Chapter 25: Initial Task of Copy Editor
“What I said, you are an expert in being a salesman. Try if I tell the others no one wants to come. Please come in. I'll introduce you to the other seniors. I am Fobis, vice-chairman of the club.”
Alpha interrupted. “It should be my job, right? I'm the chairman of this club and you shouldn't have the authority to tell me.”
“Hahaha, sorry Alpha. Fine please chairman.”
“Hey where are you going? I'm tired of recruiting members now it's your turn to introduce them to the others.”
“Three of you come with me.” Fobis grunts resentfully at Alpha. But Alpha is right and that makes him even more upset.
“All of us have three new members. This blonde woman named Helene, the glasses guy, Ken and the one-tied girl her name is Ana.”
“Welcome to pen club.” the senior members welcome them.
“If you have trouble ask a senior. For a while you were guided by Selena. He is senior editor. Selena was so expert that she had that post.”
“I didn't expect Selena senior to be a senior editor. I think it's just a regular club.” complimented Helene.
“At first this is a regular club, but because we want to jump directly into what the publishing world is like we finally established it. So that if you leave this club, at least have experience. You guys don't have to worry, talk informally to us it doesn't matter.” Selena explained.
Fobis holds Selena's shoulder. “I ship them.” The senior left his three juniors.
“Do you guys have any previous experience in publishing?” ask Selena.
“I've been a writer and published it.” replied Ken.
“If I have ever been in the field of editing.” Helene answered.
“If Ana?”
“A-I don't have any experience. I only read a lot of novels so I would love to be a writer.”
Selena pensive for task placement. Eventually he decides Ken to become a contract writer, Helene becomes an acquisition auditor and Ana becomes a copy editor.
“Oh no senior.”
“Bring tomorrow and give it to Helene. I'll teach him and for Ana, I have a decent manuscript to publish. Let's look at the punctuation mark. You can do it at home. When you're done, you can meet me. Of course if not busy.”
Ana took the manuscript sheet from Selena. He is very happy but on the other hand will definitely be busy because it coincides with the task of social themes.
“New first day already share the task?” Alpha's coming to see Selena.
“We are short on members whereas many writers out there are interested in us. Many manuscripts to check.” Selena complained. The Alpha who saw Ana carrying a lot of manuscript sheets felt pity.
“Selena is there anything else you want to say?”
“No.”
“You can go home. Since you are still counted as juniors do not consider this a burden, just relax. Actually it is our duty.”
Alpha and his three juniors came out of the room. The first day at the club was very tough. It turns out that behind the vastness of the room a lot of work awaits.
“Ana put the script in your bag. Afraid if the paper is damaged.” according to Ana's orders put the sheet in her bag.
“I'll help you. Can I go to your house to do a script edit together? And to teach you. Are you feeling tired?”
“No I'm happy. The problem of working on small projects can be divided because of the group system. I'll try to focus on both.”
Alpha smiles. “Let's go home.”
The fleeting sight of romance between senior and junior did not escape Helene's sight. His eyes continued to follow until the sight vanished.
