10. Investigations

In the afternoon Machita, madam Joyce and Paulo gather in the kitchen. Because there is no living room, so the dining table as well as guest seating. Madam Joyce is making guacamole in addition to dinner.

Machita and Paulo make tortilla dough as their daily dishes. Sometimes French bread and cereal for a menu interlude. As a pure Mexican, the family could not escape the habit of eating and dressing Mexican-style.

Kirana looks over Machita's bedroom door. He felt uneasy just hitchhiking, he limped towards the kitchen and offered help.

“Oh no. Just rest, baby,” by madam Joyce.

Kirana can't cook. However, he can help them wash dishes or set the table instead. He sat down and leaned the stick on the chair next to him.

Kirana smiled amusedly at Paulo who nosily sprinkled the remaining flour tortilla dough on Machita's hair, until the teenage girl screamed annoyed. Madam Joyce nags in languages other than English that Kirana doesn't understand.

“Sorry, we only have this. I don't know what your country's food is like. If you don't like this, you can eat fish. We have a lot of sea fish,” said madam Joyce took off the aprons of coral flowers.

Kirana shakes. He is not the kind of person who likes to pick food. He knew enough and thanked the foreign family for providing care, clothing, shelter and food.

“Actually, we are from Mexico. So don't be surprised if we cook a lot of Mexican food instead of Australian. My husband and I moved here seven years ago. And we haven't been back to Mexico until now. Sometimes I miss our country. It took a lot of money to bring our family home. Finally, we have to work hard to raise money to get back there. We have changed citizens. Oh yeah, you're not meeting my husband today. He's a sailor. Only come home once every six months. Oh, I'm talking too much. Sorry, enjoy your food,” Madam Joyce please.

Kirana really likes these mothers. He was very friendly, kind and gentle. He began to remember his mother and missed the time to eat together. Spanish rice is served in a large melamine bowl, and several tortilla sheets and a plate of cooked shellfish are spicy. The menu is almost the same as this morning.

Kirana didn't take the tortilla. He ate voraciously Spanish rice with the shellfish side dish. They smiled happily when they saw Kirana eating excitedly. Either because the girl was starving or she really liked Joyce's madam cooking.

Madam Joyce serves a cover menu in the form of guacamole. Kirana little ‘eneg’ saw a green sauce that looks strange. It tasted a little, it turned out that it was a mashed avocado.

Tok.dok.cock.

The wooden door was knocked hard by someone. Madam Joyce stared at Machita and Paulo in turn. He felt he was not inviting guests to eat but then told Paulo to open the door with a nod of his head.

Paulo walked agile despite having to limp on one leg. Two men in uniform were standing right in front of the door. A saloon car with siren lights is on top.

“I heard you guys host a foreign girl here and she's a victim found at sea?” ask the police without further ado. Paulo's face immediately pale and nervous.

“What's up, baby?” madam Joyce asked him before Paulo answered.

“Ah, hello madam Maroon. There are reports that you hid the girl from the accident at sea. Can we meet him?”

Madam Joyce is speechless and speechless. “Hide?? You think we're criminals holding someone hostage? Get out of my house right now!” joyce snapped his madam and slammed the door right in front of the two government officers.

“Mum, what are you doing?” paulo was surprised.

“Ssttt.. silence.” He pulls Paulo away from the door and immediately invites him into the room.

“They are looking for the girl. Why don't we just leave the girl to her. Maybe it could help him find his family. His family must be very anxious right now. Do you intend to keep him here forever?” Paulo gave a long talk while sitting on the bed.

Madam Joyce took a short breath and after gaining her composure she started talking, “Listen, son! The girl saved your father while he was catching fish that he shouldn't have done. His sailing license is only as a deliveryman and not a fisherman. If he interrogates the girl, it will lead to your father's questions and investigations about the work done at the time. You want him to go to jail and we get kicked out of here?”

Paulo widened his eyes in disbelief at his mother's words. “It's illegal, Mum. Why bi.sa?” yet Paulo could continue his question, madam Joyce raised her hand before him.

“We need a lot of money to get back to Mexico. Your father had to do this. I'll make sure yesterday it's his last job, because for God's sake, my sleep is not calm thinking your father did that.” Madam Joyce again made the sign of the cross on her forehead and both shoulders.

“Then.until when will we hide the girl from the officer? they will not be satisfied before checking this house.”

“Why are you here?” machita asked to interrupt the two of them who looked cool in secret talks.

“Ah... no, let's eat soon. The girl may be waiting for us.”
