13. Maroon’s Family

In the evening, Smith's doctor had dinner with the Maroons. The man with the brownish blotch on his face wanted to have a serious talk with Madam Joyce.

Machita looked very happy when she opened the door for him. Even the fifteen-year-old girl prepared peanut soup with her favorite bowl for Doctor Smith. Paulo whistled while singing Bryan Adam's song “when you love someone”.

Machita repeatedly glared at Paulo, hinting at his sister for silence. While the madam Joyce is still struggling with the grilled fish.

Kirana has no appetite for food even though she is hungry. He just sat down short on the bed looking at the sea and the stars behind Machita's window.

The moon is covered in clouds. Dimmed.

The waves chasing each other still sounded loud. The wind slapped the oak-wooded room window wide open.

Kirana biting the lower lip. His heart feels pained. He's really desperate!

“You didn't eat?” tegur Machita ransacked all his empty thoughts. Kirana shakes.

“Don't worry, he can eat later. I have to talk to you guys, let him rest,” cried Doctor Smith from the direction of the dining room.

“What something bad happened to him?” ask Madam Joyce softly.

Doctor Smith took a deep breath and exhaled. He didn't want to ruin a warm dinner at the Maroon family's house.

“Their voice is troubled so he can't talk for a long time. He was very sad, and he lost his memory. He doesn't remember who he is, where he came from and everything about him. She looks traumatized and pathetic.” doctor Smith explained.

Everyone was tense at Doctor Smith's explanation. Even when Machita returned to his seat, he was only able to be dumbfounded after hearing it.

“So, what should we do?” paulo asked after being silent for a long time.

“That's what I want to talk to you guys about. What are we supposed to do? while he has no identity and we don't know who he is. If he stays here too long, he could become an illegal immigrant. The police will come back to look for him. But, we can't just take him away, see his condition and we have no clue about his family or his place of residence,” said Dr. Smith.

“Do not raise problems. He can stay here as long as he wants and until his memories come back and heal. I'll take care of him. He could be part of this family,” said madam Joyce. Everyone looked at him in amazement.

“He could be my roommate. Why doesn't he become our family?” chirps Machita.

A glimmer of new life shines towards Kirana's life. Madam Joyce smiled and was proud to hear Machita was so kind.

“I'll call dad, tell him that the girl he found will be a Maroon family,” Paulo said excitedly.

Doctor Smith smiled happily, he saw a lot of kindness in the Maroon family. They nod in agreement. But the real problem doesn't stop there. Doctor Smith did not want to destroy the happiness and the spirit of loving the Maroon family towards the girl.

He's, Uncle Thomson, Mr. Bruce and Madam Joyce will discuss the continuation of the girl's population issue later separately.

Kirana heard their passionate talk, she walked towards the kitchen approaching them limping.

Kirana decides to leave the Maroon family home and go to a place she herself has yet to determine.

“Oh, my dear come here. We have a surprise for you.” Madam Joyce led Kirana to sit down.

“Until you get your memories back, you can stay here as long as you want, and you can be our family. Stay here, if you don't know where you're going. I will take care of you like my own son,” said madam Joyce with sparkling eyes holding Kirana's hand.

Kirana was stunned and she saw the sincere faces of the madams Joyce, Paulo, Machita and the nodding smile of Doctor Smith. Eyes glazed. He nodded.

“Why cry, Son? Don't you like living with us?” ask Madam Joyce while stroking Kirana's hair.

Kirana shakes. He looked at everyone and tried to talk.

“There's something you want to say?” ask Dr Smith.

Machita immediately entered the room, no more than a minute back carrying paper and pencil.

“Just write,” says Machita.

“I don't know what to say, you guys are so good. I'm confused how to repay your kindness."

“Nothing to reply. We are glad you are here.” Madam Joyce.

“So, you'll stay here, right? You have become a Maroon family,” said Paulo excited.

Kirana wiped the edges of her eyes. He also nodded. Applause and cheers were heard from Machita and Paulo. Madam Joyce hugged tightly and kissed Kirana on the forehead and felt her.

Paulo and Machita did the same. Doctor Smith looked at them, he was happy. Kirana looked at the doctor Smith thanking her for her help all along. Doctor Smith approached Kirana. He extended a hand congratulating. Kirana returned the hand.

“Wait a minute. You don't have a name yet. How will we call you?” ask Machita.

“I said just call miss Asian,” said Paulo. Madam Joyce glances at Paulo.

“Miss Asian? That's the name I registered at the hospital,” said doctor Smith scratching his non-itchy head.

“See! Doctor Smith alone felt fit with that name,” Paulo insisted.

“But..it doesn't look a good name. More likely a continent.” Madam Joyce hesitated.

“It's obviously different. He was more suited to that name, because his face was Asian. We can't just give him a name, especially he doesn't have an identity. It's a common name,” said Paulo ngeyel.

“In addition to the police I have given the name Asian Pongthananikorn. Thom's acquaintance, the yacht's insurance clerk, also gave the name A. Pongthananni. I don't know the initials A and P. I just origin mention,” doctor Smith chuckles.

“You even thought of a name that was a perfect match for him. But wait a minute, it looks like Preechaya Pongtha. I'm like I've heard of it.” Paulo seemed to think.

Doctor Smith laughed, but he did not want to discuss more about the idol artist.

“Why don't we ask him? he has the right to choose a name,” sela Machita.

Kirana smiles amusedly with her new family noisily by a name.

Kirana wrote something.

“ASIAN, you can call me miss Asia instead of having trouble spelling those two overly complicated last names,” Machita spelling and everyone smiling hearing it.

“Yeah, miss Asian. I like that,” murmured.

Miss Asia Pongthananikorn or called Miss Asia, who is considered Thai citizenship has been born and started a new life.

In contrast, the name Kirana Badar of Indonesian nationality has disappeared and vanished along with the sinking of Kencana Air RQ30144.

“Do you have instagram?” tanya Machita's full of passion.

“He's lost his memory, of course he forgot. Later we make,” said Paulo. Miss Asia simply smiled in response to the spirit of her new sister.

***

Six months since the discovery of miss Asia by Mr. Bruce Maroon and became part of the Maroon family. During that time also two policemen who had interrogated them always watched the movements of the Maroon family, especially miss Asian.

There is nothing more interesting to the two policemen than to investigate the case of the existence of the Asian girl. They were astonished by the insurance report of the cruise ship that had the accident. The girl's name does exist, but it doesn't start with Asian. How quaint.

The police can not ask for further data to the insurance if without a formal letter from the court. Email and fax replies from insurers in Switzerland tend to be slow. While the two policemen are unlikely to go back and forth to the insurance company in Switzerland to just conduct an investigation.

Doctor Smith and the Maroon family, immediately took care of the fake documents for miss Asia a month later. New passport issued by the Thai government.

Uncle Thomson's acquaintances from various circles. He has a syndicate connection making fake documents. The asphalt or genuine but fake passport was worth 500 Australian dollars and Smith's doctor issued it for all of it.

Then, three months later applying for a visa as a tourist after having a visa, the police only dared to monitor from afar. Once they visited the bar belonging to uncle Thomson and slightly interrogated the old man.

Thomson's uncle, who learned a lot from the mobsters and syndicates of illegal goods trade networks and forged documents of his acquaintances, could trick both plain and honest police. Of course, Thomson's uncle must have sided and defended miss Asian.
