Edric's Conference

Jane did not expect that Edric's trial would be attended by many people including journalists. They flocked to come and record to get exclusive news. The Edric scandal that had faded is now sticking back on social media. This time Jane was also dragged into the case as a victim.

Jane tried to cover her face with the scarf she was wearing. But reporters continued to urge Jane to answer some questions.

"What is your relationship with Edric Harisson?"

"When did you recognize Edric Harisson?"

"Are you trapped in a house?"

Suddenly a pair of sturdy arms shaded Jane from dozens of camera blitzs. Daniel Wynford helps Jane into the courtroom followed by Rene Wynford. Jane breathed a sigh of relief.

"Give me a way in! The trial will begin soon!"

The chairman and members of the judge have been sitting in their respective seats. Edric Harisson also sat in the defendant's seat accompanied by the supervisor. When Jane walked into the room, Edric's eyes sparkled at her lover. He unconsciously muttered Jane's name.

"Jane.."

But Jane turned her face away, she continued walking without looking at Edric in the slightest.

The trial began.

"Is it true that defendant Edric Harisson shot Daniel Wynford's brother?"

"No refutation?"

The judge continued reading Edric's indictment.

"Is it true that defendant Edric Harisson had held captivity in Jane Ainsley's sister for 34 days at the defendant's residence?"

Edric was silent for a long time, and the judge repeated his question.

"I repeat, is it true that defendant Edric Harisson has been holding Jane Ainsley's sister for 34 days at the defendant's residence?"

"Maybe not.."

The few people present at the trial threw eyes at each other.

"Please clarify the defendant's answer."

"Is caring for and feeding a person acceptable?"

Jane clenched her teeth, impatiently waiting for the judge to give her time to refute Edric Harisson's statement.

"There's rebuttal?"

Jane immediately got up from the chair.

Jane wants to provide evidence that Edric also perpetrated the persecution against her, even though it was unintentional because Jane first attacked him. The scar on his head turned out to be useful at a time like this. But suddenly Daniel stood up and spoke up.

The presiding judge tapped a hammer sign that the court's decision had been approved. Since Edric is mentally impaired, he will serve his prison term in rehabilitation with a strict supervisor.

For the last time Jane stared at Edric's departure accompanied by several policemen. Edric was still mumbling indistinctly.

"Jane Ainsley.wait for me.wait for me.."

Jane raised her head to hold back the crying. But still these damn tears flowed without excuse on Jane's cheek. It felt like a heavy burden had been lifted on Jane's shoulders. Daniel sees Jane crying next to the courthouse. He was waiting for Jane to spill all her emotions.

"You're not Jane.."

Either Mrs Nolan must feel pity or laugh to see the state of Edric that looks adorable. Edric's cheeks looked very thin, his eyes became sunken with unfocused vision, which was worse Edric's body was wrapped in special clothes full of rope ties so that he could not move freely.
