Chapter 90: Memories of an Uncertain Future

Lunch was over, Subaru and the others separated. Subaru had sent a letter to Reinhard saying that the next day he would visit, with Ravel it would be very easy to get there, thanks to the magic circle controlled by the demons. Going through all that, Subaru's plan was to get Reinhard to help him with the bishop of Gluttony and Greed or at least expel them, for that, he needed to owe more to the red-haired knight.

While waiting for a response, Subaru was sitting in his room listening to the sound of birds chirping in the afternoon. The young butler let out a tired sigh, it was true that he had not slept well lately, somehow he could not fall asleep when his head touched the pillow.

"*Sigh*... I really need to relax a little, but..." Subaru would continue talking to himself until there was a small knock on the door.

"Ah, you can come in..."

"Excuse me." A feminine-sounding voice, Subaru could not tell the difference well due to exhaustion, but somehow it calmed her down.

“Are you okay, Subaru?” Said a voice from behind, Subaru began to look hazy, as if all the dreams he had experienced had an effect, Subaru began to sway from side to side, but just as he was about to fall off the chair, it was not until the day after, he felt his face hit something soft.

"I'm doing fine... Just a little tired." said Subaru while struggling not to fall asleep. "... I need to meet with... Reinhard"

The girl snorted, before turning her head, and then crossing her arms, she sat on the bed right next to Subaru's chair and then pulled the black-haired boy towards her, she said, his head was on top of something soft that mysteriously smelled Jasmine. He could feel a warm hand caressing his head.

"Even though I don't know what you're doing, I know you're trying harder than anyone and it requires a gift, consider this your gift. Be grateful." 

Upon hearing that, the silhouette of the mysterious girl brightened, showing blue eyes and a flushed face. Subaru could only smile and say.

(PoV???)

"You can't beat me, after all I need his love!" Said the green-haired madman while fighting against the black-haired young man, the boy had a sword in his hand, which was above the others, the boy stabbed his sword with all his strength in the chest of the madman.

"Love, Love, Love, Ah...!" It was the last thing he shouted before dying, the black-haired young man was too calm, his chest was not panting, he was not even moving, it seemed strangely desperate.

"Shut..." I whispered those words, and ran towards the young man. Subaru was about to fall, but I just leaned him on my shoulder, looking around in my pocket as fast as I could. Found it! Then take a small jar and open the lid.

I stuffed the bottle into Subaru's mouth, and the young man started to swallow the contents, but a strange thing happened in the next second.

"Enough..." He said those words like a whisper but I could hear it, obviously the wound had not healed yet, even the Tears seemed to have no effect, I started to despair, I did not understand what was happening.

"Why...? Why not influence?!" I screamed with all my lungs waiting for an answer, this couldn't have happened....

"That's because... I'm dead." Those were the words of the boy, who looked calm, after accepting his destiny, Subaru looked at me but in his eyes there was no light that always calmed the others, they were empty and without life.

"New! Lady Ravel! Are you guys all right?!" It was the voice of the purple-haired man, whom Subaru helped when he was about to get killed, footsteps approached and his figure emerged from the forest.

The man stopped when he saw Subaru's body, his eyes widened, sadness and anger piled up in his eyes.

"Julius.jaga..."

"I swear by my sword, nothing will happen to them while I'm on guard."

PoV - (Ravel)

"Thank you, Ravel." Those words resonated with me, it gave me a warm feeling but at the same time a desperate sadness, tears coming out of my eyes, I didn't know why I was crying, I just did it. Looking at Subaru's face, I could only see his forehead, I went up to him and gave him a small kiss on the forehead, then somehow felt better.

Although I don't know how I feel after knowing Subaru for only a few hours, but if there's one thing I do know, it's that I don't want to part from him.

"Thank you, Subaru."

PoV - (Third Person)

Sunlight appeared in Subaru's closed eyes, the young man placed his hands over his eyes to block out the light, Jasmine's soft scent seemed to flood Subaru's nose, making him a little calm, until he realized something.

"Ravel?!" Subaru quickly opened his eyes to see Ravel's face on it, looking like she was sleeping.

Out of nowhere a sound came from outside.

"Subaru? i'm in..."

The door opened to reveal the blue-haired maid, her eyes wandering around the room to Subaru who was lying on Ravel's lap, the blue-haired girl could only sigh and say.

"Wake up, Subaru. You have a letter sent from the Astrea Mansion in Hakchuri, and you also have to cook breakfast for Lady Crusch and mister Felix" Rem said as he turned around, although the girl showed no jealousy, not only that she was very happy, Subaru could feel it thanks to his words.

As everything seemed to return to normal, Subaru heard a groan from above, and there was Ravel's eyes staring straight into her eyes, the blond girl's face flushed red.

“I-this is the prize, k-you better remember it.” Ravel said as she tried to look in all directions except for Subaru's eyes.

"Haha... It's okay, it's okay, 

Lady Ravel's. I'm going to go make breakfast, what tea do you like the most.herbal flavor or fruit flavor?

"Hmmm. I haven't had fruit-flavored tea in a long time, I hope you make it well, Hmph!"

"Hi, hi. As you ordered, my daughter"

And with that begins another day in Natsuki Subaru's busy life.
