. He stopped in front of the old man who was looking directly at his face. The girl's father had a hard time hearing, so he had to read the lip movements of his interlocutors and for that their faces had to face each other.

"I just saved a drifting man sir!" Leka spoke while adjusting her breath that was panting. "He just woke up, but I don't know what to do."

Leka's father nodded in understanding. They then hurried off to the place Leka had appointed.

There, inside the cave, the man was still lying weak. Perhaps by traveling long distances through the constantly flowing water currents and the swift water of the river, he was completely exhausted physically against nature which had been a craze. I don't know how long he was swaying in the river, but eventually he found a way to return to land.

Leka's father came to the man who was lying weakly on a large flat rock. "Ea, owong awa aung an aian crew.(Leka, please bring your sarongs and clothes.)"

Leka immediately understood. He ran home and took what his father asked. Fortunately their house was not far from the river so Leka quickly returned.

The man was cold to see from the bite of his body. Leka's father helped her put on a sarong to change clothes but it was difficult. The man's body was too weak to stand. Forced Leka to help hold the sarong so her father could help the man undress.

This makes Leka awkward. He tried to raise the sheath as high as possible so that he did not see anything that happened inside, but still the eyes of the man had met with Leka's eyes accidentally and this made Leka embarrassed. The girl tried to look the other way.

Suddenly there was a noise and a crowd of people came approaching the cave. Of course Leka, her father and the man were shocked. The group of people were the citizens of his village and came with an annoyed face.

Leka's father immediately came out of the scabbard and immediately tied the sheath to the man's body because the man had not yet worn a single piece of clothing. He sat the man down afterwards.

"Hey, this is how it is! Nothing is perverted here yet. It's still bright!" Shouted one of the men from behind the group.

"You perverts here, this is dangerous for our village!" Excited the others.

"Let's marry them!" The other law. They boisterously assented.

"Sorry, I'm just helping people drift away." Light Leka with a little fear.

"You're a good man, but we don't want another case like Marni yesterday, a good boy but it turns out in her boyfriend's hamili," exclaimed a father in front.

"Yes, right."

"Yes, yes."

The people who were swarming started to make a fuss.

"Yes, yes, just marry them!"

"From the name of the village we are tainted, marry them."

The terrified Leka was shielded behind his father's back. "Mr. .. how do we?"

Of course Leka's father didn't listen. In fact, he is dizzy translating so many people who talk while his ability is limited to hearing. "Awa?(What's up?)"

A man came near Leka's father. He spoke slowly to the old man. "Sir, such a situation cannot happen in our village."

"Eawa'an howa?(What circumstances?)" Ask Leka's Dad.

"Ck," The man lazily explained. "Have married your son to that man!"

Leka's father turned to his son at the side and Leka simply shook her head in fear.

"It's eauan awa-awa.(He didn't do anything.)" Bright Father Leka.

"But sir, you may believe in your son, but do we not know what will happen next? If he happens like Marni again how? Who do you want to take on the same responsibility? Before the incident it's better to marry them, wouldn't it be better?" Persuade the man to the old man in front of him. Actually, the man also felt sorry for the old man, but he doesn't know the true events and whether he can trust Leka because he gets a report Leka was alone with a man in a river-side cave. In the past there was also an incident of a couple who were caught doing things that were not appropriate to do a couple in the cave so that when hearing this incident, immediately ignited the anger of the residents. He had to persuade this man to marry his son because he knew he was a good boy. There was never any skewed gossip about him, so he tried to keep this father and son safe.

The old man looked confused. He did not know the man who saved his son but he was also confused how to survive the anger of the citizens. In the end, he had to make a difficult decision. "Yes uah.(Yes I did)"

"Well, that's dong."

"Let's marry them!"

"Mr ...." Leka pulled her father's shirt in the back. The old man just turned to his son and rubbed his head. He knew his son was riled up, but he had no power to do anything. He hopes that the man Leka married is a good man who wants to marry and accept his child as he is.

A man with his prayers was carried forward. "It's really getting married, huh? How's trouble?" Said doubtful.

"Already sir, just marry me. Mr. RT had asked the same father he said 'yes'," said another.

The man who saved Leka was brought forward and questioned by Mr. RT. "Whose name?"

"W-what?"

A man came and helped put on the clothes that were there while Leka and her father moved away to one corner of the cave.

"Mr, how is this?" Ask Leka when she is dealing with her father. He almost cried.

Leka's father clasped his son's hand. "inja awah.(insha allah. When God wills)"

"Mr ...." Leka could only hold her father's hand tightly.

Just found a wallet from the man Leka saved, and Mr. RT checked it out. There is some money, ID card and credit card. "Your name is Aska Gilang Irfan, 23 years old, and the address is in Jakarta."

"I-yes sir." Reply to the man who was still shivering in the cold.

"That means you're younger than Leka, because Leka might be around 25. Yes Leka?" Mr. RT asked Leka who was standing in the corner of the cave.

Leka nodded.

"So now you and Leka marry in this place. Ready huh?"

"But, I'm not well sir, I-I just stopped by this village. Sa-i ...."

"Sorry Dek, your objections are rejected because you have entered our village area and you as a newcomer must follow the rules here."

Damnit damnit! Fuck that chick. Should have let me there earlier, not to be helped I also certainly can live without his help. Fuckin' shit! Aska glanced at the girl standing in the corner of the cave who looked embarrassed being stared at by him. Cih, you think I like you, huh? Stupid girl! Even though you are beautiful like that too I am ....

The sentence in Aska's mind stopped because .. he himself did not know why. There was something about the girl that confused him, but he did not know what. Something ... is difficult to describe with words because he himself is trying to translate something into words, but he still has not found its shape.

The wedding was also held. They all sat on the floor. Leka's father sat opposite Aska and their hands were united. Leka was sitting behind her father and a man was sitting near Leka's father translating the words that came out of Leka's father's mouth. The scavenger immediately led them to make a marriage promise which was then embraced by the crowd. They were officially married.

The only group of people went to disperse. From a distance Rani smiled happily. At least his rival for the heart of Bara, his idol, has fallen. There is no reason for Bara to refuse now, because Leka is married. Rani soon left the place.

Leka's father then brought Aska and Leka home. The old man caught Aska while Leka followed behind.

At home, Leka's father put the man into Leka's room, then he came out. Leka was confused as to what to do with the man. Just talk about it he's never been.

Aska is too. In that room there was only a roll mattress and a closet. Do I have to sleep in that roll? How poor is this girl I married. He was forced to sit on the bed roll on the floor because they did not have a chair. Only in the living room.

Leka was still holding Aska's wet clothes in a strapped sheath. "Will you eat something or drink?" Friendly ask.

Suddenly, Aska was hungry. He actually doubted Leka's cooking might not be clean according to him but he could at least resist hunger. Especially if it is still cold.

"D-yes."

"Maybe I made you a ginger drink?" Leka's coming out.

"Eh," Aska was late in preventing it. He doesn't like ginger drinks. Especially made in the village, certainly not delicious, but he had to wait. Before long Leka came to bring a glass of ginger drink to Aska.

"It." Leka nodded and gave it to Aska's hand.

Aska only accepted it, but kept it in her hands.

"Come, drink." Leka looked at Aska in wonder.

Aska was confused to say it to the girl in front of her. He just needs warm water not ginger drinks.

"Hot huh? Here I blow." Leka pulled the hand of Aska who was still holding the cup and the small plate underneath.

"Eh."

Leka blew the surface of the cup in front of Aska slowly. The man just stared at the beautiful girl in front of him without blinking.

"It."

"Mmh?" Suddenly Aska woke up.

"Drink," Leka ordered.

"Oh," Aska subconsciously tried it and. How does it taste good? He tried again. Is correct. Tastes good. It looks like there are many spices that are put in it and the taste of ginger is disguised with the taste of the spices that are included so that it tastes good.

"I'll cook for a minute."
